Failed dream stabilization in DILD
I am on my way home, carrying groceries on the sidewalk of the quiet street passing by the house I live in on a cloudy day with a darker lighting of the environment suggesting that the time of day is soon to be or already is dusk. I'm not sure if my mother is with me, but she could be. Suddenly, I become lucid. It might have been a random thought about lucidity which triggered this. But I immediately start slipping out of the dream but try to rub my hands and to look at them to stabilize the dream, but I am already on the threshold of waking up, strangely controlling both my dream and real body at once, but apparently my stabilization attempt soon failed and I find myself having waken up.

I got too stressed to journal again. I'll probably continue for real once summer holidays come around in nearly exactly a month.

I actually chanted a mantra and used a special thought technique I can't really explain to kind of bypass the way you'd usually have this only incubate a fake lucid dream instead of actually causing awareness, and I guess it worked. It's like I went "behind" the normal thought? Only I really know what I'm talking about with that, I guess, at least I hope at least I will if I rediscover this some time. Nobody ever understood the way I explained how my brain worked. People tend to think these are metaphors, but I feel like I physically navigate my thoughts. While that's not what happens, of course, that's the input I'm getting and doing the same "movement" produces consistent results. It's weird like that. Also, I'm tired so I'm rambling about this, probably mostly as a big note to self so that I can reproduce this, since this is the first time a technique just straight up worked first try to that extent.

I do wonder why the stabilization didn't work, though. And I tend to always find myself kind of "blind" in dreams, I've noticed that here as well. It's like my whole vision is covered by a blind spot, like how your thumb disappears if you move it into the right location, it makes it hard to stay in a dream. I feel like I only know some of the visual information because I just kind of know without seeing it, and that's annoying me. But I can't say reality is a whole lot different, honestly. My perception is always weirdly "blind" like that, like a very insidious form of tunnel vision. Enough rambling now. I still think this was probably the closest I've ever gotten to stabilize a lucid dream, so overall, this was a success. Good.
2. So I need some help with this one...

Ok, so here's what happened. I was with the characters from Scooby-Doo about to leave the malt shop and get back into the mystery machine. This was a spontaneous lucid, because as soon as I entered the Mystery Machine, I began to have thoughts about my body in bed. Then I began messing with dream characters, interrupting Fred and Daphne mid-conversation by making her voice silent among other things. Then, Daphne turned into my sister and I suddenly had a thought: and I said to her, "I have a question about dreaming, can you help me out?" to which she replied, "sure, let me show you a dream I had". She took my hand, and we sort of phased out of the mystery machine and onto the sidewalk. We ran towards a tree and dove straight into it (there was no hole or anything, we just dove headfirst into a tree trunk, and suddenly the world began to stretch and contract like a giant accordion. After three or four contractions, it stopped, I turned around, and I was in a completely different place. It was a very modern building that looked like a fusion of my high school and university buildings, and I asked her where she had taken me. Daphne/my sister had changed again, to my surprise, this time taking the form of a classmate, and she said to me "this is a dream I had. I gave a great speech here" and we walked up the stairs towards a large crowd and a podium. She began cracking jokes, and I started seeing friends from high school in the crowd, so I was laughing and giving high-fives and hugs, and I thought once more about my body in bed, but I still didn't wake up. I climbed up the last of the stairs and thought to myself, "I can use that travel technique she taught me to go somewhere else" having somewhere in mind, I stopped the girl and said to her, "when you're done with your speech, can we go somewhere else?" to which she agreed, but sadly for me, the dream was about to end. I saw two more friends from high school, who told me an absolutely hysterical joke which made me completely lose focus, I high fived my friend, looked up, and BOOM. I woke up.

So my questions are as follows: who is the girl (just a dream character, a guide, part of my subconscious, etc)
What in the world (if anything) did I do to become lucid and how can I do it again
How can I not wake myself up like I did in this instance to keep myself in the dreamscape?

Thanks for reading and thanks for any feedback. Love to all!

Dream Fragment One
Untitled

All I remember is that I woke up to some guys coming into my house, like they owned the place. I think they were supposed to be of some relation to my landlord and his son. They pretty much just made themselves comfortable, as if they were going to be staying for quite some time - one of them posting up in my windowsill and just gazing reverently at the outside world. I also remember that I was on the second floor of a two-story house.

Dream Two:
"Pencildragon"
(Lucid)

I was at some outdoor carnival or festival, held out in some rural field at dusk. Munching on cotton candy while I walked, I spontaneously realized that I was dreaming. Immediately, I was surprised at how much I could smell and taste the cotton candy (I have very few experiences with tastes and smells in lucid dreams), and even though the dream already felt very clear and grounded, I decided to take a few moments to touch my surroundings, running my hand along the wooden frame of a wooden kiosk nearby. Raising my free hand up in front of my face, I saw that my fingers were very wavy, which was a bit at odds with the solidity of everything else around me.

Quickly, I tried to think of what I had planned to do with my lucidity once attained it, before I'd gone to bed. I remembered the 'Tasks of the Month' and that I wanted to try the pencil task (which was to "ask a pencil to draw something for you"). I turned back to the kiosk, expecting to find a pad and pencil there, in which I could do the experiment. Sitting atop the counter, I found a pad and a few, loose, colored pencils. I picked up one pencil - blue, I believe - and set it in the center of the pad. Without speaking, I attempted to "will" the pencil to draw something for me. The only thing I remember, about the actual process, was the pencil moving back and forth and making a few scribbles, but it ended up drawing a (quite simplistic) dragon. (One of the art pieces I have been brainstorming on, in waking life, has been a dragon. I haven't yet drawn the final draft, but I did draw a dragon thumbnail, about a week ago).

Satisfied that I had completed the task, I took to the air and flew away from the carnival to do some exploring. While flying over the wide, green fields of the early evening countryside, I looked below me to see an actual dragon, roaming around the landscape and idly blowing plumes of fire at random. It had sort of a cartoonish, video game feel to it (I had been playing PlayStation VR, before bed - no dragon games, though), and felt as if it was just a manifestation of the dragon that was drawn on the paper. I decided not to bother with the creature and continued flying over the field. I don't really remember anything afterward.
4. 1/07/2016 - "Ring Totem" (Lucid)

"Ring Totem"

My earliest memory of this dream was having sex with my girlfriend on the living room couch. Afterward, we were being flirty in the kitchen, and I went to pick her up by her waist and set her on the counter. When I did so, I realized that she was light as a feather - almost totally weightless. Because of this, I realized that I was dreaming. (I'm glad that she was understanding, when I told her about that part. Lol.)

Once lucid, I set her down and began to roam about the kitchen, trying to think of what I wanted to do with my lucidity. My usual, first order of business is to stabilize the dream, so I reached out to the wall and ran my fingers along it, taking in the texture and paying a good bit of attention to it. Then, I remembered my totem. I held up my right hand and began to rub my ring with my thumb, looking down at the inscription and anticipating at least some sort of change. (The ring in the pic above is my actual ring.) The text began to glow a bright white, and it helped me to remember that I wanted to try out the ring as something of a conduit for dream "powers".

The room had changed, and I was now walking through an area with other people. Stepping up to one, random DC, I held up my hand, palm out, and attempted to conjure fire from the ring. I got nothing, though. Curious as to whether or not I would find a different hand position more comfortable, I made my hand into a fist and held that out to the nearest person to me, instead. My attempts to shoot flames from the ring had - again - failed, and I got a little frustrated. The last thing I remember was trying a few more methods to conjure fire before the dream, itself, faded, and I woke up.
5. Dream Control Powers

This was my shortest dream of the night but the most significant.

I find myself in a pine forest, an unknown setting for me. People are around but they seem to be keeping their distance as though they're waiting on something or afraid of me and the people closest to me. It turns out they have good reason as mystical powers are being worked with.

The teenage girl closest to me is dressed like Shiro from Deadman Wonderland.

She is standing near a wall about three feet high that may be made from old railroad ties. Her arms are in front of her with her palms down as though to summon something. Beneath her hands are two white bars, each about six inches long, two inches wide and just over an inch high, stacked one on top of the other. My perspective is from slightly below her and in front of the low wall. Looking up at her I can see light bathing her from below as though the bars are radiating light...but more than that...waves of energy seem to be all around, as though power is being unleashed.

The girl is not as experienced as I am but I can see she definitely has power and potential. As her hands hover over the bars waves of new energy are released, enough to affect the very air like a strong wind. I'm eager to see if she will fully release the power from the bars.

The truly significant thing was the source of power in the bars was dream-power, something I knew to be known as Regional Dream Stabilization. The stronger the power of a dreamer the larger an area they could stabilize and control. The effect was radiant so worked in all directions from the source. I was really eager to see how the effect of her powers unfolded, and I wasn't alone. The others in the forest grove were also on edge waiting for something to happen.

And then I woke.
