Iím with Laynie, and itís like weíre at work, but right now we are on a street corner. There is a video monitor up on a pole, and Iím trying to pull back video on it. It ends up stopping on just someoneís feet, which we think is kind of funny. I briefly ponder the implications of leaving our recorded video playing for everyone to see. I think itíd be beneficial, but thereís no doubt someone would be offended. I now try to log out, pressing control, alt, and delete. We now cross the street and I see, on the other side of the street, a building that must be our work. It looks low and long, a glossy dark navy/grey, and more organic than not. I notice a sketchy seeming black lady who I think just got dropped off. She hesitates and then enters the building. I look over to Laynie, but sheís noticed her also. We enter the building but stall for a minute so as to give her just a little space initially. Weíve gone to the right and into a room that has a long, grey, ovular table (it may actually be a horseshoe shape, with empty space in the middle) with two men sitting towards the end. There is another video monitor, which I tap with a pen or something, just pretending to be doing something on it. The man seated facing more towards it sees this and chuckles, saying ďkids.Ē I just laugh along with him and his limited perception, his not knowing what weíre really doing. We now enter the Sephora here and see the girl pretty much right away. She notices us also. We are not even near her or overtly watching her when she ends up by us, saying that she feels like sheís being watched. I reply quite lengthily, telling her that there are plenty of other people in here shopping that donít feel like theyíre being watched. I also tell her that Iíve been watched before while shopping but still bought what I was looking for, though Iím not sure thatís actually happened to me. She seems to understand, but still leaves without buying anything. I see her meet up with a white girl who also has a black purse. There is a sort of hallway or foyer between the Sephora and the glass doors to the outside. Thereís then a small bit of pavement before a large, lush lawn. At the end of the pavement, they each throw a pair of shoes or sandals into a trashcan. I notice theyíre both still wearing sandals, so I think they mustíve switched into new ones. I linger in the foyer and notice a black car parked in the shade of some trees near the top of the sloping lawn. The girls double back, but so have I, so that they see me walking past, but not overly suspiciously so.

I am at work with Laynie. Iím not sure if Iím on cameras or out on the floor, but I notice a lady enter who Iím pretty sure has stolen before. I think she has a black backpack and a large, reusable shopping bag from somewhere else. I tell Laynie, and we start watching her. Almost immediately, it looks like sheís filled the bag with clothes. Two other blond girls, one about younger middle aged like her and one younger, now meet up with her. There are three fitting room stalls along the wall, and they each go into one. After a bit, the other two girls come out. The older one is holding the reusable shopping bag, but for some reason I disregard this. The first girl comes out, and Laynie and I go onto the floor. (It still looks like a retail store, but different than in reality). Iím not sure what weíre doing, since she doesnít have the bag, but we follow her out. I think we then realize that the other girl had the bag. I end up going outside and following them to another store. This store looks like our hallway of kids shoes, but bigger. This girl has met up with an entire family, including younger girls and middle aged men. They all look very similar, even for a family. All are blond or slightly ginger. The two men look sort of aloof and dirty or druggy. It is a little creepy. The younger girl from earlier notices me, asking slightly aggressively ďWhat are you doing here?Ē ďI work here,Ē I tell her defensively. There is attention on me now, and I decide to tell them that I know theyíre only here to shoplift and just need to leave. They actually give it up and head for the door. Though they didnít fight it, I am shocked that an entire family does this so shamelessly. I follow them out and notice a black car with its window down, the reusable bag sitting on the seat. I now start getting aggressive, cursing at the lady while demanding that she give the merchandise back. She only slightly resists, but I do not give, and she ends up taking it out. I think I mentioned that I could just call the cops, which gets her to change her attitude a bit. I think about snapchatting this humorous scene, but donít.

I am upstairs at work. There is a group of three to four white teenage (or younger?) boys by the Levi jeans that have selected a bunch of clothes quickly. I think they may also have a bag, maybe a sports bag from here? that theyíre putting it all into. I think Scott is downstairs and talking to me over the radio. I am over by the boys and I think it makes them leave, leaving everything behind. I start looking through the clothes in the bag, and I only find one empty hanger. Iím not sure what weíre doing exactly, but at least they didnít get anything, besides possibly one shirt.

I am camping at Frenchmans with Melissa and I think one other. We are sitting around the fire pit, and thereís quite a bit of stuff set up around it, like weíre here for a while or just well prepared. Iím not sure if thereís a fire going or not. It seems to be dusk or nearing dark. I think Iím going to start the fire now. I put down some paper materials for starters, but then I canít find any wood. I bring it up to Melissa, and she has a brief look of realization. She says she forgot to bring it. Iím not sure what to do, then Melissa says she saw some in the trailer. That does sound right, so I go to check. The trailer feels more like a big car, but still partially like a trailer. I climb in and onto what seems to be the back seats. It seems more like a bed, a bed that could fit about two. It seems kinda comfy, and I think about sleeping with Melissa in here instead. I find the firewood and it is all on top of two folded down seats, shaped almost like it is serving as the seats instead. I wonder if I should really be taking any if it is serving a purpose here. I think that most likely Opa placed it like this. I end up pulling a few pieces out, most smaller but one longer. The wood is darker in color, thin, and not very heavy.

I am at work, going back on video to look for something, when I inadvertently see two guys arbitrarily grabbing Levis like theyíre going to do a grab and run. I notice that one is wearing a backpack. Now I am out on the floor and right by them. I think just my walking by is enough to get them to drop the merchandise. They go over by menís shoes and I think out an emergency exit door thatís open. Another man is standing by the door, sort of like a look out. He is wearing a white rabbit mask. It looks like a plain and rudimentary mask with just a strap on the backside, yet the effect is somewhat unnerving and intimidating. I donít exactly want to go over there. I call Scott over the radio to see if heís seeing this. From the way he says no, I assume he was not watching all along. I assume heís pulling it up on camera now.

I have stopped into work on what feels like my day off. It doesnít really look like work - it has more of a warehouse feel. I feel like I am on the second level when I see a man stashing a ton of Levis. He sees me looking at him, which seems to make him nervous. He has a pile stashed in a fitting room; I wait until he walks out and then lock and close the door to the stall so he canít get to them and so I can put them in as a recovery later. Now, I think there is a woman that is with him. They are gone a moment later, and it looks like some of the Levis are missing. If they got them, they got a ton, because the stash was a huge stack or two. Iím now in what feels like the menís department, the only difference being that the entire floor is empty. There arenít even shelves. The floor looks like concrete, and the walls are either concrete or drywall. I think there are a few associates here, and they seem to notice the state of the place, at least somewhat. It seems like they donít care much or are accustomed to it.

I am at work. It seems very dark, like all the lights are out or the power is out. There is a known shoplifter (the girl from yesterday who crammed clothes in a purse and went out the salon doors) who I think is coming out of a fitting room and/or heading for a door. I notice that she has a newer looking backpack with brighter colored stripes. I assume there is stolen merchandise in it, so I go up to her and tell her to just get it all out of there. She insists that she doesnít have anything. She holds out a green toothbrush and sheís saying she got either it or the backpack from Walmart. *Right at this point I am awakened by Melissa and her alarm.

I am walking around at work (it looks very different, still like a department store, but not the one I work at) when Ryan calls 432 and says ďI need change.Ē I am not on a phone and think I actually hear him say it since I just so happen to be a few yards from the register he is at. I see three different women in his view and figure one must be who he is calling about. Two look like moms with strollers. The other looks more suspicious, with sunglasses and a large purse. I think they all see me and take off running. There is a small pile of wadded up dresses on the ground that I think the girl with the purse must have dumped. There is also a set of keys, which I pick up and keep. I am now briefly in a room or at a table taking a picture of one of the keys (or some metal piece attached to a key) that has some identifying number on it. I think Laynie is here now and we are watching this girl. She goes somewhere downstairs a bit before going upstairs. I thought she would have been spooked, but it seems like we think she might still steal. Iím now walking around and getting ready to close when I notice there are still a lot of people here.

I am at 10 Torr for a celebration for one of the cousinís graduation. This place looks similar, but not exactly the same. It seems to be a little smaller and a bit more homey. Itís still a square room but has more of a kitchen vibe due to the counter and the dťcor. It also seems to be wrapping up; Aly is behind the counter, putting things away. It seems like nobody is left at this point. I was going to try one more drink, but Iíll be fine without it. Mom is sitting with me at the counter. It looks like itís going to be closed now, but then a 20-something year old guy shows up behind the bar. It seems theyíre now open or regular business. Two girls, maybe in their late 20s or early 30s, are already taking a seat at the bar. The guy looks to them, looking a little disheveled. The girl closer to me starts ordering something with orange/grapefruit juice, but the girl by her completely cuts her off, ordering something with the same juice but a little more specific. The guy doesnít seem to care; he lets her finish and then turns to the first girl to let her finish. The first girl waits a moment and then makes a snide comment to the other. The guy is now looking to us. I notice two small, empty glasses on the counter in front of us, and it worries me for a moment, making me think for some reason that Mom might have a drink. I ask for Ďjust a coffee liqueur and vodkaí, oddly self conscious of my voice. Mom orders something kind of specific that Iíve never heard of; it sounds like some kind of mock tail. The drinks come out quickly, and it looks like theyíre in small white bowls and not glasses. Momís looks like a strawberry ice cream or really frothy strawberry milk topped with whipped cream and a slice of banana. Mine looks like it has cream in it and then it tastes like it does too. When the guy comes back over I assertively but kindly tell him what it was supposed to be, and he fixes it. I now try Momí, and it does seem nonalcoholic. Her face looks a little sad to me. Melissa has been waiting in a car outside, and Iíve been texting her. Sheís being kind of sassy. Iím not sure why sheís just been waiting out there. I look outside and briefly see her and it looks like sheís changed into a pajama shirt.

(fragment) I am outside and climbing/ scrambling around on some granite boulders all together and overlapping one another. I hear Kat? narrating like Jon (or Luke Larson?) is climbing, though itís definitely just me here. She is sort of talking it up and pointing out the danger of the boulders being right behind you. I am in street shoes and sort of pulling on some holds and playing with different moves. The grainy holds are pretty decent and slightly chalked. I donít think itís even completely vertical, and I donít think itís all that hard. I think the boulder behind you is close enough that you could put out a leg or arm and stop yourself before you would fall into it. This small boulder field slowly turns into the top of a backyard. Iím standing on top of the smaller boulders with Kat, looking toward the house. There is a small, neat lawn and a few neat trees nearer the house. The house also gives the impression of being neat.

(fragment) I am at work with Laynie and a small group has done a grab and run out of the door 18 emergency exit. We catch up with them in the stairwell. Itís about 3-4 teens or preteens. One of the girls is reminiscent of the blond 13 year old girl that was taking pictures of herself doing gang signs. She sort of talks back, but ultimately we are in control. We are being hard on them but they seem to not get it. I think we have them out in the parking lot.

(fragment) Iím with Scott and Tyson? downtown when they see something going on through a hotel room. We are going to go in to see whatís going on. These hotel rooms seem to be in an overpass that we are walking under. I donít like not being able to see and not really know whatís going on. I think it has to do with a shooting or someone with a gun.

We have a shoplifter back in the booking room. He is darker skinned and definitely a juvenile. He even seems closer to a preteen than a teenager. I think he was being uncooperative and/or difficult, and I am being pretty aggressive? I think he is lying on the floor or leaning at a severe angle in the chair, and I am yelling at him and hitting him?, but it seems justified.

*I think there were a few more fragments of dreams about bringing shoplifters back. It was slightly uncomfortable to recall hitting someone in a dream; I did not write this until a day later.

I am at work when I notice a shorter, pudgy blond boy holding a shirt and standing right by the mall entrance. He is sort of obscured by the racks of clothes, but i still see him conceal the shirt somewhere on him and then exit. I know Iím not cleared to stop people by myself, and I donít know where Lainey is right now, but I run after him anyway, feeling that it is justified. I go up to him and just tell him that he needs to come back. I let him lead, staying pretty close to him, noticing how young he looks. I ask his name and he tells me. I ask his age, and he tells me something like 13. I think about how old kids are looking for their age these days. At some point a girl has started walking with us, like sheís with him. When we get to the door, I tell them to put their bags and phones up on the desk. I recover the merchandise, hanging it on the wall. There are Nike sweats, two things from Pink, and something from another store. Now, there are three 20-somethings sitting in here, in three chairs facing the desk. They have grabbed the paperwork and are filling it out themselves, nonchalantly. The guy in the middle is even reclining and has his phone set up and playing a video or something. I take it and set it on the desk. Now, it is the boy and girl again. I look over and notice the girl playing a game on her phone. I hit it out of her hand, saying ďGet off your fucking phone, Iím not fucking kidding.Ē Now, it seems a little later, and Iím being invited into a house by a slightly older looking Nathanielís dad. I get the impression that the two earlier were Nathaniel and Beatrice and he wants to talk to me about it. He plays a tape or recording and I hear myself saying what I said earlier and hear the phone hit the ground. He politely tells me that he thinks I was being aggressive. His mom is here now too, and I tell them that Iím very quiet and so I have to try to be more assertive. I tell them we never try to be mean to people there, that we tell everyone it can be easy and we want it to. They seem understanding. I also tell them that like half of the people we get are homeless and that itís saddening.

I am working, though this place does not look like work. It almost seems like something at the Legends, like a department store at the edge of a shopping mall and its large parking lot. Laynie and I are watching cameras when we notice an old lady stuffing jewelry into her purse in a deserted aisle. I think she is with 1-2 others, and they may be doing so also, but we only see the lady do it. We go out into the parking lot after her to stop her. She comes back, and now Iím alone with her in what looks like a large, empty fitting room stall. Thereís a desk in here, on which are all the stolen items that were in her bag. There are about 3 to 4 boxes of different shapes and sizes. I am asking her questions and filling out paperwork, confidently. I ask things like why she did it and if sheís done it before. I feel in charge, but I am also being nice with her. I canít really read her, but she seems to not care.

*The following seem like fragments, but are probably part of this dream since the fitting room and parking lot seem the exact same.

Laynie and I have gone out into the parking lot to stop a few teen girls. As soon as one sees me approach and try to talk to her, her face reddens and she turns hard to avoid me. They try to run from us as we yell that they could come with us or we could call the cops.

I have brought a teen couple back into the fitting room with the desk. I am being funny and friendly but serious with them. They donít seem to care that theyíre in here. I have them turn over the stolen merchandise, and they start stripping off tons of clothes and concealed clothes. Iím almost impressed with how much they have - I think I tell them this. It seems like they do this almost professionally.

I am at work with Lainey. We have stopped a teen girl right outside the mall entrance. I think itís the same girl that she stopped in Sephora and had me be a witness for. Her mom happens to be right over here, so we have her come over. I kind of explain what happened and tell her itíll be easier since sheís here. The mom seems pretty understanding. I am holding a shoe box that is apparently what she stole. I start to go through it, and I find ear buds (which I think couldíve been hers since theyíre a little tangled and not exactly brand new looking) and a smaller pair of shoes shoved inside a larger pair of shoes (theyíre like a converse or something with a high ankle area that allows this to happen). I noticed that the box did feel a little heavy. I talk to just Lainey for a second - she wants to let her go, but I really donít since the shoes are around $100.

I am outside somewhere with whom I am pretty sure is Scott from work. The area looks like stereotypical Nevada scenery - gentle hills, dirt, and sagebrush. I am chewing on what seems to be a few tiny pieces of bone, separating any meat left on them. As I listen to Scott talk, I spit the pieces completely devoid of meat. He is telling me about Nathanielís girlfriend and how she goes somewhere or has access to somewhere (due to wealth, family, etc.). Weíre apparently going to use her connections to go there as well. I picture her, think about telling him I know her, then tell him ďKevin, I mean Nathaniel, is one of my old best friends.Ē

I am with one or two employees at work (it is not really work, but seems more like a multiple level shopping center or hotel). I think Hunter is one of them. Weíre each carrying a stack of jeans and when we walk past a man one of us gets the idea to say something that makes it sound like weíre trying to steal these. The man falls for it and starts following us. We end up down on the ground floor and outside or in an outdoor entryway area, right outside the elevator. I think weíve left the jeans elsewhere, and the man is gone too. Iím looking at the gap between the elevator and the floor that is exposed by the open doors. I shine my phoneís flashlight into it, tentatively, afraid of dropping my phone down it. I contemplate what happens to things that are dropped down there. I canít see the bottom.

I am in what I think is a Kohlís (though Iím not sure it really looks like one). Iím with a familiar? guy and bringing some clothes to the fitting room to try on. They seem to all be on hangers. The fitting room is a stall set atop a little raised platform. The door is sized so that one can see the occupantís feet as well as just above their head. For a moment, I am watching either myself or someone else; the clothes can clearly be seen hanging. I ponder the result of this on theft, thinking it probably lessens it. I donít think I end up getting anything.

I am in what I think is a movie theater. It seems like it is a much older building, or like I am in the past. There are mostly middle aged hippies filling in and into the theater. Iím in a sort of hallway outside the theater; I pull back a curtain over an opening and get a glimpse of the theater. I then go find a seat. Looking around, Iím very surprised I donít smell pot. It does look hazy though. This film that is being shown is very psychedelic, not in an overdone or hackneyed way, but in a very synesthetic way. The clips or scenes are disjointed and cause visceral sensations. It seems the film is being shown to elicit collective response that becomes the spectacle itself. The whole thing is very phantasmagorical

I am at work and entering the fitting room. I am not alone either; at least four other people are also entering at the same time. I notice a fairly dirty looking guy in his 20s and his female companion. He has long and shaggy brown hair (or dreads) and baggy clothes, and she has dark hair and pants and a somewhat skimpy purple tank top. The guy, with a sort of detached fervor, starts grabbing anything in reach on the folding tables (I notice a folded dress shirt) like heís going to take them into the stall and steal them. I think he has not noticed that I work here. I say ďhey manĒ kind of casually, which startles him and causes him to look guilty and remorseful. I think he leaves now, and I start checking the stalls. Most have a floor completely obscured by tried on and tossed clothes. One contains a man passed out or sleeping on the floor and amongst the clothes. I donít even know what to do. Now I am helping ring up customers, and I notice the guy what was going to steal. He is actually buying a pair of black slacks.

I am with Melissa in a bed. I think we are just cuddling and talking. Now out of nowhere it begins to snow. Almost immediately the roads are covered. (It looks like downtown, like the street parallel to the river and behind the movie theater). I offer to give her a ride wherever so she doesnít have to drive in it. I think itís out of the way or will create a problem with where the cars are, but I donít mind going out of my way. Now, I am driving us somewhere. I think Melissa says something about the speed, as if Iím going too slow. Right after, the car violently slides out and then corrects itself after a tense moment.

(I think this one was part of another dream that I canít recall. It has a weird feeling to it). Iíve been watching a movie that is or is very similar to Hereditary. I have an image of Charlieís decapitated head in my mind. It looks more animated and like it has more skin on the face, around the eyelids and lip areas. I think there is some distinct, enigmatic, seminal plot to this movie that I canít stop thinking about.

I am sitting at Melissaís kitchen table in the seat facing the sliding door. At least Carlos and one other family member is here. Theyíre talking about late puberty? (like in their early 20s). I lift my bare leg up so they can see the hair on it and say ďI havenít seen my legs since like fourth grade.Ē It elicits some chuckles. I then feel slightly self conscious about putting my bare foot on their table.
