    1. #4 - Dream Chain A

      by , 06-21-2016 at 04:23 PM
I had this series of dreams after waking up early and going back to sleep, which is typical for my previous lucid dreams. I was familiar with some of the features of these dreams: a realistic environment not usually drawn from real life, realistic dream characters who are part of the scenery instead of the plot (and sometimes ignore me), and dream chaining.

I can't quite remember the beginning. Before I went to sleep, I recall deliberately daydreaming to occupy my mind, so it might have developed out of that. At some point I found that I could have WILDs really easily. All I needed to do was let my mind wander, I'd soon see some realistic imagery (or once, a geometric pattern), and at some point, rather than getting caught up in the dream's plot, I'd just go 'yep, this is a dream'. I was able to improve the quality by shouting 'increase lucidity' and so on. The dream chain included:

      - One where I found myself in a large building with a vague 'institutional' feel, having corridors and a reception desk. Most of the dream characters seemed to ignore me, even after I did the "You're all in my dream, what do you think of that!?" thing, which I sort of felt like I wasn't supposed to do. I found an old lady who did respond to me and asked her something, but I don't remember what she said.

      - A non-lucid false awakening in which a kid climbed through my window, much to my anger, causing me to go and get a sort of spatula in case I needed to repel the intruder.

      - One where I found myself in a garden or courtyard surrounded by three-storey Edwardian architecture. There was a small, cubical brick building similar to a power substation. I decided to test my dream control abilities. Simply by telling the dream that my hands were sticky like a gecko's, I climbed up the brick wall and stood at the top. I then marvelled at the feat and pondered what to attempt next; I didn't want to try anything that might disrupt the dream. I considered trying to turn into an animal but rejected it, for example.

      - Misc.: I also recall some SP-like sensations of shouting but having no voice coming out, being unable to feel myself breathing, or having a dry throat but being unable to clear it. I recall trying to shoot 'energy balls' out of my hands by sheer willpower and failing. I recall looking at my bedroom despite knowing my eyes were closed and sagely recognising it as a false awakening. I recall the realistic sensation of having an orgasm after doing nothing more than passingly thinking about it. I recall the sensation of partially separating from my body by sitting up in bed but failing to fully do so.

I don't know if the chain started with a real lucid dream, and I definitely caught onto one or two bits of false awakening imagery while still asleep, but as soon as I woke up in real life I realised that my supposed 'really easy WILDs' were actually all from a false awakening. I'd been dreaming about lucid dreaming the whole time.

      DILD (false-WILD)

      TOTM

notes: I spent the night at a buddy's place and left early in the morning. I came back home and slept for 2 hours, where this occurred.

I FA in my room back in Chicago and try to WILD. I feel a numbness come over me and RC. I become lucid, but it is really dark and unstable. I don't get up and move too much, instead, I try to focus on the sensations around me. I realize that the tactile sensations are similar to the one my "real" body was feeling so I lose the dream and FA again.

I try to WILD immediately again. The vibrations come on quickly. My body feels strange, kind of like numb and distorting. Now I stand up and RC. It is still really dark in my room. I start touching things like my bed in order to stabilize. As I leave my room, an old woman approaches me and starts talking. I can't tell if she is my grandma or not, either way, I can't hear what she is saying. I walk out the kitchen door into the night. There is another brunette girl who approaches me saying something. THe dream isn't fully stabilized so I ignore her.

I try to make the sun rise, so it won't be so dark. I reach my hand out to the horizon and raise it slowly. This fails, no change in the lighting. I am still trying to make my environment brighter, and therefore, stabilize the dream. This guy is on a floating segway-looking device and is shooting some canisters at me. They fly through the air really slowly. I don't want to engage him, but I reluctantly respond. I jump onto the back of his flying thing and I am sitting on a cooler that is attached to the back. He says he is law enforcement and I have been missing my payments. I say some excuse and then fall off the back.

I land in the grass in my backyard. There is a pile of snow. I put my hand into it, and it feels realistic, almost painfully cold. I remember the shadow TOTM and look around me. It is very dark, but I still have a shadow from the neighbor's lights. I watch it closely and expect it to make some aberrant movements. It starts shaking its arm even though I am not. Now that it is detached, I told it to attack the man from earlier. He had landed back on my porch and was standing by the door.

My shadow swoops away and I run up the steps. My shadow is beating on the other guy's shadow, and his actual body is recoiling with the hits. I watch on and think it is cool that my shadow can attack real people too. I lose the dream soon after.

    3. Born to be WILD... Kinda.

Boy howdy, I sure am adept at doing WILD techniques... But only when I'm already asleep! >:/ I'm wondering if there's a specific term for doing a WILD in a dream, or if it's considered a straight up DILD. Either way, this makes my second dreaming WILD.

Barring the details of my non-lucid (Fairly uninteresting, snowy street, jammed VCR I unjam, a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio.) I basically fall asleep in my dream and WILD. Though not as cleverly disguised as my first dream WILD, I still think how I can check that off on my October goal... At least for a moment, I realize fairly quickly after becoming lucid that I just dream WILDed. Anyway, I go through the motions of a WILD. Vague images, sudden feeling of acceleration, for a moment, I see a faint image of my kitchen and think that's where I'll be going in my dream.

Instead, I find myself just falling through a dark cloudy sky completely lucid. I wasn't scared at all (In fact, I can count on one hand how many times, total, I've been scared since keeping a dream journal, and all 3 are jump scares.). First thing I do is try to spin and change scenery, of course repeating I'm lucid, I'm dreaming, etc. Doesn't work, I notice my glasses are about to falloff from the wind of falling, I grab them and realize "I'm dreaming! I don't even need them!" my vision blurs every slightly but becomes clear again shortly after letting them go.

I try spinning again, maneuvering my hands in a way that would make me spin as I fell (I always fell feet first, and never looked up or down.). It works and i laugh joyfully as it does, i then think of stopping my decent by hovering, and slowly I do. I talk myself into it "Just slow things down...", honestly, it was very calming. Eventually I stop, and notice the sky has a very bright crescent moon, and it looks like it's on a giant dark blue wall in the distance.

I say to myself "Alright Zed, get ready for some dreaming.".

I then wake up. >;( I try to DEILD back into the dream like last time, but it doesn't work. (I suspect I was only in the void last time when I DEILDed back into my dreams.) Again, noticing the absolute dryness of my mouth. In total, I think I was lucid... Maybe a couple minutes? Certainly longer than my first dreaming WILD, but still not what I'd consider a 'Lucid dream'.

Still, it was interesting feeling the sensation of falling like that.
