    1. Space Trek 1999?

      by , 09-13-1999 at 09:13 PM
Morning of September 13, 1999. Monday.

It is my wife’s birthday and mysterious packages arrive in the mail, mostly all about the same size. However, we are living at my sister Marilyn’s house. Many of the items remain on the porch.

Over time, I see that they are rather small dioramas from the television show “Space 1999”. For a short time though, I think that one section looks more like the bridge from “Star Trek: The Next Generation”. The model people are very small, not even an inch high. I contemplate on whether or not the computers work in these small models, but that seems unlikely. However, I remember that September 13th is the 256th day of the year, which relates to the number of computer codes (in decimal) for the number of bytes available (though the span is actually 0 to 255, not 1 to 256) and the first range of hex codes up to FFh. This seems significant for some reason, and I am trying to understand how there could be more than 256 days in a year, “day 0” being the start of the new year.

Then things go a bit more hazy. The whole house seems filled with incomplete pieces of spaceship models as parts of dioramas, mostly to the same small scale, and I am not sure who is sending them. I do not think that my wife is that interested, especially as there is not that much room to set them up properly. I learn that one diorama is indeed the open-top bridge view of the Enterprise (from “Star Trek: The Next Generation”) while another is an open-top view of the Eagle from “Space 1999”, or rather, just a smaller section of the inside. They seem to be in “communication” somehow. The Captain Picard character is actually glued to his seat in the model (in sitting position as if in the middle of giving an order), but I think some are free to move a bit. Even though he is less than an inch high, he seems to be “alive” at one point and asking how he can leave his chair. He seems to represent everyman and, even though he is interesting in exploring space and doing his “job” is literally glued to his captain’s chair and unable to leave the porch of the house. I almost “feel sorry” for him even though he is only a less-than-an-inch-high plastic man. It seems strange to have models - as in the back of my mind, I would think these figures get tired of standing or sitting around so long solely to “entertain” their “captors”.
    2. Fictional science fiction movie and other events

      by , 09-20-1997 at 04:52 PM
Morning of September 20, 1997. Saturday.

In one dream, there is a science fiction movie called “1464”. There is a tribe of children on another Earth-like planet who can communicate with other creatures such as water bugs, frogs, and birds. (I am not sure of the significance of the number. It may be some sort of play on my last street address number in America.)

In seemingly a different dream, I am in the future where there are strange giant creatures around in the area I travel to. It is not nightmarish; just unusual.

In another dream, I take my mother to the city to do some shopping. I also get two “Reader’s Digest” magazines in the mail. Both issues have an incorrect variation of the address on the label (which used to happen a lot in real life with a lot of generic commercial mail, including junk mail). In my dream, I am wondering how such a thing could happen. (The most amusing time was when I received a catalog that read “I think” in the address after the street number and name - as if “I think” was a type of, or used in place of, “Street”.)
    3. Time Bomb (interesting science-fiction theme)

      by , 09-28-1979 at 03:28 PM
Morning of September 28, 1979. Friday.

This was a long meandering dream that recurred a few times during the same sleeping period. It also has the common dream theme (regarding my time travel or even “different dimension” dreams) of frustrating appearances of anachronisms (such as modern cars seen in an implied 1800s setting), though in this case, there is a specific “explanation” for it all.

A location that “resets” a few times is based on a supposed “time bomb” just under the surface of the ground at an older abandoned football field in a rural area (which in one version is implied to be part of an abandoned city), where shrubs and high weeds and such have grown along the perimeter (though not much in the abandoned football field itself). I and a few others wander around in several different locations. The main later parts of my dream center on Loomis Street, though most of the events take place on the street rather than the Loomis Street house.

This dream basically takes a play from the idea of “time bomb” in that it is a bomb that apparently fractures time. Later, different periods of history are mixed together in the present. I see cars from the 1920s in one area to the west and more modern vehicles elsewhere. Historical figures (from different times periods) are implied to be alive now as well. This is an intriguing idea I think, but probably not “new” (though I did not research the concept). There is also a seeming “hall of mirrors” effect in my perspective near the end of my dream, depending on where I am looking, which seems to mean that different “pieces” of time are not quite fully integrated into the present.

    4. "Hogan’s Run"

      by , 06-29-1978 at 11:09 AM
Morning of June 29, 1978. Thursday.

This is a very strange mashup dream - the final version being eerily precognitive (regardless of the odd plot), the sparser “prototype” (but far more comedic and cartoon-like) first occurring February 7th, 1978 (shortly after seeing the last “Logan’s Run” episode on its first airing, which was called “Stargate” - unrelated to the later series of that name) - there was a more extensive “repeat” that was more “logical” in some ways (and again, less comedic), on the night June 28th, 1978 to the morning of June 29th, before Bob (Robert) Crane (star of “Hogan’s Heroes”) died in real life - so I am assuming a rather complex level of precognition and synchronicity here. There was also an “anniversary version” on June 29th, 1979 - which had uneasy implications in memory of the prior even though I already accepted it as precognitive regarding the Bob Crane issue. It all is related to a fictional adventure movie that is a combination of two real-life television shows, “Hogan’s Heroes” and “Logan’s Run”. I had finally written a story, but did not keep it when I heard that Bob Crane had died the next day. There has been a later series of the “Logan’s Run” title, and there is apparently going to be a remake.

In my dream, it is “Hogan’s Run”. I will try to include some of the more basic scenes from all versions. I actually play the role of Hogan (Bob Crane) from almost an external awareness of some kind (as if I am hovering above the character at all times) - only the “Hogan’s Heroes” characters and relevant personas are in my dream - none from “Logan’s Run”.

One scene involves soldiers marching at Stalag 13, although it is also like a “Logan’s Run” scenario in some ways. There is a scene where General der Infanterie Albert Burkhalter (Leon Askin) yells at Col. Wilhelm Klink (Werner Klemperer) about needing to “control his men” as they seem to be marching around in a disorderly fashion almost like out-of-control robots (this scene seems to also take place in front of my sister Marilyn’s house on Loomis Street - one of the first dreams since moving from Florida in the last days of June, but there are more trees - though in real life, some of them had gotten Dutch elm disease - incidentally forming DED as an acronym). There is another scene where General Burkhalter suddenly transforms into a gurgling infant in a restaurant where he and Col. Klink are seated at opposite sides of a round table. He is eating applesauce and gets some in his “hair” and on Col. Klink. However, he has only one long strand of hair sticking from the top of his head and forming a slight spiral, but has almost the same face as his adult form. This is possibly due to the word “Infanterie”, as Col. Klink refers (sarcastically) to Burkhalter as “being in infantry” during the meeting - which at that point, seems to actually be in Germany.

There is a disjointed part of my dream that seems to connect to Foghorn Leghorn cartoons, with “duplicate” dog characters related slightly to the soldier scene - then they seem to blur one into another and a scene with two men marching into each other as they become one, slightly disoriented for a short time.

There is a place that sounds something like “Wavering Heights” or “Waverling Heights” (I first assumed a corruption of “Wuthering Heights” - which was coincidentally one of the first things my wife’s mother mentioned when we first made contact) - which I think is one of the main cities in another area that Hogan is trying to get to. (Coincidentally, the place I lived at years later, with my wife and two children at the time, was called “Wavell Heights”, a suburb of Brisbane.) In my dream though, a “waverling” seems to be some sort of name for a half-grown fish.

At the main vivid part, and the seeming outcome (but which changes), Hogan is on some sort of raft that is propelled by some sort of high-tech gadget or motor. There appear to be farm animals aboard. They are singing happily about escaping from the prison camp and going on to freedom on the other side of the big river (even though there is supposedly more pollution where they are going). The song they are singing at one point (see link) is actually one Bob Crane sang in real life with one of the Smothers Brothers. I also used to hear it when I was in sixth grade (where a main issue was pollution at that time, including a song called “Take My Hand My Son”), the lines I most remember being “Pollution, pollution, wear a gas mask and a veil, then you can breathe long as you don’t inhale”. I had my own “stupid version” for a time and not knowing any better, sang “then you can breathe long as you don’t get ill…” I guess I should not feel too bad, as two girls I knew (one being the “other”, Susan R, and the other girl, Susan C), once sang “The answer is blowing in the wind-ow”.

In the end, everything goes really weird and “bubbly”. They go through a “stargate”, which is more like some sort of giant culvert (or part of a dam’s spillway?) or a standalone circular “door” at one point - a portal into another “world” (recurring from late 1960s). They appear to have a miniature Statue of Liberty on board. The raft goes faster and faster, the mood turns happily more cartoon-like, the characters on the raft are leaning more and more forward; the water is spraying about their raft like it is the fastest thing ever. The music gets faster and high-pitched in a near-Mickey-Mouse-like way, almost to the point of being highly annoying and distorted in a surreal sense…“If you visit American city, you will find it very pretty…looong as yooou don’t inhaaale…”. Suddenly, it turns out that Hogan had been sleeping all that time and was still drugged from an attempted escape and in a state of dying. A voice rings out menacingly yet with a melancholy atmosphere. It is the very serious voice of Col. Klink…“I told you…(dramatic pause)…No one ever escapes from Stalag thirTEEN” (stronger accent on “teen”). My dream ends there. Although this section was quite eerily precognitive of the “real Hogan” dying shortly after, it is also a strange play (influence) of the “Deadly Dream” movie from 1971, with Lloyd Bridges - in which it ends the same way and he dies.

The level of “personal foreshadowing” unknowingly triggered by subtle prior causes versus willful (conscious) manifestation versus natural intuition and precognition (in various in-dream composite forms) is completely different in each individual, as everyone has a completely different path and ongoing perspective. Not expecting the death of Bob Crane at only 49 and also having “Logan’s Run” coincidentally rerun just prior to the “prototype” of my dream, and likely unknown or unrealized aspects or incidental connections or “triggers”, contributed to a very strange mix of composite precognition and “typical” dream mashups that oddly, can also be traced back to other causes which seem to be a sort of foreshadowing as well. I have noted a lot of people who have precognitive “mashups” (or odd, incongruous though precognitive composites too complex to be coincidental) who rarely notice or acknowledge them.

    5. Dream Interrupts Dream

      by , 11-03-1977 at 05:03 PM
Morning of November 3, 1977. Thursday.

This was one of the only times a dream seemed to be interrupted by a different dream in an atypical, somewhat startling fashion. I was in one dream and then another dream “broke into it” like a radio broadcast very suddenly “drowning out” another with a completely different degree of awareness.

My second dream was much more vivid than the first (and with growing lucidity). In the first dream, I seem to be at a television studio yet not fully present (not disembodied, just not directly in the environment), the ceiling being about twelve feet high. The New Mouseketeers, all dressed in plain white clothes, seem to be involved in some sort of unlikely science-fiction movie or televised special (perhaps live) but they are also dancing on roller skates and moving past the camera several times without the camera panning in any way. When I look around, I mostly see very large white cubes, almost like steps (but too tall to use as steps and about three cubes high closest to the walls), but possibly containers. It seems fairly dark and isolated in some areas of the huge building (but not completely dark in any areas) and the otherwise featureless warehouse-like setting. Their dancing, motions, and singing (which I think the main line or title is “The World’s a Balloon”) becomes slightly annoying (almost perceived as bizarre) though they seem to be getting a bit more enthusiastic and practiced in their performance, almost frenzied in fact, but in a comedic sense.

Suddenly, there is a clearer awareness of mood and location that jumps like a needle on a record and I am in a different dream flying over Key West almost as if I had been plucked from one dream (of a completely different level of clarity and awareness) and put into another. Even the depth perception seems quite different and somewhat enhanced. A very long bridge stretches out over the ocean as I watch the cars move over it as I fly along. It is extremely vivid though the ocean is a deep purple. Everything else looks normal including the sky. Dreams do have a tendency to jump from scene to scene in some cases, but this was actually like a different type of experience, like actually “changing channels” and a quite different mental awareness at the same time.

    6. K-9 Force (science-fiction theme)

      by , 11-21-1975 at 05:21 PM
Night of November 21, 1975. Friday.

In a diminishing transition from viable lucidity to semi-lucidity, I am chased by dogs after unintentionally trespassing beyond a fence in an industrial area that is adjacent to a desert with minimal landscape features, though which looks deserted. It seems to be in the distant future, though this perception was likely otherwise influenced by similar panoramas in science-fiction movies I had seen in real life.

I am confronted by talking dogs (or so it seems at first). The dogs are mostly Dobermans and black Labrador Retrievers. They seem to be some sort of task force to catch me and somehow bring me to their owners or force me to go in the direction of where their owners are. I am uncertain of the backstory. I am not sure if the dogs are meant to be owned by people who are legitimate owners of the property or if they were trained by outlaws who have taken over the industrial area. At first, I had considered if the dogs were on their own, of augmented intelligence, and in control of the area, but this seems less likely over time.

I am aware of the logo embossed on the metallic kite-shaped pendants on their collars being “K-9” as a play on “canine” (though my dream self does not seem fully understanding of this factor). It is not clear if this is the name of the industrial complex or the security team of solely dogs (or inclusive of their owners as a group). However, I start to consider if “K-9” is a codeword for the main dog and if other codes are on other collars, such as “L-10”, or “J-8”, which I seem to briefly perceive on another pendant.

Over time, I manage to escape from each situation, such as by climbing up higher in one case.

Eventually, I realize that the dogs are not talking but are being given instructions through some sort of comm device in their collars (which is what I had been hearing from the beginning), though I am sometimes addressed as well. I also get the impression that their collars also have small microphones. I eventually end up hiding out in a large warehouse, but not much happens after this other than initiating the usual doorway waking symbolism when my semi-lucidity returns.

    7. The Shrinking Planet

      by , 08-13-1975 at 12:38 PM
Morning of August 13, 1975. Wednesday.

This dream was strongly influenced by a random symmetrical inkblot I made (at age fourteen) that looked much like a more detailed version in my dream’s outcome. I am not a main character and seem to be watching as if it is a movie. (Some of the inkblots I made as a teenager, as well as numerous other things I made, including comic strips and short stories, are possibly with relatives and stored away somewhere.)

Two astronauts land on a planet, which, over time, begins to shrink. Not much happens other than the (unknown and male) astronauts reacting to land features that are smaller and closer together than previously. For some reason, their rocket-ship also shrinks, apparently to the same continual proportions of the planet, but they do not. There does not seem to be any in-dream back story over why the planet is shrinking.

In the end, they are seen hanging off the planet from each side, hanging in outer space, almost looking as if they are pressing a beach ball above their heads and the image is perfectly symmetrical.
    8. CAT 58-A (a science-fiction dream about a special rocket)

      by , 05-05-1973 at 11:05 AM
Morning of May 5, 1973. Saturday.

In my dream, I have access to a blue-gray spacecraft that is primarily egg-shaped, and I seem to become a part of the apparent NASA setup after being a “giant” in an earlier scene that was in my Cubitis living room (though I do not recall shrinking or much of the backstory). The events all seem to be taking place at night. The spacecraft is called “CAT 58-A”. It eventually seems that Cat 58-A is my rocket-ship though I do not actually fly in it at any point though I do sit inside it a few times as well as walk around the outside of it at the supposed NASA testing site. The site has semitrailer trucks and what looks like power transformers.
    9. "Homing Magazines" (science-fiction theme)

      by , 04-07-1973 at 11:31 AM
Morning of April 7, 1973. Saturday.

I have come to realize that even this (much older) dream had at least one precognitive element; that is, a tag on an item when in a store to know when someone has stolen (or is trying to steal) the particular item - although the first time I saw something similar in real life was years later at the main library in Wisconsin, and later on, the usage of such a device in record and video stores and finally grocery stores (regarding my own experiences, anyway).

In my dream, I am in some sort of science-fiction movie called “Homing Magazines”, which is a play on “homing pigeons”, I take it. My dream features a “ridiculous” (at the time, at least to my family and me) idea that stores, including grocery stores, could tell when someone was taking something by causing a simple beeping (several years before it happened in real life, at least seemingly where I lived in a small rural area) by having some sort of tag on the item that can be activated or deactivated or have something over it (like a tinfoil sticker or some such) to “turn it off” - a sort of “scanner”.

There were a few versions of this dream. The first one was a mix of science-fiction and crime drama, where the store (similar to something I saw quite later in real life, so that is another precognitive facet) made a claim that their prices were much higher due to shoplifting, which seemed obnoxious, kind of like the mentality of when the activities of one “class clown” results in the whole class being punished.

The device also acts as some sort of homing beacon, which then actually causes the items to somehow fly back to the store or warehouse. Magazines move through the air late at night like magic carpets. A box of tacks opens, and with some sort of magnetic pattern, causes each individual tack to fly in formation like a large number of airplanes (or a flock of geese), point first. However, action figures only walk (not fly) back and toy cars drive back. Certain food items, like milk cartons, do fly back to one store, though. Pink-frosted doughnuts move through the night sky like miniature UFOs.

Eventually, it comes to the attention of the authorities that one store is taking everything back, but when people finally go to investigate, the store has moved to another location. I see various items moving through the air late at night to the new location. The new technology even senses people and their movements and speech and deliberately leads them to wrong locations. There is then a special crime lab that studies the “rogue technology” as they call it, although I am vaguely aware of the term “maverick tech”, possibly the name of the business that makes the illegal technology. This eventually causes all stores to drop theft-related technology and offer higher competition in their “loss leaders”.
    10. Things…From Outer Space

      by , 11-07-1970 at 09:24 PM
Morning of November 7, 1970. Saturday.

Although this was one of my favorite dreams of this time period, I guess I really was not very good at coming up with more precise titles (or even interesting ones) in many cases (the original title, here, had never been changed to any other title in other transcriptions to sometimes allow for more detail with similar dreams). The song from my dream, which I actually recorded a few times when younger (unfortunately, without any sense of musical taste) - brings fond memories of hilarious incompetence. Then again, this was a “movie soundtrack” in a sense (or more of a “dream soundtrack”). It opens with a showing of not-very-realistic stars as if the camera is moving through space at a fairly slow speed. The higher mid-range male voice moans somewhat slowly and sadly, “Thi-yi-yi-yi-yings…from outer spay-yay-yay-yay-yace…may bring truh-uh-uh-ooh-ble…for the human ray-yay-yay-yee-yace…”

June 2015 UPDATE: After all these years, I have decided upon an interesting viable association with the human hand. Apparently, it was a giant land-going cuttlefish.

The main first scene is a “giant human hand” (the right hand - with bulging but human-like eyes and a crown placed on its “knuckles” with special effects of some kind) that moves from right to left, spider-like (as I have decoded spiders to often represent negative associations with human hands due to their visual matching as even the “Alien” movie did with the “facehugger”, though in a few dreams they had a positive association with human hands in connection with “The Eensy Weensy Spider”), with an eerie stop-motion-like effect on the sand in the area it is “walking” but not quite as much with the “alien monster” itself. The imagery seems to have the same overall mood as the scene from “Dinosaurus” from 1960, where in-dream, I reflect on the sand moving in a similar way as the dinosaur’s body is dragged along the beach (which may be an augmented sense, “amplified” in-dream). The fact that I know this “alien monster” is actually a human hand (moving through a model of the school grounds?) seems to remove all sense of any possible threat from my dream. I find it intriguing how some of my dreams were able to “amplify” the very clear but somewhat artificial feeling of some of these movies from the early 1960s, especially the stop-motion ones like “Mysterious Island” (1961) and “Jason and the Argonauts” (1963), two of my favorites.

Later, however, I am in the high school building where I and other West Elementary students sometimes went to the auditorium in real life to see various shows and such. I am trying to “hide” from a large orange “octopus man” (also with a crown) who is mostly moving around in the dark because of a teacher having sent me to turn the power off to possibly “trap” him due to his supposed poor vision. I am doing this by staying to the right outer side of the doorway as a tentacle moves out from the doorway now and then, moving near me but not touching me. I suppose that I could move to the left and leave the area, but for some reason, I remain near the doorway.

The crowns were quite plain and similar to crowns in several other dreams. Mostly orange-tinted and with a seemingly engraved triangle waveform on the band, similar to the zigzag pattern on Charlie Brown’s shirt, but not quite as thick. Sometimes, I get the sense of two short antennas on either end of the crown, with a lightning bolt moving between them. I had drawn pictures with this feature during this time period.

There are a few other scenes involving Toby T and the fact that we will probably still be going to school even with all these strange creatures moving around town. There are also parts of music playing, from the song “Aquarius” from “Hair” - and I get the sense it is related to “this movie” in-dream. At one point, there is a giant bat and human composite, which was not mentioned in all documentation instances.

New research implies that “Zontar: The Thing from Venus” was also possibly an influence. It had aired after “Dinosaurus” on the previous evening on “Shock Theatre”.
