    1. Big Skeletal Creature (First LD in a long time)

by , 07-03-2017 at 04:20 AM (Nonsense and Conundrums)
I didn't journal on here yesterday because it wasn't interesting enough to report (still wrote it down in my paper journal, though!). Last night, however, was very interesting.

I'm walking down the hall of a large mansion (you know, the stereotypical haunted house kind of place) with a rather large group of people. On one side of me is a woman with fiery red hair swept up in a messy bun, and on the other side is Owl. Something doesn't seem right about this, and I start questioning my reality, trying to remember how I had gotten here.

I need no reality check this time, as I suddenly remember the last thing I had done is gone to bed. This has to be a dream!

The lucidity is really strong. I laugh softly to myself, touching the wall, my clothes, everything, marveling at how real everything feels. I stay calm, repeating "this is a dream" in my mind, trying to stay conscious. I look over to Owl, and half-hoping she's real, I whisper to her, "Do you know you're dreaming?" She doesn't respond, looking straight ahead as she walks. Definitely not Owl.

It's much harder than I expect to stay conscious. I feel really tired, and want to go back to "sleep", but my resolve is fairly strong. Because of this tiredness, however, I feel as if I have no energy to try and go anywhere else. I decide to stay in this dream and see how it plays out, because I'm very curious.

The group ends up in this big room. A voice booms out from above. I no longer remember the exact words, but the voice says we have all been selected to perform a task. Once our task has been explained, all of us are transported to our respective locations. I think I lose lucidity for a while, because I don't remember the task (I do become aware again after this).

I'm on a beautiful terrain of flatland grass, the occasional tree. The sky is bright and blue, but no sign of a sun or any light source. I travel this way for a while, all alone, in wonder at the lovely sights, shouting "clarity" whenever my vision starts to fade (I have problems with going blind in lucid dreams). Eventually I become bored with traveling and summon a video-game style map to go somewhere else. The only location on the map is a fortress, so I tap on the image and go there (This is how I move around, usually. My gamer brain understands a digital interface best).

The fortress is huge, meant for someone much larger than I, but also run down, crumbling. I decide to explore the outside first before going inside. Then, suddenly...

      "Hey!"

I turn at the sound of my name. A man is running toward me with a smile on his face -- it's Denarius!

[ Denarius is the name of a dc I've seen in many dreams.]

I haven't seen Denarius ever in forvever so I'm surprised, but not so happy, to see him. He did leave me when I asked for him, so I did not forget that. It's nice to see a familiar face, all the same.

First thing he says after this is "So you're stuck here too? I got bored with my task but couldn't leave this place, so I decided to search for familiar faces. I'm happy to see you!"

He babbles on and on, but then I say, "You LEFT me."

That shuts him up quickly. His gaze drops to the ground. "We shouldn't talk about that here."

I continue to question him about our last meeting, and how he brushed me off so easily, and how I haven't heard from him in months, but he keeps evading my probing, as if he's afraid. Keeps saying he can't talk about it. I give up on getting any information from him and idly chat.

I enter the fortress. The layout is insane, very hard to navigate, but I manage. At this point, I lose lucidity, so I barely remember it, but there are many people in this fortress, it's no where near abandoned. Some things happen but it's all so blurry. Denarius leaves at some point, distinctly saying we'll see each other soon.

I become frustrated at not being able to complete my task. Somehow, this frustration makes my brain click together again; oh yeah, I'm dreaming! I recall I'm supposed to be performing a task here, but what? What was it? I exit the fortress, annoyed.

I have the sudden realization that I'm probably oversleeping right now. This dream has gone on a long time, something isn't right. I try to wake myself up, but I'm scoffed at from a voice from above. That's when a huge creature crashes out of the fortress: twice my size, humanoid but so animal at the same time, with huge armor and angry orange eyes. It has its eyes trained on me.

Oh, no. I have no idea what to do, how to fight something so monstrous. The creature is chasing me around, and I'm running as fast as I can. It ends up catching me, starting to strangle me, but I can breathe just fine. I once again remember this is a dream, and my options for ending this creature are endless.

I struggle out of its grasp and intuitively focus all of my energy into my hands. My hands start to glow and grow warm. I channel all this energy between my two palms, making a huge ball of heat. I release the energy, the ball catches fire and hurls at the creature.

The fireball makes contact with the creature. Instead of it catching fire...it immediately disintegrates into black ash. I realize my task has been completed, and I wake up.

And just as I thought, I overslept. It was 1pm when I finally awakened.

    2. NLD fragment

      by , 03-16-2015 at 06:04 PM (Snehk's Dreamlands)
I recall only a brief fragment of the dream. It showed a few days of my life. Driving to school, and going back home. I was trying all my best, but I couldn't accomplish some kind of a task. I tried day by day, but whenever I was closer to completion, I lost. One day I came to conclusion that the task is really simple and doable, but it's beyond my possibilities to do this.

    3. Breadcrumbs / Sketchbook

      by , 07-30-2014 at 07:48 PM
Ritual: Went to bed around 12:50am. Woke naturally at 3:32. Seemed a bit soon to WBTB but my motivation was good and I recalled traces of imagery so decided to go for it. Drank guayusa tea and read Brooks & Vogelsong. Before going to bed did hybrid of SSILD/counting/affirmation while sitting in chair. Technique: counted incrementally while breathing slowly and deeply, thinking the number on each in-breath, and on outbreath rotated between senses (thinking "look," "listen," or "feel") and then adding an affirmation, letting it fall randomly between "always lucid" or "always aware." Counted to fifty in this way, though I was impressed how easily it was to lose track of the number (this is good, it means the mind is losing its focus on waking life) even while sitting upright in a chair. Returned to bed at 4:52am and continued counting up to 70 while lying on my back, then ceased the practice and turned on my left side to sleep. I soon realized that I'd overdone the WBTB a bit and was excessively wakeful, but consoled myself that I should be able to return to sleep eventually given how few hours I had gotten so far, and my chances for WILDing should be improved by this touch of insomnia.

I had made sure to fix a very clear task in mind: I had read about the "fairy tale" challenges on DV and they seemed potentially interesting, but I realized I should make a clear plan. If I did successfully WILD I would find myself in my house, so how would I go about pursuing the task? My idea was this: grab a loaf of bread from the kitchen, exit the front door, turn right and walk up the hill, where in a previous WILD I had passed through a tunnel and found myself in a deep, dark forest. I could leave a trail of bread crumbs and see what happened from there.

WILD #1: It took a long time to go back to sleep. Eventually I felt sensations I interpreted as the onset of SP: tingling and distortion of the physical body, then a sense of weight on my chest so localized and specific that I wondered if the cat had actually jumped on me, but the weight quickly increased beyond that of any cat. I was encouraged because it seemed like this transition was happening very cleanly and consciously, and turned my attention to beginning to "move" the non-physical "body." I was careful not to wiggle my fingers or adjust my limbs lest I break SP, so I concentrated on unnatural movements like full-body rotation. I could begin to feel my body swinging in a horizontal rotation but didn't yet have enough traction to "get up" out of bed. Suddenly I felt a vertical "lift" as though my body had floated up several feet, and the next moment I was standing on my feet next to the bed. "And I'm up!" I thought to myself, pleased.

I noticed right away how dark it was, and despite the clarity of the transition, I did not feel well-integrated into the dream body. I deduced that this was probably a consequence of weak REM-state, given how little sleep I had gotten before the WBTB. I thought I'd better do some stabilization, so I touched some surfaces around me and then rubbed my hands together. This felt lifelike enough, so I became too easily complacent and didn't do anything further to integrate... a mistake, as it turned out. But I was pre-occupied with performing my task and didn't want to get distracted to the point where I never left the antechamber, as so often happens, so I rushed to get started.

I moved swiftly toward the kitchen and picked up the bag of bread from the counter as I passed through. It felt quite full, and I recalled that I had bought a new bag just the other day in waking life. Although the environment was still very muddy and vague, I could easily find my way through the house out of habit, so I headed straight for the front door. As I was crossing the threshold, I noticed that the bag of bread suddenly felt very light, as though there were only a few slices left. I hesitated for a moment, wondering if I should return to the kitchen, but didn't want to be distracted from my task, so I figured, "That's alright, I can always manifest more."

I walked out into the night, the outdoor environment no more distinct than the indoors had been, but I knew where I was going. I turned right and began to walk uphill, reaching into the bag to start dropping breadcrumbs. To encourage the right environment to appear, I started muttering under my breath: "Entering the world of Hansel & Gretel. Entering the world of Hansel & Gretel." But I only got off two recitations before I abruptly awoke. I realized my error at once: the dreamspace outside the antechamber is always less stable, and in my impatience to get started on the task, I hadn't integrated properly before exiting.

I lay for a long time in the position I woke in. Often I can seamlessly re-enter a WILD if I half-wake and don't move. But this was no half-waking: my mind was fully awoken and I soon realized that holding my position would be of no use, sleep had well and truly gone. I used the bathroom so it wouldn't pre-occupy me later and returned to bed, lying on my other side now to make a fresh start. By now the sun was rising so I got out my sleep mask from the drawer. I hate wearing it, but I could tell the light would be disruptive today. I considered checking the time but was trying not to stimulate wakefulness any further, so deliberately decided not to. It was evidently around sunrise, anyway, which occurred at 6:01am today according to Google. That was well over an hour after I had finished my WBTB and the dream can only have lasted a few minutes, so it must have taken me a very long time to fall asleep beforehand.

WILD #2: I lay on my right side and tried to keep a positive attitude: of course I can do it again! I re-WILD all the time! Not usually from such drastic awakening, admittedly, but I didn't let myself focus on the negatives. I wondered if I should rise and write a report, but reflected that there was little to report apart from the exact wording of the phrases I had thought or spoken, and these I had already scrawled in my notepad. The rest, what little there was, would be easy to remember. So I let go of those worries and focused attention on my breathing, remembering not to "try" to fall asleep but just let it happen. Eventually, it did.

Whereas the previous transition had been so vivid, this time I was surprised to find myself simply standing at the foot of the bed. I hadn't noticed the separation. But at least I remembered where I had gone wrong in the last attempt, and reminded myself: don't rush it. Get traction. Find something to do in the antechamber to better immerse yourself.

I noticed that this time the bedroom was full of books, stacked in messy piles and filling bags all over the floor. I figured that these would provide a good opportunity to more fully engage my senses in the dreamspace. So I selected a few and carried them with me as I moved out of the room. The kitchen floor was also covered with books, so many piles and stacks that was actually hard to pick a path through them. I was picking up volumes more or less at random until I noticed what was clearly an artist's sketchbook, a spiral-bound 9"x12" Strathmore, on top of one pile. "Oh, I should look at that!" I thought, and grabbed it. Finally I made my way to the living room, where I found a small oriental rug on the floor (about 2'x3', black pattern on a white background) and sat down on it to begin to peruse my books.

I chose the sketchbook first, because I was the most curious what I might find inside this one, and dream pictures tend to be easier to perceive and remember afterwards than dream text. The first picture I saw upon opening it was a portrait of what looked like a tribal chieftain, showing the upper half of his body and filling the whole page. He looked about middle-aged, with angular but weather-beaten features. The most distinctive element of the portrait, dominating most of the visual space, was the enormous headdress he was wearing. It wasn't made of feathers or any obvious RL material but seemed composed of abstract patterns with a Mayan styling to them. I took note of the colors. The headdress was all in shades of red, mostly an earthy brick shade. There were constrasting shades of muted green in the distinctive wide straps criss-crossing his body in various places. It didn't occur to me at the time, but the obvious deduction is that these straps were there to secure the enormous headdress.

After looking carefully at the first drawing, I turned the page. The next image I saw was more cartoon-like. The page was divided into four rectangular panels, each one the width of the page, and stacked vertically. There was a caption, though I don't remember if it was above or below the panels: "Doyle Oss Toss." How clever, I thought... until I realized that it didn't rhyme as well as I had thought at first, because I was aware from the start that "Oss" meant "Owl" but soon realized that the RL word had been distorted unrecognizably to fit the rhyme. My dream texts often demonstrate this tendency to favor rhyme and alliteration over comprehensible meaning.

The four panels showed the Doyle Owl being punted by a large shaggy grey wolf. The Owl was on the left, the wolf on the right, and the setting suggested the outdoors but was very plain, with little in the background to distract the eye. The sky behind them was dark. The first panel showed the Owl already in mid-air, with the wolf's head lowered, evidently having just head-butted it. The second panel showed the Owl about halfway down, in the act of falling, the wolf's head still lowered. The third panel showed the Owl having come to rest again on the ground, the wolf's position unchanged. The last panel showed the Owl lying on the ground where it had fallen, and now the wolf had lowered its haunches into a crouch and lifted its head toward the sky, howling in what I interpreted as triumph.

I think I might have spied one more drawing but I don't remember it, because around this time I woke up. In a false awakening. Which I didn't recognize. Responsibly, I immediately began to record the dream on my notepad, first sketching out the four-panel cartoon I have just described. After completing that, I started blocking out the tribal chieftain, and made some notes about the colors. I think I wrote about the green straps first, and when I started trying to describe the particular shades of red in the headdress, the dream began to evolve, and I thought I remembered dreaming that I was a sultan who had a vizier who wore a turban constructed of red cloth in various textures and shades, including a dark red kerchief. It's possible that this image relates to a drawing from the original sketchbook that I've forgotten, because as I was jotting down notes about color of his headgear a new visual appeared, where I could see the vizier from above and behind, with a clear vantage on the dark red kerchief, and I was surprised because I knew that I had not previously seen him from that perspective.

Before the FA could evolve any more, I woke up for real and recognized that I had just been writing my dream report in another dream, and I'd better get up and do it properly. In this case I didn't mind the delay because writing it down in the FA had helped cement the details in memory (this is not always the case). So I started jotting down my notes on the notepad next to my bed... only to realize soon after I'd started that even though I was more or less awake now, I still wasn't actually doing it, I was still just experiencing a kind of half-dreamed enactment of writing, and I should stop tricking myself and physically get out of bed so I could be sure I was doing it properly. So I got up and hastily sketched out the four-panel again—noticing with amusement how much crappier it looked in RL than in the more elegantly sketched version from my initial FA. I noted the time of rising as 6:56am, and recorded the rest of the dream on my laptop.

    4. Flying Carpets, Pudding Pools and, Finally, the TotY!

      by , 02-14-2014 at 03:10 AM (Burke's Nightly Escapades)
Well, I haven't been here in a while! I pretty much stopped with my whole online DJ, aside from the tasks, but maybe I'll have to change that But for this entry, it's still a TotY one, specifically Aladdin! Off to it, then

The dream started off in a large, traditional Japanese house, with multiple rooms and corridors, but only one floor. I was in a big dining area with a good size table and about a dozen elderly women kneeling around it drinking something out of mugs, likely tea. I stood in the doorway looking at them and could see outside behind them -- there was a large gap in the wall where sliding doors should've been. It was sunny and summertime, everyone was in light clothing and I think I was dressed in jeans and a t-shirt -- the women were dressed in kimonos, but they were thinner and more breathable than more traditional ones.

I walked past them and into another room where there were some end tables and a couple lamps, but nothing out of the ordinary. I continued to walk around the building, from room to room, just looking around, not really having anything in mind. I came full circle back to the room I was just in, but the women had gone out back and were suddenly having a barbeque. One was cooking hot dogs on a grill, a group were talking, and others were playing Frisbee. It was summer after all. I poked my head outside to see what exactly was going on, but just sort of stared for a little bit, zoning out at these elderly women dressed in kimonos and having a cookout.

I came out of it and turned away, walking back the other way through the house. I came to a room that has a small swimming pool in it with a small ladder in the corner. There was tile around it amidst the hardwood flooring that normally covered the floor, and luckily I noticed something was amiss.
I thought to myself, "Am I dreaming?" and plugged my nose to do a RC. I breathed in, and after a second, I could definitely breathe! It was a relief; I had been having a dry spell for a while which was broken recently with a really short, low vividness lucid which wasn't very satisfying. Being able to do a complete reality check with actual substance behind it was liberating. I looked around the room I was in, getting a full sense of what it felt like, and rubbed my hands for some stabilization. The walls were all vertical wood paneling but the ceiling didn't really look like anything; the room just sort of stopped and there was a roof, but no distinct ceiling.

Either way, I was lucid! So I didn't really care too much. I looked around the room, thinking of all the things to do, when I noticed a lamp in the next room over sitting on one of the end tables. I had remembered the TotY, but couldn't really remember what the specific tasks were. Luckily, the lamp reminded me of the Aladdin one: wish for a magic carpet, then whatever for the other two. I walked over to it, picked it up, and rubbed it. It wasn't what you'd expect a magic lamp to look like, but it was smooth and shiny, so I figured it'd work. Of all things to pop out, a DC from a couple previous dreams I had (my Hindenburg (TotY from 2012) DJ entry described him well) appeared right behind me. "Hey, what's up!? he said, startling me. I turned around and couldn't recognize him at first. Seeing my confused expression he told me, "Don't you remember? I kicked your ass a while back! For the task?"

Then it hit me, "Ooohhhhhh!... it's you. You didn't kick my ass, you kicked me in the head!" I retorted sarcastically. He had, in fact, kicked me in my head to wake me up. "It's just a saying, geez. You don't have to get so worked up about it," he retorted. "Anyway, you need a carpet, right?" That's true, I did have to take a magic carpet for a spin. "Uh yeah, you got one?" I asked. He nodded his head behind him and, sure enough, there it was. It wasn't magnificent looking at all like it was in the movie. It looked like a standard rug you would put a coffee table on over hardwood. But hey, if it's "magic" then I don't really care what it looked like.

"Thanks," I said halfheartedly. I walked past him and hopped on the carpet. I floated up above the floor a couple inches, and I turned around to say goodbye to him, but he had disappeared. Figures, he never did stick around for a while. I look back at the room with the pool in it, lean forward, and start flying quickly towards the wall on the other side. I put my arms up in front of me and break through the wall, nearly losing my balance and being blinded by the sun. I hadn't done too much dream control in a while, so I was a bit rusty. I basically rode the carpet like a snowboard, since that's something I was used to in real life.

I leaned right to turn around and take a look back behind the house to see the women still there, having their cookout. There were some guys there now, and the women were younger, much closer to the age you'd expect to have a random cookout and play Frisbee with. I got a good look at the house and the surrounding area and it was just as big as I had thought it would be. It was completely secluded with forest all around it and a small path leading out to a road a couple hundred yards out. I looked around me -- I was about 100 feet up at this point -- and could see a fairly large mountain in the distance. I circled a house for a bit a decided that this was probably good enough for the task and headed back to wish for two other things. After all, I could fly whenever.

I dropped straight down through the roof approximately where I thought the room with the lamp in it was. Something about the roof must've been off, because when I went through it I got thrown off the carpet and hit the ground hard. I could feel the dream about to be fading. "No! Not now, dammit!" I thought loudly, and as I tried to spin and save the dream, I unfortunately
woke up. However! I laid still and kept my eyes closed and tried to jump right back into the dream. I'm continuing this! I won't be defeated by some roof!

And I was back in the room with the lamp, completely lucid! I did another RC just to be sure, and sure enough I was good . "Welcome back," I heard a voice say. It was him again. "Have a nice trip?" Wow, I didn't know he made bad puns too. "Oh yeah, lovely," I told back. "Can I just have two more wishes?" I wasn't sure if I could still complete the task (Ophelia tells me now that yes, a DEILD is fine) but I wanted to be safe. "Sure! But what're ya gonna wish fer?" He said colloquially. "Give me some ideas!"

"Why not another task? Or... oo! I know! A Hindenburg blimp!" Wow, he just loves making fun of me, doesn't he . "Well then, Mr. Sarcasm, how about that pool over there becomes filled with chocolate pudding?" I pointed my finger at the pool. Why pudding? I don't know, I couldn't think of anything. Why chocolate? Because chocolate pudding is best pudding. Period. "Uh, sure, whatever," he spoke lazily. I watched intently as a small portion of the pool in the middle began to turn thick and chocolatey. It slowly expanded across the water and down to the bottom, just like supercooled water freezing.

'Damn, that's a lot of pudding' I thought, and I walked over towards it. I reached into my back pocket and pulled out a spoon (sometimes things are just where they need to be in dreams) and bent over. I scooped some up and right as I'm about to taste it I get kicked in by the aforementioned asshole. I fell in face first into the weird, chocolatey concoction, which was not at all like water, but I managed to right myself and breathe. He was standing there laughing, "Just be glad I didn't wake you up again!" He spouted rudely. I just spit some pudding from my mouth angrily
I just now realize my lucids are often like little sitcoms/cartoons xD) "Well? What's number three going to be!?" He asked triumphantly. I thought about just wishing to be out of this mess and cleaned up, but that wouldn't be entertaining to do, let alone read .

"How about you let me kick you in the head!" I shouted. I figured I could kill two birds with one stone, part of the TotY and a little revenge . "Well..." he pondered, "I suppose I am playing the role of the genie, so I guess I kinda have to." He rubbed his chin while he spoke. "Alright then!" I yelled, jumping out of the pudding pool. No clue how I jumped, but I also didn't have any pudding on me anymore. Yay dreams! He turned his back to me, "Have fun!" He shouted. Right as he finished I sung my right leg around and roundhoused him right in the head, just like he had done to me.
I blinked and was laying in my bed, awake. GOD. DAMMIT. That asshole got me again. By the end of this task I better beat him. Perhaps it'll be some good motivation!
    5. 02/10/13 Human Vampire

by , 02-11-2013 at 04:41 AM (New Dream Adventures of Raven Knight)
      02/10/13

      Human Vampire
I am flying over the Nile river in Egypt, looking down at the green foliage and sandy beaches. I make note of the fact this is the first time for quite a while that I have been able to enter a dream through this method. I fly off over the desert towards the pyramids. I realize there are people following me on the ground. I identify them as Templars. I don't really want to deal with Templars right now. I remember a task of the month for DV, however, is simply to give a flower to the next DC I see. I fly back to the banks of the Nile and look for a flower. I find a pretty one and I pick it before flying back to where I spotted the Templars.

I scan them from above and select one that looks kind of hot. They are approaching me, but I ignore most of them and land directly in front of the one Templar I have chosen. All of the Templars surround me, there are about ten of them, but I am focused on the one. I walk over to him and tell him that this is all a bit awkward… but I think he's hot. I hand him the flower with a smile. He just looks confused. Another Templar grabs the flower away, throws it on the ground, and stomps on it a few times. He says it was probably poisoned. I tell him he's just jealous because he didn't get one. I figure I have completed the task, so I focus on opening a portal to somewhere I need to be. A portal opens, and I go through it before the Templars can interfere. I close it immediately behind me. I find I am now on a dark street. There are several people there. They are in a fight. One of them looks like Alex O'Laughlin. He's so hot.

There are two other guys there fighting him, and they seem to be kicking his ass. I think that is strange since he looks like he did when he was a vampire in Moonlight, he should be kicking ass. Mick's ex-wife, Coraline, is also there. I wonder if this is the brief period where Mick was human but got in a fight with a couple of vampires. Coraline says she will give them what they want if they just leave Mick alone. Mick has just gotten thrown up against a dumpster, so I get between him and the vampire thugs and tell Coraline not to give them anything, I have a different deal for them… leave Mick alone and I leave them in one piece. One of them, a vampire that has one solid black eye, sniffs the air and tells me to stay out of what I don't understand. I tell them not to underestimate what they don't understand. The vampire says he's a little hungry anyway and grabs me like he thinks it will be easy. I twist his arm around and kick him away from me, which clearly takes him by surprise. I tell them it is their last chance. The vampire with one eye says to kill the fucking bitch. They both come at me. I form Witchblade into a sword and remove both of their heads, both heads have a permanent look of shock on them. Coraline asks how I did that, how could any human do that. I go over to Mick and focus some healing energy into him. I remember he will be a vampire again before too long, but for now he needs healing. I am gazing into Mick St. John's eyes when I wake up.

    6. Labyrinth Task

      by , 12-27-2012 at 05:02 AM
      12/24/2012
      2:31am

A small group of people and I are in a stadium / industrial like labyrinth. It had an extremely high sealing and hight walls. There were no seats but it was still gigantic and oval. From our particular location, you couldn't see much except the ceiling and tall parallel walls that bordered the wide curving path that we were on. The floor was dirt, hard and dusty. There were also some metal ladders that led up to a catwalk above.

Down at the other end of the pathway and off to the side was an exit that we were trying to get to. We had to get there quickly or we would be transported back to do it again. We tried several times before one of us realized that we had to carry a large role of silver duct-tape to the exit. Caring the tape was my task.

We ran down the path again but when I was about 3 quarters of the way the tape was snatched from my hand by some sort of vine that came from behind. We repeated, and again I was foiled. Then I had a bright idea that I was sure would work. Again we ran, but before the tape could be snatched I wrapped the end around a ladder a few times.

Then the creature that had been snatching the tape came again. This time it was not vine like and came upside down from the cieling hanging on part of its coat-tail turned spiderwebish. It was a sly spirit. His cloths were white and floating about, and he had a strange non-trustworthy grin. The guardian quickly struck me in the chest sending me back several feet while he ripped the tape away from the ladder.

I objected. The guardian looked at me and started to speak. I think he was explaining the task and that I must make a deal in order to pass. He grabbed something from his inside coat pocket and with his long arm held it out. As he did I saw it transform from ? into a small piece of paper. It was about 5"x8" and held so that the long end was perpendicular to the ground. It also had a faint water mark that lived up to its name by rippling on the page. The page also moved like it was blowing in the wind. There was no text on the paper. I understood that the guardian wanted me to sign this contract and again I objected because I felt like I had already done all that should be required to finish this task. "You mean like a contract?!...for something I've all ready done"

      I woke up soon after.
    7. LD: Riding in a Horse Pulled Sleigh

      by , 12-08-2012 at 10:04 PM
Lucid Dream from end of November:

I was with a group of people watching some musicians. I recognized them as my high school jazz band. I looked closer (for some reason I was behind the group who were on some bleachers), and I could see Robert S playing his sax. Next to him was Korin, also playing a sax. I felt nostalgic watching and hearing them play. Then I thought , "Hey--why am I not there playing too? If Robert is playing, shouldn't I be playing too? And wait a second--why is Korin there? She didn't go to my high school...I didn't meet her until years later. Ohhh....I must be dreaming!"

And so I decided to take off flying. I thought about what task I might try to do. I knew I was nearing the end of the month and that I had gotten my "wings" for November's tasks. So I tried to think of a new task to do. I remembered that in the past one of the December tasks had been to fly in Santa's sleigh with him. I had never gotten that one done. I decided that that might be a fun one to try now.

I looked around me. I was in a city. How would I find Santa?

As I was trying to decide on a plan of attack a horse-pulled sleigh came around the corner. I was really happy to see it. I jumped on board. I suddeny didn't care if Santa was not here or that the sleigh wasn't flying. I climbed up to the very front of the sleigh and stood up at the highest point. I had to work hard to keep my balance as the horse raced down the street. It was very exhilerating, and I felt satisfied with this choice of task.

    8. Easy Task - Posses

      by , 05-31-2012 at 09:12 AM
I know it's a bit late, but I wanted to share this dream anyways, because I have finally completet a task. My lucid dream was really long, so I want to skip to the part, where I did the basic task.

I have been lucid in a while, at the time, and then i remembered the basic task. I talked with my friends, and I got the idea to posses one of them. First I tried to walk into the person, but without any luck. Suddenly I remembered something i saw from a cartoon once, where they jumped head to head into the victim. I tried, and this time with succes. My friends stared at me, and I asked them if I really were succesfull... My body didn't look different, but I felt it worked, and they said it worked well.

I hope it wasn't really too late, because I really wanted to share this with you. Happy lucid dreaming!

    9. 9/30/11 Task of the Month Completed - Poseidon and Trick or Treating!

by , 10-01-2011 at 03:32 AM (Mancon's Wild and Crazy Adventures in the Dream World)
I just took a hour and a half nap, and became lucid!

I was walking in a large, cold grocery store in the middle of the fruit section. I was holding an orange that was the size of a watermelon. I was debating whether or not it was good enough to buy.

A girl came up to me and tapped me on the shoulder. "That orange right there is begging for you to buy it. Why don't you put that orange down, and buy that one?" I looked at the orange she was talking about, and it started moving around.

The thought that this might be a dream randomly crossed my thoughts. How did I get here? I asked myself. I remembered falling asleep for a nap, and did a reality check to confirm I was dreaming. I was!

I cleared my mind, and stabilized my dream. My first thought was to do the Task of the Month!

I decided I wanted to do the advanced task first, and turn into Poseidon. I wanted to be underwater to do that, of course!

I planned to walk through a wall, and on the other side would be the ocean! I saw a blank wall across from me, and back up. I ran at full speed at it, and BAM! I was in the ocean. I wanted to transform into Poseidon, and I figured the best way to do that was to find him and melt into his body.

I turned around and expected him to be there. He was there towering over me looking ANGRY. "YOU DO NOT TAKE MY PLACE AS A GOD!" He yelled.

I ran towards him, jumped and melted into his body. I could feel myself in his body now, controlling him. I was him. Well that was easy... I thought to myself.

I decided to test out my divine water bending skills. I held out my hands and held them together in front of me. I then separated them, and imagined ALL the water being separating with my hands. The ocean literally split right in half, and there was a long gap in the middle.

The floor of the gap was made of wet sand. I flew upwards, and let the water fall back down into the giant gap. I concentrated on a big section of water and made it float up and shoot into space. The vividness of it was amazing. I could feel the cold water on my feet.

I played around with the water a little more, and decided to go trick or treating. I looked down at my body and I was a GIANT. I looked about 15 feet tall, so I decided to shrink down to 4 feet, and look like a kid.

I flew across the water, while it splashed me in the face. After a minute or so, I saw what I was looking for: an island. This island had Halloween decorations EVERYWHERE and was filled with pumpkins. I landed on it, and it was very crowded. There were kids everywhere

I blended in with all the kids, and went to the nearest house I could find. The house was dark green, two story's, and had a rather large door. I went up to it and knocked. It opened immediately, and an old lady stared down at me. She smiled.

"Oh look at how cute you look! You are dressed up as Poseidon? I love that beard! It looks SO real!" she said to me.

I nodded and held out my hands to see what she would give me.

"Don't you have a bag to put you candy in?" she asked me.

I looked down and realized I didn't have a bag! I shaped one out of water, and froze it. I looked back up and she stared at me, horrified.

"Can I PLEASE have my candy now?" I said. She put a Jolly Rancher into my ice bag, her hand was shaking. Suddenly, fire came shooting out of her hand and my bag melted. She grinned at me, looking evil. I look around and all the kids were gone!

I quickly made a big wave and smashed it into her house. It collapsed. She grabbed my shoulder, and then
I woke up. I wanted the dream to continue! I tried to fall back asleep, but couldn't. Maybe I can continue this tonight! Thanks for reading
    10. 7/17/11 Task of the Year The Wizard of Oz LUCID

by , 07-24-2011 at 01:19 AM (Mancon's Wild and Crazy Adventures in the Dream World)
Hi everyone, I won't be adding any of my non lucids from the trip, just the lucid ones.

I was walking in an aquarium looking at all the different fish. I saw a shark swimming towards the glass I was looking in and it started slamming the glass. It started to crack and I ran down a hallway in the aquarium away from the cracking glass.

I saw someone pinching their nose in the hallway and I thought that was really weird. I remembered reading a thread about seeing people doing RCs in real life. I stopped running and did a nose pinch RC myself, believing I could breath through my nose. I could breath!

I was dreaming! I stabilized the dream. I tried to think of what I wanted to do. I wanted to go to the shared dreaming experiment but I just couldn't think of the name of the pyramid. Whenever I tried to go there it shot me back into the aquarium.

I decided to complete one of the tasks in the Task of the Year (Which I memorized) I wanted to steal Dorthy's red slippers. I broke the aqurium glass and swam up expecting to appear on the yellow brick road. I got out of the water and climbed onto the road.

I saw Dorthy and tin man in the distance skipping down the road and I ran towards them. I took over tin man's brain and made him shove the slippers off Dorthy. I made him hand them to me. I tapped them 3 times and said "There's no place like home"

Suddenly colors started spinning around me and I was swimming in a lake of.....pencils? I grabbed a pencil and examined it closer. The words on the pencil were gibberish but they were in the design of a wave.

It started to rain and the yellow color of the pencils started to wash off. The rain felt very cold and wet and woke me up.

When I woke up I swear to god I could still feel the rain and I thought I was in a false awakening. I did an RC but then the rain feeling went away.

    11. Task Of the Month July 2011-Completed! 7/8/11

by , 07-08-2011 at 08:10 AM (Mancon's Wild and Crazy Adventures in the Dream World)
I've been taking a lot of breaks from Dreamviews lately and I decided to finally start my journal on here and get back into it! Since I have left I have suddenly had A LOT of luck in lucid dreaming and love it! I read the TOTM Earlier today and I decided to nap and give it a try!
Anyway here is my TOTM DJ:

It was nightime and the stars were illuminating the sky. Millions of little magical sparkles. I could hear cars in the distance. I look down and found I was standing on top of a skyscraper in a HUGE city. I was memorized by the beauty of the city. I always had loved cities. I looked down at a taxi driving across the busy road. Every time the Taxi hit a tiny bump the taxi grew in size. Suddenly I asked myself How I got to this roof and I realized I was dreaming! Everything sort of flickered. The lights all went off for a second and everything came back clearer then it was before. I was lucid! I was going to float down from the rooftop into the street but then I remembered the TOTM that I had just read earlier today! I remembered the play an instrument one but I couldnt remember the advanced task. I decided to stay on the city rooftop and play it while looking down at the beautiful city. I assumed a box would be on the roof with an instrument in it and when I looked around I saw one! I went over to examine it and wanted the instrument to be a flute. I opened the box and was surprised to find a trombone! I took it out and held it in my hand. It seemed really big. I put my mouth to the mouthpiece and thought about synesthesia which is the mixing of senses. I have a form of it where when I see objects move I hear a small sound, but there are many different forms of it. There's one form where when you hear sound you can see color. I decided I would try that in my dream. I blew the first note and a beautiful sound that I cant explain escaped. The city froze and a ripple of purple appeared in front of me. All of a sudden I was floating and moving slowly. I kept playing random beautiful notes and more and more colors rippled around me. I was close enough to the ground now I could see people staring up at me with a shocked expression on their faces. They stared at me in amazement. I smiled and waved at them. For a moment I even forgot I was dreaming. I was just focused on all the colors. I decided to land on the street and give the trombone to someone random. They smiled at me like they needed that trombone to survive. I sat down on a city bench and tried to remember what the advanced task was...I remembered it has something to do with a movie and....OH MY GOSH! Where the Wild things are! I was so excited I remembered the dream started fading away. But I managed to grasp onto it. Everything was little blurrier but I didn't mind as long I was still in the dream. How long had I been napping? Surely 20 minutes had passed maybe longer. The dream would end soon!

I hurried through the first door I saw and I came out in a forest. It was a lively forest with animals everywhere. I turned around and saw an owl staring down at me. I smiled at it. I had never seen the movie or even remembered the book so I had no idea what the story was about except a kid with a crown with buffalo-like friends. Suddenly I heard stomping in the forest and all the animals scattered. A HUGE wild thing came out of the bushes. It was bigger then I thought it would be! I looked up at it and touched it's finger. "I am in control of your species now." I said. It nodded and stared at me with wide green eyes. I told it to go get its friends when all of a sudden I woke up.

I was amazed that I actually completed the tasks the day that I read about them! The dream felt really unreal and I would love to go back to that city again. Thanks Ninja for such a great TOTM! I am off to a GREAT start in coming back to DreamViews.

    12. I tasted dream food and talked to a number 1

      by , 04-24-2011 at 01:30 AM
I had a very fast moving lucid dream that involved a lot of sex and fighting with DC's. I begin to get bored with these activities and wanted to focus on doing something important so I turned my attention to feeling different textures on things to see how real they were. I also started picking up things and tasted them, then I saw a refrigerator and very exitedly opened it and saw purple punch. I drank it strate from the container and swished it around in my mouth It was perfect replica of grape kool-aid at home in the waking world. I could taste the sugar and the tartness smoothly mixed together. I made a note in my mind to remember this for my monthly quest. Second thing I began to do was read things, I was frustrated with the text changing on them. I asked a DC why the text changes and they wouldn't give me an answer. But the DC did give a hint as to reading the text- the DC said you CAN read the text and have it make sense but you must do it very quickly before it changes. I experemented with that for a while and the DC was right. Still I wanted to understand why text shifts int hat world so I began asking DC's why and they didn't know or didn't ant to tell me. One finally said I cannot tell you "they" are watching. Excited I said who are "they" (because I ran into this answer once before when asking about God) and very adimitly I requested to meet one of these "Theys" I said I want to meet one of them, I am not afraid , show me one. I turned around and almost feel over someone and he laughed at me, I asked who he was and he said he was a number one. I asked why the letters change in this world. He said he couldn't tell me. He was black and was wearing a purple tunic that had a waffle impression in it but it was made of silk or something soft and shiny. He had an all knowing and humorous air about him, he was kind and nice and patient but would not tell me. I just sat near him and took in the different senses of the fabric he was wearing and the colors and the way he smelled, like clean linen. I turned around to ask someoene else about the shifting text and when I turned around he was gone. I was very upset and wanted him to come back. I headed off and decided to fly and watched the black outline of a plane fly above me for a while then landed on a city street. I decided I wanted to see what it was like to use a flat screen tv as a portal. I walked up to a display and began to place my hands through the tv, then someone grabbed my arm and I turned around - it was me! It was an excact replica of myself telling me not to use the portal. My replica convinced me to try to have sex with some DC's (I always seem to get side tracked from important work in this way) ...I began to hear my family talking in the waking world and my dream faded out.
    13. 1/4 Wed: A Vivid Lucid and American Psycho

by , 12-31-2010 at 10:40 AM (One Must Imagine Sisyphus Happy)
      American Psycho Playground
0524: I am in what seems to be a school playground in the middle of nowhere. Sandboxes, grassy areas, pull-up bars, chain-link fences, and so on. Christian Bale from American Psycho is here, chasing me and other people. Somehow he gets stabbed and falls to the ground. He calls an ambulance. The rest of us run and hide behind cover. He can't move but he's still throwing sharp things like knives and and pencils. One almost hits me. He is covered in blood. I'm not very afraid though. Just cautious to dodge the projectiles.

short WBTB, just long enough to drink a glass of water with a B-complex supplement

      fragment
In bed, notice the nearby electrical outlet. It's making a noise like running water. I remove the plug from the top outlet and move it to the bottom, thinking that will somehow help.

      fragment
My mother is in the next room. I overhear her talking to herself. She says that I was talking in my sleep.

      Vivid Lucid With Some Tasks
      Method DILD (prospective memory), DEILD
      Lucidity B
      Vividness A
      Control B
1134: Begin recall in my bathroom. The light is off and the door is open. Dim morning light coming through my bedroom window. I remember my own advice to look at my hands and count my fingers. At first they appear normal but I stare at them for a moment. A finger on my left hand starts to look distorted and wavy. Bingo, I must be dreaming. I also notice the orientation of the bathroom is backwards compared to the real one.

I walk out the bathroom, through my bedroom, and on into the living room. There I see my father laying on the ground between the couch and coffee table. He's wrapped in a robe, like he's sick. I ask him a question, but move on. I peek in my roommate's room, but he's not there. I haven't stopped to think of a plan, so I'm just wandering aimlessly.

I exit the front door and find myself in an unfamiliar stairway. I go down one flight and pass by two young women. I think I said to them: "Oh, you're pretty, and so are you." They are carrying piles of clothes. I reason that they are moving in to the building. I stop on the landing of the floor below. It's covered with boxes and more clothes everywhere. I say aloud: "Wow, this place is really messy." Then I think: Wait, this is my place. It is my own dream in my own mind. Maybe the mess is symbolic. I pick up some of the clothes to get a closer look. They are actually neatly folded. I say aloud: "I guess I like my place like this." I'm not sure what I meant by that.

Now I exit the building and find myself in yet another unfamiliar setting. The building I was in is at the top of a rather steep hill. I am looking down a narrow street that goes down the hill with buildings, trees, and alleys on either side. It's only wide enough for foot traffic, no cars. I'd guess it looks a bit like San Francisco more than Los Angeles. Anyway, it's bright day and many people are on the street, going in and out of shops and sitting at cafe patio tables.

About half way down the hill, there is an awning that catches my attention. I think to fly and land on it. I start to fly but sputter and lose height. I land under the awning. I sit down at a cafe patio table. Also at the table is a young man with dark brown "bedhead" hair and a scraggly beard. In a hip way, not an ugly way. He's holding an Amazon Kindle. He's talking to a nearby waitress. Neither of them see to notice my presence.

      Dream fades. I DEILD back.

I'm back at the same cafe patio. The man with the Kindle stands up and walks away, never having noticed me. I stand up and now have more lucidity and control. I walk to the middle of the street and look around, thinking of what to do. I'm a bit distracted as I notice a older woman standing at a podium nearby. Maybe the hostess of a restaurant. Or maybe she's selling something. I snap back into focus and remember a few tasks. Meditate. Hmm. Risky. I decide I'm not ready for that. Laugh. I can do that. I enjoy a big loud "HA HA HA!" in the middle of this busy street. Everyone stops and turns to look at me. The noisy chatter turns dead quiet. Am I embarrassed? No, surprisingly.

Now I have everyone's attention. What next? Cry and pick a fight. Not sure why I thought of these two things together. I look around the crowd and pick out the biggest, meanest guy. He's a tall, wide, Samoan-looking guy. I look up at him and taunt him with a childish "Boo hoo!" crying gesture. Then I punch him in the face with a right hook. He punches back but I block with my left arm and counter with another right. He tries a few more times but I block and counter-punch again and again. He swings once more, loses his balance and falls. I place one leg on him, like I'm posing on top of a mountain.

I start to think what to do next, but the dream fades.
    14. 2/6 Tue: Focusing on Tasks

by , 11-03-2010 at 11:34 PM (One Must Imagine Sisyphus Happy)
So I'm trying to get back focused on my tasks. My lucid rate has been ok lately but they have all been kinda aimless and accidental. I want to get into my fun and rewarding tasks. Didn't actually succeed in any this night, but it was a good effort so I feel good about it.

      First Cycle Randomness
0755: B. First cycle. Bunch of randomness here. Not sure of the order. I'm in an airport, picking up lots of loose change. I think there was just a party of something and there's a bunch of change left. There are also pushpins with people's names written on them. I think the one I read said Bill. I am careful to keep the coins and pins separate. Then my father is here and he's haggling with a man to buy a coin sorting machine. I really want him to buy it to make my job easier. The fact that he's haggling over the price makes me think he is cheap. Then I'm talking to my father about the pushpins and the names on them. They were part of some party event where each person is given a pin and you're suppose to find the person whose name is on it. Or something like that. My father and I are talking about the psychology of it. Something about how people's anticipation always leads to disappointment and therefore people's happiness is always going down. Weird. Then I'm at another party or maybe back to the party that started it all. A group of people are sitting on couches around one guy. He looks like a frat boy with a backwards hat and t-shirt. They are talking about the pushpin game. He's bragging about how good he is at these party games. Last time, the game was to annoy people and he won four times in a row. He also has his own internet video feed on him all the time called "HD Hale." Then I'm watching a TV commercial for MetLife with a statue at the top of a building. The voice-over is talking about how they have solid investments on Mars. The statue is of Abraham, Jesus, and 4 other monks holding torches. But then the commercial turns into a comedy skit. Jesus is now Robert Downey Jr. and he's talking to the Abraham statue, who is played by someone named Carmack. He's saying, "Hey Carmack, why do you always get to be the father of God?"

      Street Fighter Documentary
0927: C. Hugh is watching a documentary about Street Fighter. The original stages were in an underground hideout of a gang called the Panthers. But they abandoned it because it was radioactive. Then it talks about the possibility of a sequel and what will happen to the characters after many years. I see an older Ryu with his face starting to wrinkle and his hair starting to go gray. It says Blanka won't be around because he can't have children.

      Counter-Strike, Lucid
      Method DILD (spontaneous)
      Lucidity B
      Vividness B
      Control C
0949: Very quick time from the previous dream. I'm in a game of Counter-Strike. I must be T because all my enemies look like CTs. A guy is camping upstairs in a building with the Para machine gun. I sneak in through a window and kill him. I take his machine gun and start camping the same building. I'm at the top of a stairway, overlooking the front room of the building which has a front door and several broken windows. Many CTs try to attack me from this front door and windows. One has a shield. But I mow them all down with my machine gun.

As I'm doing this, I sense that I'm narrating the action in my head. It's as if I'm trying to help myself recall this later for my dream journal. Now one more enemy comes to the front door with a flashbang in his hand. He throw it up the stairway and it goes off near me.
This sudden flash combined with the self-narration makes me lucid. I stop fighting. I walk down the stairs and outside. I still see the CT enemies around but they are just standing still doing nothing.

I look at the scenery. Vividness is pretty good. It's bright day. It seems like a small town in France or Italy with cobblestone streets and stone buildings. I'm in a large city square or courtyard, with impressive buildings on three sides and a street lead up a hill to the north. I've been walking up the street on the slight incline of the hill. I start to remember my plan. I rub my hands and look at them to stabilize. Feels pretty good. Next task: summon music. For some reason, I think I should be indoors for this. I turn around and see one of the buildings. It's an old stone church with stained glass windows. Think Notre Dame. It's beautiful and vivid. I start walking toward it, but the dream fades.

      More Gunfighting
1108: B. It starts a bit like the end of the last dream. I'm in a quaint European town, but now it's near the ocean. I'm in a large courtyard again. In one direction there looks to be a shipyard. In the middle of the shipyard is a futuristic airplane that looks like a giant green and purple hornet. Hugh is here and I guess it's his plane. He's sort of like Batman and the hornet plane is like the Bat-Mobile. Hugh says he just got all the armor upgrades for it. He gets in and it flies way.

Skip. The scene is now similar to the beginning of the previous dream. I'm in an old building that feels like a church. I'm on the second floor balcony that overlooks the large room below. I'm alone with a machine gun and I'm fighting off enemies below. This time, I think they look like marines from Starcraft. After a wave, I am reinforced by my friend H who leads a small group of his own marines. He says we need to move out. Before leaving, I pull out my dream journal, lay on the ground (still in the dream), and start writing in it about this dream.

Bus Station, Failed Task, The Moon and Mars
      Method DILD (false awakening)
      Lucidity C
      Vividness C
      Control C
1201: I think I am in a suburb of New York City. I am near the river at a bus station. It's early morning and it's mostly light but the sun isn't fully up yet. I'm looking around for someone or something, not sure what. There are a few DCs around and in the booth selling tickets. I walk all the way around the building and give up on what I was looking for. I am wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants but white shoes. I exit the bus station through a chain link fence. I get on a skateboard and start skating away toward a residential neighborhood.

False awakening. I'm in an unfamilar bedroom with very little furniture. I'm sleeping on a cheap cot. There's just a bit of morning sunlight coming through a window to my right. This is all wrong so I become lucid and back it up with a nose-plug RC. But for some reason I question whether I am really dreaming. I nose-plug several times, each time confirming that I am indeed dreaming.

So I finally accept that I'm dreaming and try to remember my plan. Rub my hands. Ok, I do that but I bit rushed. Summon music. The song I have in mind is "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I imagine it in my head for a moment and expect it to keep playing on it's own. No. I try to will the universe to play it for me. No. I gesture with my hand, as if pressing a button on a remote control toward a stereo. No. Hmm. Not working. Discouraged, I abandon the rest of the plan.

Instead, I hop out the window and hover and land on the street. It's a quiet residential neighborhood, like in the scene before the FA. The street is framed with big trees whose leaves have turned orange and brown for the fall. The sun is just rising in the distance and the sky is still a bluish-black with stars visible. I can also see the moon and Mars, which is right next to the moon and almost as big. The colors are so rich and it's a beautiful scene. I think to fly to the moon or maybe fly to Mars instead. I run and jump and get some height but then halt. It's like my rockets ran out and I slowly drift back down to the ground. Now I'm stuck and I start the feel my physical body. I can feel the sleep paralysis and so now my dream body can't move. Even my neck is stiff but I'm still looking up toward the moon and Mars. I know I'm waking up soon and I can't move, so I start bring the moon down to me! I pull the moon closer with my mind and it's getting bigger and bigger. It's about to fill my view and crash into the Earth when I wake up.

      Zerg, Driving, Bar
1247: C. Was patrolling for Zerg (Starcraft again). I found some but forget to write down where on the map. (I think that was a false memory in the dream and I didn't actually experience it.) Anyway, I'm beating myself up for that mistake. Now I'm driving home in my car. The street looks like the area around my real office. I want to stop at a bar. I have to make a left turn into the parking lot and I have to wait a while as other cars are pulling out of the lot. I think I cut someone off. I walk into the bar and it's very small. Everything is wood paneled. I accidently bump into a guy near the door. He's with a group of rowdy people. They must be college students and I want to avoid them. I walk to the bar area. The stools are all out of place. I pick up one and place it at the bar and sit down. I'm sitting next to a middle-aged guy to my right. I think he says hello to me. There are two bartenders which I think is weird for such a small bar and only a few people inside. They are both young guys with short black hair. One says hello to me and asks what I want. I think for a moment and order a Corona Light (which I though was weird because I'd probably never order that in a real bar). Dream fades.

I planned to not record my dreams this night. I just wanted to get a solid night's rest. So no recall in the first half (the usual reason). And for the first couple dreams I didn't write anything down. By the last two, I realized the dreams were worth writing down so I did so.

      "Do Nothing"
      Lucidity: C
      Vividness: C
      Control: C
~0800: No written notes, so this is spotty from memory. I don't recall how I became lucid. The first thing I recall is doing a nose plug RC. I'm sitting at a campfire circle. It's dusk. It seems like I'm in the giant doorway of an abandoned factory or airplane hanger. A few other DCs are around the fire. They look like migrant workers. The scene made me think of movies like The Motorcycle Diaries and Mi Mejor Enemigo. I remember my plan: "Do nothing", practice reality checks, focus on all 5 senses.. For taste, I lick a rock on the ground and it tastes like dirt! I vaguely recall that I did things for the other senses. I think I had double vision and that frustrated me. I try to talk to the DCs but I don't recall they said anything.

      fragment
~0915: C. No written notes, so this is from memory. First thing I recall is a false awakening. I sense there was more before but no detail. I'm in my own room. I get out of bed and look at the time: 1:30pm. Crap, it is really that late? I get up, take off my Zeo headband and dock it in the bedside unit. It gives me a sleep score of 42. Really? I thought I slept better than that. Wake up for real. It's only about 9. My Zeo score for the night ended up at a more respectable 83.

      Unfocused Lucid
      Lucidity: C
      Vividness: C
      Control: D
1100: Just a few notes so this is mostly from memory. I'm in a classroom. It's a art or shop class so all the students are standing at work tables. In the dream, I seem to be distracted or sleepy. The teacher is a woman and there are one or two girls sharing my table. The first thing I recall is the teacher scolding me for not paying attention. So I become aware of what we are supposed to be doing. We have a piece of paper with a drawing on it. On top, we have a piece of tracing paper and we are supposed to trace the drawing under it. The drawing is an architectural sketch of a colonial era boat, I think. So I start tracing but there is a time limit. The teacher is nearby, watching me. She thinks I won't finish in time. The other girl at my table is done and she is also watching me. I feel nervous but I act confident. I think we do two tracings like this. The next task is to trim a large piece of meat. It's really thin, more like a the hide than the flesh. The tracing paper has become butcher paper. I move to a larger table and spread this gross sheet of meat over the paper.

Skip. Now I'm outside in what seems to be a school campus but it's unfamiliar. I'm walking up a grassy hill. There are many other students around. It's bright daylight.
I see a girl who I recognize as a high school classmate, Beth. I'm not sure but I think this must be what made me lucid. Her hair is weird, kinda like dreadlocks but also kinda like bananas. Anyway, her face is recognizable. Lucidity and control are low at this point. I don't RC or stabilize. I just march up to her, say hello, and demand a blow job. She starts doing it but soon turns into a weird creature and I stop.

I walk away and I'm starting to get my wits about me. But lucidity, vividness, and control are still pretty low. I try to think of my tasks. The only one I can remember is flying barrel roll. I hesitate because my recent flying has not been good. But I can't think of anything else to do so I jump and spin. It works! I'm able to hover horizontally a few feet off the ground and a spin multiple times. (Wikipedia tells me that this is actually an aileron roll, not a barrel roll) I fly around spinning for about 30 seconds. Maybe I popped out to third-person a bit. My lucidity was fading away.

Skip. Now I'm in a building. The school gym or theater maybe? Maybe I lost lucidity for a while and then regained it here. A troupe of clowns is performing a circus-style act. I am in a corner back stage, near the exit. I see a door but I want to try walking through the wall. I try a few times but fail. I try to convince myself that I can do it. I know this is a dream and that I can walk through the wall. But no luck. Dream ends.
In retrospect, this attempt at control was too forced.

      Dream Within Dream
1130 C. This was a combination of false awakening and false memory that made it feel like a dream within a dream. I sense that I am out of town for work (this is the false memory). I'm staying in a hotel and I'm sleeping and dreaming. In the dream, I am in a WWII-esque battle among the ruins of a bombed city. I'm with my childhood friend Collin. I only have a tiny pistol in this big fight. I see an enemy across the way and fire a few careful shots. The gun is very inaccurate but I manage to hit him in the head. Everyone is happy and celebrates me as the hero.

I have a false awakening in a hotel room. In the dream, I think that the war scene was a lucid dream and I remember the two real previous lucids. So I congratulate myself for 3 lucids in the night.

Skip. Now I'm back in my apartment. Combining the war dream, the false awakening in the hotel, and the false memory of traveling for work, this all creates the dream within the dream phenomenon. So anyway, I'm home in my apartment but it looks totally different. I sense that, as I returned from traveling, my roommate has just left. I see that he has left a bunch of books and devices about lucid dreaming. He is just starting to pratice having lucid dreams. I go in the bathroom and see that the faucet has been left on just a drip. But over several days, the drip has flooded the room with an inch of water.
