    1. Space Rock Treasure

by , 10-22-2018 at 03:04 AM (The Fourth Factor)
I’m at the counter of a coffee shop that looks like one in a town not far from where I work. They seem to be selling small squares of chocolate cake, and I decide I’ll get one with my espresso. I’m hoping that it will be less expensive than their big slices of cake. But the total comes out to a little more than $10—meaning it was actually quite a bit more expensive. The woman behind the counter tells me that, if the total comes up to just a little more, which it would if I ordered a different kind of coffee—but actually, I can’t seem to get her to explain what’s supposed to happen and why it would be a good thing.

After a couple attempts, though, it occurs to me that I’m probably dreaming—possibly just because it was one of those rare scenarios - rare for me, anyway - that’s enough like waking life to where the differences are obvious. I look around the room. I have just enough time to observe that this is actually quite a good rendition of the waking life location before my vision starts fading.

I head for the door, and stepping outside seems to fix the problem. I can see just fine here. I’m now on a street that’s a little reminiscent of the waking life one that I’d expect to be here, but more vibrant and interesting. But I don’t stick around: I start running down the street, then flapping the wings I know will be there when I want them to be, then flying.

I rise higher, above the treetops, then make a strange kind of turn—I ought to be flying straight up, but somehow I’m parallel to the ground in a different location. I seem to be above a forest now, and above me is the evening sky. There’s sort of a natural path here, a groove where the foliage is lower, and I fly along it. I pass a lamppost on my right. It’s an interesting thing, very modern-looking—just a smooth, cylindrical pole with a vertical slit near the top that has purple light shining through it. I note that it would be completely useless from the ground—almost as if this is a real trail I’m flying along, and it's lighting it.

Was there anything I was planning to do next time I had a lucid dream? The only thing I can think of is actually looking at my wings. I never seem to think of it until—like now—I’m already in the air. Oh, well.

In the sky, above and ahead of me, I can see a red light—really, more like a small circle of lights. I figure I’ll go see what it is. That might be interesting.

I fly towards it. Pretty soon, there’s nothing in my field of vision but sky and the red light. It will be harder to maintain lucidity with nothing more solid to focus on, I know, and so I increase my concentration.

Once I’m closer to it, I can see what it is: a meteor, headed down towards the earth. I wonder if I should try to keep it from hitting. I aim myself towards it, but miss and end up behind it. I fly back down towards it, manage to catch up, but miss it that time, too. But, as I happen to glance at the fields below, I spot chunks of broken-up rocks in a few places. They look like the same type of rock the meteor is made of. And it isn’t a very big one—only about half my height. Maybe this isn’t something to worry about, then—this is something that happens all the time here.

I watch as it hits and breaks apart and then land to get a closer look. Among the fragments is a pile of colorful rocks. Some look like red and white crystals, some like turquoises, others like amethyst geodes. I gather them up.

I notice that someone’s nearby—an Asian man, maybe in his 20s. It occurs to me that he might want some of the rocks—and really, I don’t have any claim to them. I was just the first person to get here. I offer him some. He says he’s only interested in the turquoises right now and picks one out—a particularly smooth one—and sets it among a large number of others he has in a bag. I insist that he take another one, too, but then wake up soon after that.

    2. Five shorter dreams, including a snake in a cake

      by , 09-08-2017 at 09:46 AM
Morning of September 8, 2017. Friday.

Instead of making a separate entry for each of these five dreams of today, I will, at least for now, include only their summaries in one entry. (These are not all of today’s dreams as I sometimes remember fifteen or more, rarely ever less than five or six, not including the hundreds of short hypnagogic sequences, though those are usually of apex lucidity and too personal to post.) There were other dreams both before and after this sequence of five.

Dream one: “Sighting a Red-winged Blackbird Near a Bus Stop”. I am in an unknown area in an unknown city, though I do not consider it as unfamiliar or how I got here. A kindergarten teacher is trying to get all of her students to gather together in one area, possibly near the bus stop. (She reminds me a little of my own kindergarten teacher from my childhood.) They may have been on a field trip. The streets have mostly commercial buildings. There is an open area which is mostly like a park on the opposite side of the street from where I am. I see one bird walking about on the short grass. It is a red-winged blackbird. As it slowly moves away from my view, sometimes hopping or flying a very short distance, I notice that the spot on its wing seems different at times, either more red or more yellow, but I consider that this relates to how its wing is positioned. It faces to the right at times. I point at it and cheerfully say that it is a red-winged blackbird. The teacher acknowledges me briefly but seems more interested in gathering her students together. (This is a typical combination of return flight waking symbolism mixed in with coalescence waking symbolism, with the bus stop analogy of returning to wakeful consciousness. The preconscious - the teacher - is passive here as it is not my last dream of the sleeping period.)

Dream two: “Shaving with a Guinea Pig’s Shaving Cream”. I am with an unknown male in an unfamiliar bathroom, though I seem to be him at times. The other male is in the bathroom to shave, but he uses shaving cream which belongs to the guinea pig. The “guinea pig”, who actually seems mainly like an ordinary male human, stands off to my left and warns about a human being using it as it may be toxic to them or unsuitable at best. I shave slowly and carefully while looking in the mirror as I am seemingly now the other male. The detail is very clear and vivid. After this, with mostly smooth skin, guinea pig hair seems to grow out smoothly and cleanly from where my shaving occurred, mostly around my chin. I am not that concerned as this is apparently happening to the other male and not me even though I presently seem to be him. (This is partly related to removing most of my facial hair recently. Our guinea pigs are sometimes presently kept in the bathroom because of the cold weather, though in a fully-enclosed cage with a solid bottom.)

Dream three: “Stolen Dimensional Gateway Emerald”. I am with a few unknown males. We enter a large room that has an unusual glass structure in the center which is higher than our height but only about two-thirds the height of the room. It would be cross-shaped if viewed from above. There is a glass room in the center, with four smaller rooms of slightly lesser height coming out from each direction. Each room’s walls are transparent. Here and there are multicolored rocks of the type found near some railroad tracks. I am aware that the emerald used to control the dimensional gateway is missing. In fact, I consider that I may have taken it. There is a vague sense of amusement as another male is annoyed that he cannot use the gateway. I look over a few of the interesting railroad track rocks and mention how the gateway emerald could be replaced, not to actually be usable, but so that other people do not know the real one was taken. “They don’t have anything like that at Walmart,” says the other male angrily. (This is some sort of distorted and failed reinduction - that is, dream reinitiation attempt, my dream self coalesced with the preconscious and my subliminal will projected as from another character.)

Dream four: “Snake in a Cake”. There is some sort of party (possibly a birthday party) in a mostly featureless room that mostly only has a very large three-tiered pink cake that is about a foot higher than me. I get the impression that it may be taking place in the house on St. Cloud Street (where my older brother Earl lived for a time years ago). A lot of people are present, most unfamiliar, some relatives. After a time, a very large snake crawls across the floor. I relay what I see to the crowd, some people trying to leave, but there are too many people pushing about. I watch the snake smoothly crawl into the base of the cake and disappear. The imagery is mostly in pinks, oranges, and yellows. I relay how the snake has gone into the cake. Someone, an unknown male, says that he is not eating any of the cake. Later, the cake starts turning like a merry-go-round, which is caused by the snake’s actions. The cake eventually falls apart but there is seemingly not that much of a threat from the snake. (This probably relates to becoming dizzy in the past presumably from too much sugar, but I have not had problems with that lately, and I no longer drink cola at all. The snake was not rendered very realistically - more of the “War of the Serpents” mood and style from my childhood, so not serving as a vivid and more dominant waking prompt in itself as in other cases. Pink of a specific hue is often related to mild indigestion in sleep, based directly on taking Pepto-Bismol a number of times when I was young.)

Dream five: “Earl’s Puppies”. This is fairly vivid. I walk into a room that is mostly featureless. Earl (older half-brother on my mother’s side who died in November of 2007) is standing in the room. There is not much light. He seems healthy and appears mostly as he was in the 1980s. I am aware that he has at least three puppies (perhaps four) inside his abdomen. I hear them whimper a few times and there is movement on his skin’s surface. (His shirt is up.) I am not sure if he had (either deliberately or accidentally) swallowed them whole or is willingly to be some sort of surrogate mother. I ask him if he is concerned about being bitten internally or if it might hurt. He seems cheerful and resolute. (This is likely a result of mild indigestion mixed with hearing the dog next door whining in real life through the veil of sleep.)

There were a number of other dreams, a couple of which I may post separately at a later time or date. These dreams in order of vividness and clarity were five, two, one, three, four.

    3. August 16-23, 2013

by , 06-13-2017 at 04:59 AM (Fantastical Adventures)
      8/16/13 | Vibrations
Something like using vibrations to use things, or to progress, or to attack.

      8/17/13 | Minecraft 1.4.5
I dreamt that I bought Minecraft. First, I spawned in an area where I had to spawn a cactus in the middle of some grass. Then I turned around and made a pile of blocks to sleep on, but I knocked it down to collect them again. Suddenly, mom and my younger sister were there, using legos that also acted as blocks.

      8/18/13 (L) Value: 0 | Toothpick Snap
First, I was playing Twilight Princess for half a minute when I became lucid. When I became lucid, I snapped a toothpick in half and was teleported to the bathroom for shapeshifting. I don’t remember exactly what I did then, but my heart rate momentarily increased, which I calmed down a moment later. But then, mom showed up and I went to the stairs to find my older sister sitting on them, playing StarCraft 3. I thought about Star Trek Online for a moment. Then, I found myself playing it. I unfortunately lost my lucidity there because I got distracted by some DCs.
      Time: 30-90 seconds

      8/19/13 (L) Value: 0 | Underwater Wheezy, 6-Armed Wall Climbing
-1-Yet another boring everyday life dream. Dad put stuff in the bathtub, and mom drove into the water in Wheezy(the minivan) before I picked it up and put it back.
-2(L)-Just two parts. I grew some more arms to help me climb a wall. After that, the dream began fading away, so I spun around while focusing on my hands, but the transition was too fast, and I woke up.
      Time: 30-40 seconds

8/20/13 | Escaping Yellowstone With Rockets
Apparently, Yellowstone was the safest place on the planet. I said, “If it erupts, then it obviously won’t be the safest place on the planet. What do you know, it did erupt. [Skip the boring parts] I was escaping the eruption with some people at high speed with rockets.

8/22/13 (L) Value: 4 | Hill With Deadly Mountains, FA, Partial Progress
-1-It started out with me in the car and mom driving us to a BBQ. I looked to the north and could see a nonexistent, steep hill with mountains nearby, which some others and I eventually climbed. I found myself coming down from the top after a beautiful scene of mountains. Some deadly rocks detached from the side of the hill and fell on top of someone, killing them instantly. I saw a potential one, thinking it might kill me, so I took a different route down and then I suddenly had a FA with sleep paralysis engaged. I thought I had woken up, so I decided to do a FILD. No more than 5 seconds had elapsed before some really weird things started happening. I felt like my right shoulder muscles were stretching and being pulled in weird directions.
-2(L)-So the FA began right after another FA that I didn’t catch, and I became lucid by doing an RC. I could breathe with my nose plugged. It works every time. I forgot to stabilize the dream here. The first thing did was say, “Tail, grow.” That didn’t work, so I walked over to the door, and said, “Tail, grow through my clothing.” That was more convincing for me, so my tail grew to 24 inches. I grabbed it, and felt the whole thing! I scratched the end of it, and felt that too!
      Time: 1-2 minutes

      8/23/13 | Forgotten Mountainous Scenery
At one point I was at this grassy place with mountainous scenery to the N, E, and SE. Apparently it was same world and place that I walked up and down 3 times.
    4. Splendid Competition Night 10

by , 01-26-2017 at 08:46 AM (Awake to take in the view...)
I'm actually going to go to bed in just a few minutes. It's almost 1 AM here. But yeah. I need to report on last night's dreaming.

Dream 1: (Non-Lucid Fragment) There was a swimming pool with swirling water. I remember that its floor and walls were comprised of white tiles. They had a pretty floral design on them.

Dream 2: (Non-Lucid Fragment) My aunt was in this dream. Which is fun because she is pretty cool. We were watching bluebirds flying free, or something.

Dream 3: (Non-Lucid Fragment) My notes from this one are so nonsensical...I'm just going to reproduce them. Nightmare lair, stolen item, [something I can't read] out, trying not to get choked etc. o_o

Dream 4: (Non-Lucid Full Dream) So, in this dream we (me and some others) were supposed to take something back from an evil demon ruler of some sort. This happened twice for some reason; I think we were either defeated or had to retreat the first time. At any rate, both times I was terrified.

A former co-worker of mine and some other guys were working hauling rocks. Funny because IRL he graduated with a degree in IT, so why would he be doing construction work? We slowly walked by them. I remember wanting to walk slowly to avoid combat -- not with them, but rather I wanted to put off having to confront the demon. The day was sunny and pretty, but it felt ominous. They were working in a sort of shaded picnic area, and we were following a trail that was leading up the mountain where the demon lived. We were still near the mountain's base. There was light green grass and dirt all around, and both evergreen and deciduous trees. Yet I was pretty much terrified beyond all reason throughout the duration of this one. However I thankfully woke up far before any combat happened!

      3 fragments; 1 full non-lucid.

      And that's it.
    5. [26-09-2016]

      by , 09-26-2016 at 07:22 PM (Snehk's Dreamlands)
It was a really dark night - everything was pitch black. I was driving on pal's motorcycle to house, seeing as far as motor's lights allowed me to. For some reason I decided to stop in a smaller village close to my home village. A girl living in my neighborhood was there, riding on her motorbike. She asked me if we could make a race, then some huge dude on his motorbike joined us and we drove on. It became slightly lighter when we reached my backyard - this was the start. After everyone took places, we started the race. The road led up a hill. I quickly left them behind, even though my motorcycle turned into a destroyed bike halfway through. Then I heard someone shouting to me that I should drive to the side - I looked back and saw my mother on a bicycle, she said that she's driving to take my sister from a bus stop and that I should pick up some debris from the ground. I stopped my motorcycle/mangled bicycle and started collecting rocks and pebbles all around, then drove with them to house instead of continuing race, as there were no chances to win after that time.
    6. #203 - Rugby, Escape with the rocks

      by , 02-20-2016 at 10:35 PM (The Oneironaut's Odyssey)
      Dream 1 - Rugby
I remember being in a ute with friends, we're driving over to a rugby field to play a game in the evening. Some people are leaving and one of them raises his arms in a 'wtf brah' kind of way, indicating that he doesn't approve of us playing rugby. We continue onwards though and make it to the field. We all get out, there's like 20 of us that somehow managed to fit in that ute without it seeming like there was 20 people... We rush down the grass hill onto the rugby field and then this guy steps out. He's got dark skin and his friends all show up, there's about the same amount of them as there is of us. They're trying to fight us, everyone goes 1v1 against someone else. The guy I go up against I actually recognize, "OH hey man!! Wow haha how you doing?" We end up shaking hands and talking happily, I then said "Why are we doing this? Can't we all just play rugby if you guys want to fight it out? I mean this is a rugby field and we are all rugby players..." (I don't even play rugby O_O).

Dream 2 - Escape with the rocks
This dream I remember being quite intense, the name Adam was quite important. The place I was in was a school, though not like any I've seen. It was quite clean and futuristic with white walls that make you think 'wow this place is modern AF'. In the dream there were these special rocks which me and my friends had been collecting, I can't remember what they did or why/how we collected them. Towards the end of the dream there was a 'rewind' moment or something, and the dream played out a different scenario. We're in the modern looking gym, a HUGE dragon appears and attacks. I remember scuttling backwards on the ground. I think he didn't see me, there's smoke in the air and screaming, I think he was after someone else.. I turn my head and see the glint of a huge eye peering at me through the smoke. O_O uh oh... I get up and bolt, heading up the bleachers towards the upper exit. The dragon is after one of our special rocks. Adam was the guy who was holding the bag full of special rocks, I remember picking one up and looking at it, it's such a vivid blue. There are other crystals and rocks in the bag too, but the one I'm looking for isn't there. Where is it? I grab the bag which Adam had left and head out the exit. I'm outside, there's people running around trying to escape, I spot Adam and run up to him. "hey I got the bag" I say, passing it over to him. He says something about how it's all pointless, he looks like he's lost all hope for... something? Oh well. I think I continue to run off somewhere to look for the rock.

I couldn't remember any of these dreams when I woke up, I then decided to just sit there and see if I could figure it out. It was a real test of patience, I couldn't remember any details at all. After 15 minutes it suddenly just popped into my head though.

      "Rocks ruined my life"

I saw a great ancient settlement. It was a mix of Babylonian, Aztec and Mayan civilisations. Hieroglyphs on a wall made of gold depicted many scenes from it's history, but I couldn't understand anything. I saw a king - a black, bald man wearing golden pants. He sang a catchy song about poison while I've seen an enormous steel syringe apply a poison to a body of another man. The song ended abruptly and I saw a man wandering the desert in search of civilisation and rescue. Every object lying on the ground formed word "Rocks". The man walked up a hill, and saw a huge valley with "Rocks" written all around it by sand or stones. He said "Rocks ruined my life!"

    8. Cat Meat and Nice Vacations

      by , 12-28-2015 at 01:28 AM
I was playing with some pieces of cat separated into parts like it was ready to eat. It was disturbing a little since I think of cats as pets and not food. But in my dream memory I'd seen cat being served like that before (and I have actually had similar dreams before). Anyway, I decided I wasn't hungry.

Then I was on a vacation with my family. I remember my parents and younger niece being there, but there were others too. We were somewhere in New York. We kayaked along a river to a waterfall. Me and my niece were the first ones to make it to the waterfall as the other ones were still kayaking close behind. We climbed some rocks up the waterfall to the hotel room, which was on top of the waterfall, with one wall opened to the outside. The first thing my niece spotted was a hot tub so we got in it. I thought it would be nice after the long kayaking trip through the cold water. It was a big white hot tub with jets but the water was really cold. Me and my niece were talking about how hot tubs were supposed to be hot, so even though I didn't mind the cold water, I found a hot/cold switch on the side of the tub and switched it to "hot." As the water was warming up I thought about how hot tubs sometimes give me headaches and thought I shouldn't stay in there long after the water gets hot.

I looked out over the river and it was very pretty, winding through some trees. I found a map in the hotel room. It was a big map that was rolled up and pulled down with a cord. I couldn't tell if it was an accurate map of New York because I hadn't really closely examined one before.

The next thing I remember I was with my parents and my dad was driving down a red brick road that was actually a pedestrian walkway. Another driver had made a similar mistake and was driving down some brick steps that were also part of the pedestrian walkway. People were staring as the driver was stuck on the steps. People were trying to direct the drivers to the actual road.

Then in another dream I was vacationing again with my boyfriend somewhere. I was digging a green fuzzy plant out of the ground in the woods but the ground wasn't normal ground. It was softer and was as easy to dig through as an apple but the texture was like rubber. It was a light orange color. Then I was somehow mining out pretty rocks with my hands. I pulled out a pretty, irregularly shaped bright green rock. I pulled out pretty transparent whitish rocks. I pulled out some transparent rocks with square shaped patterns. I showed the rocks to a woman and was talking about how cool and pretty the rocks were. I thought I could just take the rocks for free but the woman said I had to go into the building and pay a fee to take the rocks. Different rocks had different fees. I was disappointed but went into the building because I wanted to get the rocks I could afford. I saw the signs with the different fees for the rocks. The building seemed kind of empty as I walked to different rooms. It was like a museum or educational type of place.
    9. Ancient tournament

      by , 06-30-2015 at 08:13 AM (Snehk's Dreamlands)
It was cold, autumn morning. I was in undiscovered ruins of ancient, Aztec like civilisation. There were other random people with me. Mistakenly, we touched an artifact that started a weird tournament. Elder god appeared, and told us that team that wins gets supernatural, godly powers.

I teamed up with two other people, and we were running around the ruins. The only thing that was still standing in place, unchanged thorough the ages were pedestals made of white, weird stones. I realised that placing random rocks at all the pedestals would grant us victory.

In the end, there was only one pedestal. It was a draw between us and another team. The temple with pedestal was on another side of the river. I thought myslef "Damn, I can't swim." But then I found another way to the temple, we ran to pedestal quickly. As the other team was about to place last rock, I took a small stone and thrown it on pedestal. It landed perfectly on the middle of it. All pedestals moved down then, and threwn the rocks down. I said "We won!"
    10. Not Quite a Western

      by , 04-10-2015 at 10:10 AM
Morning of April 10, 2015. Friday.

This was a very long meandering dream without much plot continuity, though somewhat fun all in all. Though it is not lucid, I am still aware of making most of it via some sort of background focus, which is probably why it goes a bit “haywire” as dreams tend to do when my own thoughts shift, sometimes with transient expectancy of the dream itself. Since childhood, a certain kind of dream I have several times a year relates to an older time period being altered by anachronistic features (typically caused by my thoughts shifting or becoming more aware while making a dream), though this one changes in somewhat of a humorous unexpected way regarding my in-dream role and character.

It starts out with some sort of experiment in an unknown indoor location. A portal is opened after several other insignificant events and conversations occur. I have a desire to go through this portal, which is like a glimmering two-dimensional doorway or wavering plane that is just a bit taller than I am. Someone in unusual plaid pants goes through before me, but after a short time, he is seen to be going into a television that is barely big enough for his waist to clear (probably influenced by a similar movie scene relating to being “stuck”, in “Skinny and Fatty” from 1958 and “Housebound” from 2014), though he manages to go through into the implied alternate world or time. After this, my dream shifts to a western setting, similar to the set of “Gunsmoke”, and it is seemingly the 1800s, possibly the 1880s, because I believe it is mentioned at least once.

There does not seem to be any drama other than a horse having a problem with his front right foot. He goes and rests in the corner of a barn and there is something about being fed a special food to accelerate healing though this scenario becomes odd as he eventually seems to have human-like toes, which will make it difficult to put on a horseshoe.

I fly around in several different positions (including sideways) about ten feet from the ground for some time, including in and out of a hayloft from the outside. At one point, I seem to be in an old saloon (with batwing doors) and I notice my wife, though we apparently have not met yet. I embrace her and think about getting married at some future point (even though I already am in reality). She seems to have, as becoming Miss Universe, been getting ready to be in a remake of “Valley of the Dolls, though as some attempt at a "video noir” television broadcast (which also seems related to the minimal western sets) though I know little about video production as such. I am mostly in a very cheerful mood, though.

As I walk into a different area, I notice my father sitting on a couch with several other people around in a semi-dark room. He is playing an accordion and I feel a strong sense of nostalgia. He seems to recognize me though is younger and has not had me as a son yet. We talk for a fair amount of time, but his voice sounds completely different as well as altered by some sort of electronic device. His entire eyes also glow a bright reflective silver at one point, shining in the otherwise semi-dark room. (For some reason, I do not find this unusual or off-putting even though it is a bit eerie.) I tell him that I am his son, or rather “will be” his son in the future. There are at least seven or eight longer exchanges, but I do not recall all of it.

I notice a man who may be a doctor who is sitting at an antique desk. I ask him what year it is to confirm the old west scenes from earlier in my dream. He says, very slowly (almost as if a part of me is deciding what to make him say) 19… (and at this point I am surprised, as it is not 18…) …78. It is 1978, supposedly. He continues by saying that it is July 24, 1978. (I am not sure of the significance of this in context to my dream, though this was shortly after I moved back to Wisconsin.) I think about the people I had met earlier and wonder why this “old western town” exists during this time period (and for some reason I do not reflect upon it as possibly being a movie set), so I go outside to explore again. It seems to be around afternoon and everything is bright, clear, and realistically detailed.

In probably the most vivid scene, I end up going down a long dusty road (through an otherwise featureless field of grass about a foot high) that is covered with old broken pieces of concrete as the surface (something I have never seen in real life). Some of the pieces are as big as my fist. I notice a few modern buildings in the far distance. I eventually decide to walk back after walking perhaps the distance of four city blocks. I see a car moving in the distance on a different (proper) road. I clearly think to myself how this road would not be suitable for cars (due to how very bumpy it would be as well as having sharp bits of concrete causing problems for the tires) even though it is likely used (or maybe will be used) as such at times. From here, I return to the isolated town with the intent to explore some more.

Memory is a mysterious thing. Relative to the date mentioned in my dream (July 24th, 1978) the 1978 Miss Universe pageant was broadcast live on the in-dream referenced date. “Valley of the Dolls” was also aired. There was also an article in the newspaper we got for that date titled “Those ‘Perry Mason’ Reruns Keep Video Noir Genre Alive”. Additionally, I have a dream journal entry titled “Valley of the Dull” (from April 9, 1978 - my wedding anniversary, though long before I was married on April 9, 1994) where I had written about falling asleep while watching it, the audio and half-awake partly discerned visuals at times integrating with my dream. Memory is a very unusual, though vast precise “storehouse” at times.
    11. And in that lies the problem...

by , 09-09-2014 at 12:34 PM (Lucid Time!)
Never thought I would feel so accomplished after having a couple of sloppy dream fragments. But I figured out something that's been bothering me for a very long time.

I recall one dream. I am living on my own in a very hermit-like way. I live in a small prefab home by the freeway and have become in some way obsessed with lucid dreaming. I can recall that for some reason, the entire home is filled with dreamcatchers.
The thing I remember was that some young girl, perhaps 14 showed up. I told her to go away, and that she couldn't gain anything from coming to where I lived. She said she would leave, but she asked me to read this note she had been given first. I open the envelope. The note is actually typed into a very nice greeting card.

*The part that I typed randomly I couldn't make out. I was just trying to match what I recall the note looking like. One line that went across and another below it with just a couple of words.

      Spoiler for Girl's Note:

For some reason, the girls not tipped me off to something, like I could trust her. I let her come inside my trailer home (that was a mess) and she and I made lunch and started talking about various things. Cannot recall what.

One thing I forgot to mention before; but by the power of editing I bring it to you.
The girl made macaroni and cheese and we were eating it on paper plates. But it was not a normal portion. The entirety of both paper plates was covered all the way to the top like a cone; macaroni and cheese. (So a lot.) and we were eating it with these huge spoons.
      ...
I am at the beach. But the dream is very unstable and I feel like there is no sea, just sand. My family is there but I leave them to go alone. I begin walking along the beach seeing the sea phase in and out of existence, being replaced by a sandy flat. I feel somewhat depressed.
At some point or another the sea comes back but it doesn't look right. There are huge, turbulent waves and the sea doesn't go to the horizon, it only runs out a few hundred feet then becomes a sandy flat stretching to the horizon. There are also boulders jutting out of the water. Some people on the beach are trying to swim in the sea but it didn't look like very much fun, given the big waves and all.
I began talking with a dream character who was another lucid dreamer. Supposedly a really good one. We talked for a long time, but I can't recall any of our diolouge.
I just recall this one line from our conversation. It was something I said while nonlucid.

"...I don't know... Lucidity is just so hard to get."

At that moment, I stopped and started to question my reality, but before I could get very far I was awake.
      ...
      I went back to bed.

I recall a couple more dreams, but they were mind-numbingly boring. There was a dream where I rode my bike onto someone's lawn and they got all mad with me and made me pay for it by vacuuming their living room.

There was another dream about my college where I was carrying a huge load of stuff out to my car.

But I want to talk about something, that last line I said while talking to that other lucid dreamer.

"...I don't know... Lucidity is just so hard to get."

When I woke up, I asked myself why on earth would I say something like that to another LDer? If I were talking to someone IWL, I wouldn't say lucidity is hard to get, I would probably say something more like:

"Lucidity is easy! Just use autosuggestion and do some RC's"

It didn't take me long to figure it out. There is some type of conflict here. Consciously, I believe that lucid dreaming is easy, but Subconsciously, I have been disillusioned into believing that it is hard. (By who or what, IDK)
But now comes my question? How do i speak to my subconscious about this? (Especially if you can't access it through a lucid dream reliably.) It's sort of like a catch 22. I need to talk to my subconscious but I can't talk to my subconscious because my subconscious won't let me.
It's like trying to call the phone company because your calls aren't going through.

      Ideas, anyone?

    12. Dome of Ra

      by , 08-22-2014 at 07:36 PM
Pre bed: 3 mel, 500 arg, 500 lysine

      Wbtb: 1/3 latte (other)

The dreams were somewhat unstable although the cycle lasted about 1:30, with deeper than usual sleep in the beginning, around 5 mins of non-ld and chain of lds in the rest. My recall is very fragmented.

Frag ld: In the classroom. I'm about to take some stuff but get very confused with the desks. Awareness increases. Tked a knife and tried to tk control the movement of a fly (partial success).

LD frags (I think one of these was a DEILD): In an underground passage and my awarness is higher, I go up the stairs and possibly get out in the next place I recall.

Inside a house, everything is quite vivid as I go to the balcony outside and see an unbelievable sight. At this point I am thinking about the Pyramid challege and this influences what I'm seeing ahead. It's a valley and a city in the distance but unlike any city that exists. More like a mix of classic and fairy tale architecture. In the middle of the place is a magnificent hexagonal/octagonal dome shaped monument made of dark rock with the eye of Ra on the sides. I'm quite excited by the sight of it but before I can get closer, I lose my vision. Really pissed off that this is happening, but the dream is still here and I can actually hear a number of nearby teenagers talking loudly so I call them for help.

My sight returns in small portions, but I think I lose the dream after that. My recall is bad between different scenes.

It's almost as if I have memorized the structure of the previous house as the next scene begins in a similar place. I recall looking at a number of windows and want to leave the place to go outside. At some point before that I was in the bathroom and left the tap running. Made a mental note about this feeling happy about not caring. There is also snow outside and I am sparsely dressed but say it doesn't matter.

I end up in a room with my parents (maybe after climbing down and then up a balcony), where I see my dad and a doppelgänger of him. It's a bit creepy and I want to go outside so leave the room.

[New scene] Vaguely recall examining and opening a window and imagining outside to be something awesome like the dome before that. Another fantastic sight, this time I watch the entire landscape build in front of my eyes. It's the sea in the distance as well as another amazing fairy tale medieval type of city. The only problem is that the whole background is quite shifty. I want to wait for dream stability to improve before working on a pyramid summon. Something about acting around to give the background city time to stabilize.

Memory gap but this was still related to the previous part of the scene. It's as if I have gone down and am now looking at whatever has become of the surroundings. There are lots of peculiar rocks surrounding me, like rocky mountains with very soft pastel colors. I make a mental note. Then all of a sudden a huge bolder displaces and starts rolling in my direction with great speed. Luckiliy for me, my subcon seems to have assumed a slightly different trajectory and the rock quickly passes at a small distance just above me. I briefly wonder about what would have happened had it hit me and why did it fall in the first place, did my thoughts cause it. [End of memory]

[New scene] The last place I recall, it's more of Asian type of scenery with a grassy hill ahead as I watch two rabbits and something else going down the slope. There is something going in front of the house at the bottom of the hill where we are. The rabbits turn to two crazy looking monkeys with clothes and a tribal man that are coming towards us. I use a part of a plant to block their way. My awareness goes from low to slightly higher and I become interested in seeing what happens once they come close. I approach the two dressed monkeys and turn to talk with the tribal man who keeps switching appearances. The dream soon thins out and I wake up.

    13. Rain of rocks

      by , 07-28-2014 at 09:24 AM (4th DJ-Attempt)
.../I'm out of the city, standing between an open field and a school. The whole sky is densely covered with dark storm clouds. It's dawn. I see there's a lot of people wearing clothes from different religious grounds on the place when we hear a loud roar followed by its echoes. I cannot distinguish if it was a thunder or the eruption of a volcano when I see far in the field a huge rock making its way through the clouds like a meteor although I cannot see any fire nor smoke behind it. On the contrary, it looks like it was thrown by a catapult although it seems to be breaking the speed of sound because of the vapor cloud that can be seen around the rock leaving a white trail across its path which is not regular, as the rock has sort of motion effect that deviates it from its predictable trajectory randomly spinning to any size. It hasn't touch the ground when we see another one, and then another one opening their way through the clouds. Every time closer than the previous one. Producing the same irregular trails across the sky. One of the rocks heavily falls and quick bounces taking some persons with it. The rest of the people panics and run for cover in the yard which is under a second floor of the school. I decide to go with them but I'm starting to think that perhaps it's not a good idea to use this building as shelter. Then I hear a crash sound coming from the roof and almost immediately after, a rock makes its way through the roof above us taking more people with it. I hear screams here and there, people running without direction. It's madness all around. I don't have time to see the gore. I take a look out to the field, where I was standing, the number of raining rocks have significantly increased and it's starting to become dense here too. It's chaos, an Armageddon like feeling starts to spread around the place. I decide it's better to go out somewhere I can see the sky in order to avoid any falling rocks. I go out through the main gates of the school which has turned into my primary school because of the rocks have just started to fall in that side. I get to the street and see a lot of people running out of control. I turn to see the sky enough to realize there's one about to fall right where I am, I have to move fast to avoid it with a jump. It falls to my side taking some persons with it/...

      * Woke up hearing the sound of the wind hardly shaking the leaves of the trees

      * Relative size of the rocks:

      Dream 1

I am outside somewhere with some device that looks like a black waffle iron. It has a flat section that heats up and a flat top that presses down over it. I am picking up cool rocks and flattening them with it. I tell my friend about how cool it is.

      Dream 2

I am at an outdoor pool with Sage and my dad. Sage and I are swimming when a man comes on to the little 'stage' at the edge of the pool. It is the singer from America. He is going to sing but first he is doing some trivia. It is something about a horse with no name and 2 horses with no names. Sage and I get it right and she gets excited because we are like the '2 horses with no names'. We find out that we have won a date. I think this is already the date, but it for somewhere else.

      Dream 3

I am in a big room where lots of people (from school?) are lining up to get free coffee. There's a man at the front of the line spraying coffee into the crowd. I get up towards the front and see two men with what looks like bottles of coffee creamer - caramel and blueberry? flavor. Now, I'm in the hallway with someone. We get to a table that has a huge cake on it. I take a huge piece and tell the guy at the table that I will eat it all. A girl is here and says the windows are dirty. I know I must be at the Green Lantern Inn, so the concert must be tonight and I have to call my dad.

Bad night's sleep, horrendous recalls. This is what I can remember for the first part:

      Bxcxgds. EWRaf asgdsgkldj blaskfj? Adgldskgj!

I woke up at maybe around 2:00 or 2:45 and was couldn't fall asleep due to various things on my mind. So I worked on some things until 3:30am and tried to go back to bed. Still took me a long time to fall asleep, but at least this recall isn't complete gibberish:

I hiked up a mountain. It was at times forested, and at times dry rock -- totally different climates. At one point, I came across a boulder. It wasn't particularly immense or unique-looking, but it felt overwhelming, as if there's a really dense gravity field to it, and it feels like I'm thisclose to it all the time. It actually felt a little like the dreams I'd have when I have a fever.

I'm not sure if I reached the top, or how long this went on. Eventually the dream fades, and I wake up.
