    1. Nap Time with Lion

by , 03-09-2015 at 09:13 PM (Schmaven's Dream Journal of Randomness)
I'm laying in bed next to my girlfriend, just relaxing in the time before I fall asleep. She's already asleep, so I try not to move much and wake her up. Then her pet lion jumps up in bed with us! It's huge, but not very ferocious. But it does step on my solar plexus with a single paw and it's really heavy. I squirm a little, and it steps somewhere else, then lays down next to me. It's still pretty comfortable here, so I close my eyes and let sleep take its sweet time.

Then as I think I fall asleep, I wake up! No lion.

I would really benefit from more RCs...
    2. Portal opening

      by , 01-05-2015 at 01:15 AM
Me and a few others have been poking around this seemingly abandoned house, and I have a suspicion that I'm getting more and more certain of as we explore. I finally voice it: this is my house, or rather, this world's version of me; a female version apparently. I'm reasonably certain we can use this as a way to connect between the worlds, since neither version of me is in our original world right now. We'll test it by passing through some random object - I pick up what looks like a game piece, a notched wooden peg painted green. I'll go to sleep with it in my pocket, and it should pass over to her side while I'm asleep.

Time skip. One of the people I'm traveling with - earnest young blonde man, round glasses, dressed in robes that remind me of the Magician's - is setting up what looks like a summoning circle, directing the others. He fills me in on what happened while I was unconscious this time around: the people in the other world were able to deliver the third of the necessary artifacts to us. It goes unsaid, but the important part was less the specific artifact and more the fact that it was an object that had passed between worlds, though they also have to represent specific elements. We're going to use the artifacts to open up a portal we can all get through. I'm vaguely annoyed about having such a one-sided view of things, only being able to see the events unfolding in this one world, getting half the story; but it can't be helped, I have to be asleep for any communication between worlds to occur.

    3. Using illogical thoughts to induce sleep

      by , 11-26-2014 at 07:40 PM
So, I was having some difficulty falling asleep and decided to try out the method*. At first, I was trying to make random semi-meaningful sentences and phrases "They came for the food; People sitting on road, etc.", then switched to more meaningless stuff and finally went on to random generation of a set of any three words, sometimes with a slight association between the words "hobby batman train", "milk bread wall".

One of the early effects while trying to generate these words was that I started having mini memory flashbacks of real scenes from the past. This sometimes happens to me when reaching a clear but conscious state of mind and the memories are real ones rather than imaginary.

As I continued with the exercise, a number of past dream memories, again real ones started mixing with the life flashbacks. These weren't very vivid and would last a second or so as I was fully concentrating on the word exercise.

I was getting somewhat tired of continuously generating random words and also my awareness was beginning to slip away. At this point, I noticed the emergence of other random scene flashes, but those contained novel or rather different (not real dream or life memories). This is not new to me as I had on other occasions observed that the more towards unconsciousness I would drift, the more of these different scenes I get, while when my mind is fully aware and quiet it tends to get more real memory flashbacks. No idea what this is all about.

Anyways, the interesting part was that as I was struggling to generate a new set of words, I would begin to get a random flashback scene before each word (now a mix of true past places and some unknown random places), and my mind would actually scan the scene for an object or action and use it in the word set! And this would go on for every word or sometimes two words would come from the same scene. It a was really cool realization when it happened the first time, then I let the process continue. I wasn't fully asleep at this point and took a step back towards wakefulness to review the process. Then continued a bit more with the word generation, eventually got tired and stopped and fell asleep.

Looking forward to playing with this again!

*Tnx to Xanous, Jeff and CL for the ideas and links.

    4. Energy medicine

      by , 11-05-2014 at 01:33 AM (Keitorin's Dream Log)
      From November 3rd.

I’m at a pharmacy with a group of people to get medicine. We’re directed to another line to the left. I get mine but someone with me points out that he gave me the wrong one. I look at the carton box and see the brand name and ‘Energy’ under it. Mine isn’t supposed to have that.

I get back in line, and I think I skip ahead of someone to the right who’s leaning on the counter, and get it exchanged. I figure the Energy one must have been accidentally put in the wrong place.

      Jump.

I climb the counter in a house’s kitchen and look in the medicine cabinet. I see different kinds of meds, one a being a clear bottle with purple energy medicine in it. I take a sip against my better judgment, because I know I’m about to go sleep.

In a room, I had my moved my bare blue small mattress (actually my old twin-sized one IWL) over to the left on the floor. I have a stereo playing. I realize one of the halves of the green curtain over the door fell. I fix it, then cover both sides with a yellow curtain. Part of me thinks this is weird.

I realize that I can’t even hear the stereo that’s on in the kitchen so I may as well turn it off and just keep mine going (even though I can’t see it).

I remember wondering if the energy stuff I took was affecting me.

Inspirations: I had a conversation with mom about not drinking the Energy flavored water anymore but I have one left so I put a tiny amount of that in my jug whenever I make up some flavored water. Meds part comes from being nervous about my doctor’s appointment mixed with the energy drink thing. We actually do have a yellow curtain at the bottom of the stairs. The stereo part comes from me having to turn off dad's iPod radio in the kitchen yet again because he’s got his headphones on in the other room and can’t hear it anyway.

    5. Demon/Spirit Attack?

by , 10-09-2014 at 04:24 PM (Schmaven's Dream Journal of Randomness)
I'm laying in bed, trying to fall asleep (or so I think I am), when I hear my co-worker tell me that he just lets go completely. I try this, and feel amazing as my body falls asleep while my mind is awake. I go in and out of a really cool sensation, then feel a strange presence in my room.

I sense a being that is made completely of shadows and fear - the essence of darkness and evil itself. Quite a strong presence, but not a very happy one.

It is either a spirit or a demon, I'm not sure which it is, but there is definitely a presence here, and it doesn't like me being alive apparently. I don't mind that, and try to mind my own business, but this spirit/demon seems to attack me. I am partially crushed psychically, and have trouble breathing.

I start saying a mantra to ground me in the experience of safety, but feel too intense of a presence that is trying to harm me to even remember my mantra. "Alright, then I guess I'll just feel love for everyone since I can't do anything else"

It turns out that works more or less to pacify the demon/spirit thing. I feel like I'm left alone briefly, and allowed to collect myself. But not for long, as I feel like I am having my soul ripped from my body very shortly thereafter. I'm pretty much okay with that, I figure the end has to come sometime, but it is a little surprising. Still not many options for what to do, so I just feel love for everyone again. It seems like when I deeply do this, I am invincible. Not in the sense that my body won't die, but that my mind will not cease. It feels good to love everyone anyway.

I hear it say in a rhaspy clicky kind of voice, "booooooo bohohohohp annnnnnnnd hoooooooooold Z level now" Still not sure if it is a dream or not, I decide to just get up because it doesn't feel like I'm getting much rest facing this challenge right now, and there are things I must be doing.

At the very least, I feel like I can handle these kind of things now. Not that I enjoy it, but that it's not much of an issue.
    6. First ever SP Experience

      by , 06-18-2014 at 08:29 AM
Wow...I had such a shock last night. It came in so unexpectedly, I didn't know what to think!

Okay, so last night I woke up around 4:30. Not from a dream, or lucid dream, but I just woke up from normal sleep.
I was lying there and suddenly I head this buzzing noise ringing in my ears. It became louder. Also, you know when you're on a plane and you can hear the steady humming of the engines? Well strangely enough, that's what I heard as well. The two sounds combined made it incredibly loud, and I was pretty confused at what was going on.
Then, I felt this sensation come over me, like all my limbs suddenly held this tension in them. In an instant, I completely understood ...no no no no! Sleep paralysis! :O

I attempt to gently move my arm, but as I do, I feel this incredible force push down onto it, making it feel as though it is literally super-glued to the bed. The sensation was so strange and unreal to me that I let my inner fear take over a little. I knew there was no reason to be scared, as it was all just a natural thing, but I could help but feel a little panic settle in.
After about 30 seconds to a minute, my limbs suddenly released all that tension and were free to move again. The buzzing had gone, and I was fine after that!

I knew that I would probably have to experience SP sometime sooner or later if I continued to do lucid dreams, and I guess that last night was one of those moments! I'm kind of glad that it happened though, now I know how it feels like and I don't have to worry about it too much again.

So yeah, this was my first Dream Journal entry, I hope you enjoyed it! Feel free to post any comments. (:

      Happy lucid dreaming!

    7. First Nap WILD, Girl Friday Sex

      by , 12-04-2013 at 09:42 PM
First Nap WILD occurred on #80, I was beginning to think LDs during naps was not for me!
12/4/13 I lay down about 1 hour & 45 minutes after waking for the day...morning nap. Before laying down I read this one time: Why You Fail at WILDs - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views (I had read it before, keys in article for me: customize WILD attempt to you and FALL ASLEEP). I then read Naiya's sub-post #7 of 8 here: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...tml#post850578 The part that carried into my attempt the most was changing the noises you hear to something you want them to be. For me I was hearing the bed creaking like someone getting into it and I just quickly noted the sound and imagined Girl Friday getting into bed...though I probably carried the visualizations too far which probably kept me too awake longer. The process may have taken an hour as I was holding on to too much consciousness, but I am confident I can fall asleep quicker next time. I also heard city noises (probably actual WL noises) and kept them what they were only changing the scene from which I was hearing them to something other than my bed during a WILD attempt. I probably need to do this quicker and then let go. Earlier as I was getting ready to lay down I repeated a mantra that I recognize the vibrations. I think lately my consciousness was gone by the time they arrived (if they arrived at all). My gut feeling is that they were not showing up as much because I had gotten beyond the novelty of the sensation, but not sure. Either way, they had been a big part in me entering WILDs in the past and I thought a mantra to keep an eye out for them would help and I think the mantra did help. For me once the vibrations start in earnest you are at the door of the dream. By the end of the process it was barely a tiny thread of consciousness still there when I felt the vibrations which ramped up my consciousness, but in a smooth non-jolting way. I nudged the vibrations on and soon felt my dream body but no scene and started paddling forward with both dream arms and in the beginning with each stroke propelling myself forward I was still getting fairly strong vibrations as if I needed to keep paddling forward to keep from returning to my sleeping body and propel myself further into the dream. Eventually the vibrations faded and I could feel myself in the water and kept paddling but felt like I didn't want to just keep doing this so I imagined that I was paddling towards a beach (did this in a previous LD as well). I imagined also that Girl Friday would be on the beach, she was fresh on my mind from the HH bed creaking tweaks I mentioned earlier. I crawl my way onto shore and there she was in a sexy bikini red with white polka dots matching top and bottom. To cement the idea that she was ready for me I said something like I am sorry it took me so long, I know you have been waiting for me in a sexy deep voice. I caress her face and push back her hair and wipe bits of almost glowing sand from her cheeks and we begin to kiss for a while. I then reach back behind her back and untie her bikini top and
      Spoiler for X-rated:
and I slowly felt myself returning to my bed where I heard a woman with a frantic, unintelligible cry that morphed into the dog I could hear barking in waking life! Very interesting. I made a quick DEILD attempt and did 2 motionless RCs even though I was sure I was awake and then a few physical RCs to keep true to my new goal to catch as many FAs as possible. I failed to do that when I got up for the day earlier before this nap...so sure that I was awake, but I got to get better at RCing every single time.

Other recent LDs not journaled on DV were all DILDs. Quick recap of DILD realization moments: FA and saw hands and arms raised up behind a tv and realized I am dreaming; talking to my brother and his old roommate I notice that the roommate has these weird marking on his face that look drawn on and realize I am dreaming; paying for items at convenience store and I notice all of my coins are very old from the 1700's and I realize I am dreaming - one odd coin might not have done it; can't reach the brake pedal in my big old Impala like car (never owned one but saw some nice ones at a car show within the last few months) and realized I am dreaming; sitting talking with my son and his cousins I think to bring up lucid dreaming and realize I am dreaming.
    8. success returning to sleep, including dealing with slow-to-sleep waking

      by , 11-28-2013 at 08:35 PM
I had some success returning to sleep last night that I'd like to share and comment on.

I had bedtime at around 00:00, and wakings at: 03:00 (recall), 04:25 (no recall),
At around 04:45 I realize I'm not making progress back to sleep. I don't feel drowsy at all. There's no "sleepiness" waiting for me at the exhale of relaxing breaths. I think that's an important signal that sleep is not near, or I'm mentally "holding on too tight" and need to do something to change up the situation and shake this hidden tension loose. Just lying in bed and continuing to relax is not going anywhere.

At about 30 minutes of not sleeping I decide to follow the advice given in several places: get out of bed. You do not want your mind/body to associate being in bed with being awake. I decide to do a "proper" WBTB. Sit in a rocking chair about 20 minutes with eyes closed, working on incubation and visualisation. Move to kitchen, warm some milk & drink it, sit there (all the time in the darkness as much as possible). Massage my jaw muscles (typically the major tension holder in the body). Do some relaxing breaths and find some drowsiness there on the exhale. Decide I'm feeling a bit more drowsy, if not super sleepy, so I go back to bed at 06:00. My alarm is set for 07:30, in the past this knowledge would keep me awake but I ignore it and do not sweat it. I don't "try to sleep", I just try to totally relax more and more deeply on each exhale. Try to maintain the relaxation on the inhale (it seems to receded a bit on the inhale for some reason). I'm sure I can make one more sleep cycle with dreams before the alarm sounds.

back to bed at 06:00 slept fairly quickly, waking at: 07:36 (alarm) (recall)

Back to bed (not main bed, alone, cooler room) at for nap at 09:00 (not too long falling sleep, surprisingly lots of drowsiness on exhale), wakings at: 10:12 (recall) (also not long getting back to sleep after 5 minutes of voice journaling in bed), 12:14 (recall + lucid dream!)

What do I mean by "relaxing breath?" Well, an inhale/exhale that is just a little bit longer than sleep breathing. Not really a big deep breath, just a little bit longer than a normal breath. Inhale as normal, but when exhaling try to imagine all tension melting out of everywhere in your body and mind. Try on each breath to go deeper and deeper, becoming more and more relaxed. I even tell myself these words sometimes (a form of sleep hypnosis induction). Sometimes I constrict my throat a bit to provide a little bit of resistance and sound to the exhale.

This is very encouraging: I'm having more and more success with this technique. With each success come more confidence in my ability to go back to sleep, reducing back-to-sleep stress. For those times where nothing works, get out of bed for a while to shake things up. Sometimes, your body / mind just may not be able to sleep, just know that this won't last forever. As a last resort try something like melatonin. Traditional techniques like warm milk can really help, too.

Eat a small snack if you've been up for a while, it's hard to sleep when hungry.

Make sure the temperature is comfortable for you, this is very important for me I've found. Keep a thermometer by the bed and record temperature at bedtime and waking time and record in your dream journal how well you sleep for that temperature.
    9. It's been a rough week

      by , 08-28-2013 at 01:06 AM
this last two days i haven't been able to remember my dreams. I haven't sleep well. I have to much things to do and i been using my computer too much. I just found that been in front of the computer before going to sleep weakens your ability to fall sleep fast and prevents your REM so you don't get to remember your dream. Today i will stop using my lap at least two hours before going to sleep.

Method: MILD & WBTB with WILD
      Total Sleep Time: 8-9 hours

      Dream #1

Well, I went to bed extremely sleepy, so sleepy, I broke a record by going to bed before midnight! I kept waking up in the middle of night, I guess because I went to bed so early, I kept thinking it was time to get up. I would use the bathroom and every time I would get back to bed, I would say my mantra and try my best to stay awake. Sometimes, I would go to sleep, but I would be back up in a couple of hours doing the same thing all over again. (that's just how my body works, I naturally wake up in the middle of night). Well, by the third time, in the middle of a dream, I felt my vibrations and I became lucid. I was in what looked like a hotel and I was talking to someone at the front desk. I couldn't get over how the person didn't really look like a human to me (and I can't explain what he looked like either). Somehow, my super lucid senses kicked in and I heard a voice in my head say, "Stop staring and hug the damn thing...NOW!" I flew over that counter and wrapped my arms around that 'thing' and held on for dear life! After what seemed a few minutes, I let go (I guess I thought if I didn't hold on long enough the thing would vanish or evaporate). I was so scared, but I had to wait for the reaction, so I just stood there ready to be vaporized or punched in the face by that thing, but instead, it just smiled at me. I lost lucidity soon after that, but when I woke up, I wrote down the little bit I retained and laid back down trying to see if I could continue, but I think the excitement messed that up for me. I was so excited! I don't know where that voice came from that told me to hug that thing, but THANK YOU!

      Dream #2

I laid back down and repeated my mantra and went back to sleep and had a non-lucid, but it was very vivid. I was in an elevator and it kept going up and down without stopping. The other DC in the elevator told me that it must be broken and soon I began to freak out. I suffer from extreme motion sickness in WL, so I guess this followed me into my dream world, so I felt my stomach start to bubble and boil..I was getting ready to hurl. The DC started moving around trying to push the buttons on the elevator and calling for help and finally, the elevator stopped. When the doors of the elevator opened, I fell out the doors like a puddle of liquid and the other DCs just stepped over me to go on their merry way. I felt like I was still in a hotel because I went up to my room and I found several people sleeping as I tried to tell them what had just happened to me. They didn't want to hear it because they were asleep and one of them told me to shut up and go to sleep! So...that is exactly what I tried to do...until I saw a live turtle stuck to my shirt !
    11. Now Entering My Subconscious Dream [LUCID] [WILD Technique]+ Hallucinating In Real Life

      by , 07-23-2013 at 04:28 PM
So it's 3am and I'm soo tired because I've never been to sleep in 2 days out of curiosity and stupidness. So tired I am hallucinating while awake that the lights all over my house were flickering really fast even though all the lights weren't even on (confirmed by my step sister laughing at me) and me hearing random people in my head talking(not tulpae if you know what I mean by that). I layed on my bed until I got sleep paralysis, closed my eyes and instantly got thrown into a dream or closed eyed hallucination?

I am in what looks like a tunnel that is swaying me back and forward while seeing in front of me an odd spiral and feeling as if i'm about to be sucked in. After a few minutes of trying to stop this weird force of energy swaying me back and forward I hear a female robot like voice say "Now Entering Subconscious". Just to note, from when I closed my eyes I was already 100% lucid. A huge flash of light nearly blinding me came across my vision and within seconds I was standing in what I felt was my subconscious. There were blue transparent blocks everywhere and floating dream characters that I've seen from previous

I leaped onto another block, and another block and another. I found myself in a black room that I can see clearly in. My brain was there and was vibrating so loud that the invisible floor beneath me were shaking my legs. There were 2 rooms, one labeled "Thinking room" and the other labeled "Extras" I walked into the thinking room which was a green room filled with green lasers floating around me. I pressed a blue button that was on the wall. I heard things like "Why are they staring at me,fuck this, waste, school sucks, am I normal?, do I look awkward?" and loads more. I went to check out the Extras room and it felt like my brain was going to explode. My thoughts were racing VERY fast. I heard over 100 different voices talking really fast and even some yelling. I could solve complicated math problems without even thinking and blue smoke filled the room. After a minute I couldn't take it and ran out. Then Kitana from Mortal Combat came around the corner and put her hand around me and asked if I was ok. Then, everything just started breaking. The floors, blocks, people, rooms started shattering like glass leaving me in an empty black space floating. I then woke up.

Bedtime routine: MILD & WBTB (I keep falling asleep during my WILD attempts, so I decided to forgo it tonight)
Total sleep time: 6-7 broken hours of sleep, kept waking up and having a hard time going back to sleep (Damn you insomnia! )

      Dream

Dreamed I was doing a research study on how children turn out as adults if they slept in their parents bed for most of their childhood. The results indicated that these children grew up to need much more attention than other children, these children may also be more susceptible to drug and alcohol usage from lack of coping skills, and their parent's marriages failed early due to the lack of sex (I have no idea where this dream came from ).

      Frag

Dreamed I had several tattoos covering my entire body but I had no memory of how they got there .

      Legend: Dream, Semi-Lucid , Lucid

      Sleeping:
I'm in a room , my cousins mother is there, it's about 3:00 in the dream, we're talking about something and trying to fall asleep at the same time. I don't remember much else.

      7th construction:
I'm playing the character of Zero ( from code geass) and i'm checking progress of construction on something called the 7th. As i watch, i see a worker placing a self down somewhere and i ask jeremiah ( another character from the anime) if that self was supposed to be placed there. He then gets mad at me for doubting his ability to build. Next thing i know, i'm inside a room and i throw up two times, something had me sick xD.
Also while i'm in that room , i remember being in third person and viewing a lake of blood with jeremiah in his spinning mech outside coming to attack me.

      Showers:
A dream with showers in it. I remember being in my house, i really need to take a shower , but there's lots of strangers in our showers. I decide to go down the hall and use a different bathroom but there's people in that too. Darn!.

      The mysterious skulls:

In this dream, i remember being on a foreign planet digging up piles of skulls with a team of 3-5 people. We eventually find what we're looking for. It's a skull with magical powers, but it's only one of many different skulls out there that are unique like this, and each skull has a different power. I also remember in this dream, having my car parked in the middle of a road.
    14. Giants in the Antarctic

      by , 02-26-2013 at 08:19 PM (Ultra-Rad Dreamage Supreme)
I had a dream last night that was kind of nightmarish. My coworkers Dan, Dustin, and I were all giants; like Gulliver's Travels size, so that as we waded through the ocean the waves lapped up against our knees. We were wading our way down towards Antarctica. Why? When you're that tall, why not?

We got to the south pole, and from my perspective, the entirety of the Antarctic continent was about the size of an extra large pizza with a conical shaped mountain in the center. We stood around it, gawking and joking about how small it was in person. For some odd reason, I remember dipping my finger into the waters just offshore of the continent and schools of tuna would swarm around it. They would disperse and reconvene as I raised and dipped my finger, so I did it for a little bit out of amusement.

I turned my attention back to the continent, and the was a yellow mamba snake coiled around the mountain wearing a yellow cloth hood (?). Dan and Dustin encouraged me to grab it and toss it, but I was so terrified I couldn't move (actually sleep paralysis). I tried to back away from the snake, worried it would turn around and strike, but I literally could not move because my body was still in sleep paralysis. Eventually my bod came to and in turn I awoke from the dream. Snake averted!

      Football

IWL, I've been spending time at a friends house watching and throwing a football, eating and drinking, and so forth.

Last night I dreamed I was at this house, but didn't bring anything to drink. At first I was lying down. There wasn't enough room for me to lie down.

Then I was up and realized I needed to get something to drink for the party. There was snow on the ground, but I was determined so that I wouldn't be asking to drink other people's beverages. Others were advising against leaving under those road conditions, but I was going to leave.

      Dream skip

I'm going to throw a football. I can throw my "The Duke" football, or another professional size football. I feel the other ball to determine which I prefer. I prefer my football--"The Duke," but I wanted to feel the other football well since I'd already made my decision. This was the best part of the dream. It wasn't so exciting, but I got a very good sensation of feeling from the football. It was really cool.

      The End

My dreams followed close behind what I was thinking about as I went to bed.
