My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming

This my official journal. I intend to write it in every day. I can't write on paper fast enough, but I will do that at night so that I can get the best recall, and then transcribe it here. If this site goes offline, so does my journal!

    1. Lucid Flying Then Nose Dive to Bottom of the Sea

by , 09-23-2010 at 12:31 AM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
This is the first time I have been able to control my flying. Usually, I just bump along the ground, and can't gain any altitude. That changed tonight. I should have written this down when I woke up, but I was in a hurry to get to work.

I am in some kind of high school locker room. Everyone is in top shape but me, and they are clothed in street clothes. I am walking around in jeans with no shirt on. I am embarrased. People are looking at me in disgust. I am ashamed, but continue to walk. The dreamscape changes and I am in a casino. I still do not have a shirt on, and now I realize I can't possibly meet a girl dressed like I am. I begin to despair, and people are still looking at me with disgust. The dreamscape changes again, and I am in Modern Warfare 2: Invasion. I am looking around, and although it is a map from a game, it looks completely real. Also, it's just a regular scene, the destruction seems normal, and people are going about their business. I try to talk to girls, but an old former friend whom I do not like or associate with comes up to me and starts telling me that I will never find a woman, that I will be alone forever, and women don't like me. I grow from despairing to downright depressed. I am wraught with sadness, and I begin to weep in my dream.

I stand up and look around. For some reason, I can't see far enough away. I feel somewhat trapped. It starts to dawn on me that I am in a constructed reality, so I begin looking for flaws or dream signs. Still not lucid yet, I peak around the side of a van, and see the sky stretching out forever. The sky is both below and above me and both sides. I am standing on the edge of the map which seems to to be suspended very high up in the air. I have found the end of the map. Wait a minute!

This can't be real, I am dreaming! I smile and know exactly what I want to do. I leap off the edge of the map into the sky spreading my arms like wings. I begin to fall and then gently rise to flight. I am amazed! I did it! I look down, and the ground is so far down, I can't really make it out through the clouds. I am very high up (I estimate about 40,000 ft) and flying like an eagle, making crazing banks, nose dives, and soaring. I am going very fast. I see a sunset ahead of me with a very rough round opening in the sky itself. It is black, and seems to be some sort of portal. the colors around it are just like a sunset. I fly towards it, but never seem to get any closer. It is hundreds of miles away. I am completely euphoric, and almost forget my despair. It creeps back, but is dulled by my joy. I continue to fly, thinking what I should do next.

I look down and see the ocean. I raise up my head, soar up a bit, and then bank left and dive straight down. The wind is blowing past my ears, and I am diving fast and headed straight for the ocean. I feel no fear. I know I am dreaming, and I am now in a euphoric state. I hit the water and dive straight down. I see fish from my aquariums in the sea. It is very dark blue, but I can see. I stop and stand on the bottom of the ocean. How cool is this. I then lose lucidity.

I dreamt and became lucid two more times that night. 3 lucids in a row. I cannot remember anything about the other two. They were very short, and the lucidity was only mild. Just aware, not trying to control. None of the dreams were related, which seems odd.

    2. Giant Tidal Wave Nightmare

by , 09-11-2010 at 06:53 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
(Ocean City is a very narrow strip of land between Assawoman Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It is a peninsula, surrounded on three sides by water.)

I am at the beach. It's a beautiful day, and I am walking on the beach. Everyone is happy and partying. I walk from place to place, meeting friends along the way. The ocean is calm with a little surf. I turn around and look towards the bay and see a giant tidal wave forming. I estimate it is about 20 stories high. It is moving quickly towards me. I am scared. The ocean is behind me so there is nowhere to run. I look at the building in front of me. It is a typical beach front house. I think to myself that there is no way this structure can protect me. However, I have no choice. I run up and stand with my back to the wall placing the building between me and the giant wave. I wait, cringing in terror...

The wave hits. A section of the wall next to me blasts open with water shooting out. Water is rushing everywhere, but I am ok.
I move out from the building and look back at the bay again. Another wave is forming. I am already in hip deep water. I decide to dive under the water this time, and let the wave wash over me. It works....

A third wave is forming. There are still structures to hide behind, but I am afraid this is it. I am dead. Suddenly, my hands appear in front of my face. I think, "Wait, this could be a dream!". My hands look normal...

"How can this be?". I then start to realize that this MUST be a dream. There are dream signs screaming at me. I look again. This time I notice my middle fingers are shorter than any of my other fingers! Yes! I am dreaming! Wake the hell up!

I awake, smiling. It was only a dream! (LOL)

    3. Lucid in Church

by , 09-09-2010 at 07:06 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
I don't remember much about this dream...

I am in church, and kneeling beside my sister who is sitting in a pew. For some reason, I ask myself if I am dreaming, and the instant I do, I become lucid. I didn't even bother looking at my hands because I knew I was lucid. I vaguely remember trying to do some very boring things, so my lucidity was minimal. That's it..

    4. Lucid, stabilized, then forgotten...

by , 08-29-2010 at 07:17 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
I am standing at the mouth of a cave looking out. It is overlooking the sea. I immediately look at my hands and realize they are distorted. I turn them over palm up, and the fingers are too short, especially the ring and pinky. I am completely lucid. I look up and start to walk. I begin to awaken, I look up in the air and immediatley spin in my dream.

I don't remember what happened after that, but I woke very quickly, so whatever I dreamed was probably very short.

    5. Lucidity interupts the Heist

by , 08-22-2010 at 06:57 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
I haven't been Lucid in a few weeks. I'm glad I finally got one. I was losing faith! This one interupted my Dream Architects (my subconcious) intentions...lol. The details are too fuzzy to remember, but the major parts are still with me:

I am with someone I know. I think it's my ex-wife (god, I wish i could exorcise her from my dreams!). We have a mission, however, our car has broken down. We steal someone's car, and drive to West Virginia. We encounter a hotel and check in. We begin our mission by changing our clothes so we look like, "Them". They are on to us! I have to deceive the leader, which I do at first, but eventually he catches on. I realize I am in a school of some sort. I am sneaking around trying to find something. I don't remember what, but eventually find it. We have accomplished the mission and are ready to go. We are trying to leave, but we have to pack, and can't do it fast enough. We finally pack and leave. We got away! Now we go to return the car, and are caught by the owner. I do some quick haggling, and we agree to pay the owner $300. After all, I had the car repaired while it was stolen (huh?). It was a black Hummer, and very hard to drive. Nothing seemed to work properly.

I decide to look at my hands (FANTASTIC! The RC has become habit!). Hey, my pinky is too short. I am dreaming! I try to fly. No luck. Can't even get off the ground. I try to conjure an object in the palm of my hand. It doesn't work. I think to myself, "This is my dream, why can't I do this stuff?" I tell everyone around me I am dreaming. They don't seem surprised, but they stare at me watching. I check my hands again. Still dreaming. I try to fly again, but this time I close my eyes first. I can feel myself gaining altitude. Cool! I open them, and slowly sink to the ground. What's up with that? I can feel myself waking up, so I quickly spin around several times. Ok, I'm back. I try to talk to people, but they remain silent. The entire dreamscape has not stopped any animation. I don't know what to do, so I just slowly let myself lose lucidity.

I need to research dream control!

    6. Dream, No Recall

by , 08-20-2010 at 07:53 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
I need to start writing in my bedside journal. I can remember that I dreamed when I wake up, but I'm too tired to write it down. This takes a little more commitment than I figured, but it's worth it. Just like a good golf shot...lol.

    8. Water, Water Everywhere

by , 08-18-2010 at 04:42 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
Recall has been decent, although I cannot remember the entire dream. This one has a common theme: water. Seems like I dream about water a lot.

I am at the Baltimore Inner Harbor, or something similar. The water is clear, and under the water, I can see plants and people using remote control submarines. For some reason, there was a flood, and now water is everywhere.

None of this made any sense, but I awoke with a feeling of dread. I think there was more to the dream, and I just don't remember it all.

    9. Fighting for my life

by , 08-17-2010 at 06:06 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
It seems that the fish oil is working well. I am able to recall at least a fragment of a dream almost every night.

I am at a school of some type. Somehow, I've gotten into disfavor with the leadership of the school as well as some of the tough guys at the school. I am constantly threatened physically, but I buck up, and face it. I get into several fights, all of which are a blur, but I seem to do well. I have a hard time moving my arms to make a fist and punch, but my rhetoric seems to work just as well. I'm tagged as the bad boy, and put under house arrest. If I don't mend my ways, I'll end up in jail. Sorry, I don't take to bullies, so I continue. I push people to the edge, and attack my enemies with my fists.

The source of this dream is obvious to me. Yesterday I wrote a very passionate letter talking about the terrible state our country is in. I was extremely agitated as I wrote, pissed off by OBama, Pelosi, and Reed. The devil's triad. This dream is a representation of me fighting back against a government that is slowly but surely taking over every aspect of our lives, and ruining our country. This is my opinion, please don't rebut it. It has nothing to do with anything but to form the basis of my dream. If you disagree, so be it, but this is not the forum to argue.

Having trouble sleeping, which may account for my sporadic dream recall.

Two dream fragments. One from last night, and the other from the night before.

      1. I am at work or something. Something has happened. My boss tells me I'm getting a pay cut, along with others. We have to make ends meet....

      2. I have no idea where I am, there are loud noises and people running and shouting. Everyone is drenched with water, and you can see through their clothes to their underwear. I can't tell if everyone is happy or upset...

    11. Pool Party

by , 08-13-2010 at 03:31 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
      I remember a fragment of a dream.

There was a party. It was at a pool. I did not know the place. My cousins were there, along with other people that I knew, as well as a lot that I didn't. It was crowded, but not uncomfortable. Everyone was happy and partying. Someone was tossed into the pool with his clothes on.

    12. Dream, no recall

by , 08-12-2010 at 06:31 AM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
Had only a notion of one dream. When I tried to focus on it, it went away, leaving me remembering the feeling of knowing, but not knowing.

I just noticed that my air conditioner puts out isochronic tones in about the 2 to 3 hz range. Basically it's "humming" 2 or 3 times a second. I can look at the clock with a second hand, and count them. Not sure what part of the unit is doing this, as the base frequency is pretty low. I don't think this is uncommon, and would explain why people like the sound of the air conditioner or central fan to sleep. Cool.

    13. Pep rally nightmare

by , 08-09-2010 at 06:04 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
This dream has two recurring themes. I'm not sure why they didn't trigger an RC, except that I'm fairly new to inducing LDs and I don't think I've been doing enough (RCs and MILDing). I graduated from HS in 1983, and haven't seen my HS sweetheart in more than 15 years.

I am at my high school. There is a pep rally going on. Even though I know it's my high school, it has the layout of my daughter's grade school. For some reason, they won't let me in. I recognize two of the guys that won't let me in. They are big and bullies. I provoke them on purpose. I am in a bad mood, and sick of being bullied. I prompt them, and they don't respond. I don't ever get physical, but I do something that makes them mad. They give chase, and I stand my ground. "C'mon", I say, "let's go". They shrug their shoulders and walk away. I finally get in and see my ex-girlfriend. I try to get her attention, but she is with someone else. I am profoundly hurt. I try and try, but only manage to get the attention of her twin sister. She cannot help me. I spend the rest of the dream trying various ways to get her attention. Suddenly, the fire alarm goes off. Everyone is running. I run into the bullies again, but they don't try anything. We all start to leave the building. The rest is a blur.

    14. Failed Reality Check!

by , 08-06-2010 at 06:43 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
Last night, I had several dreams. This is the only one I recall, and I only remember a fragment, but what is really a bummer, is that I questioned the dream, and did a reality check, but passed! I therefore concluded that I WAS NOT dreaming! The reality check was something new. I tried to push a finger through the palm of my hand. I recognized the dream sign, and did this immediately. The problem is that my finger did NOT go through my hand! I've got to go back to just checking my hands; it's much more effective.

I am at the beach. I am near the shoreline. The sea is raging (think the movie "300") filled with foam and swells. It doesn't seem to actually come on shore, but just rage out a bit from the surf line. Suddenly it freezes. Not like ice, but suspended animation; it just stops moving. Hey, wait a minute, water doesn't do that. I look down and try to force my index finger through my hand. No good, it must not be a dream. I start to run. Others are running as well. The ocean then "unfreezes" and continues. It continues to freeze and unfreeze as I move through my dream. The sky is sunny and the weather is nice. Everyone is focused on the ocean. A water fountain appears. The water is moving as usual until it suddenly takes a shape and rises up in the form of a buddha like person. A Buddha made of water. I am fascinated, and so is everyone else. We start to move closer, and it collapses into water again....

    15. Nightmare

by , 08-04-2010 at 04:17 PM (My Official Journey Into Lucid Dreaming)
This is a sort of recurring dream that I have. The subjects are different, but the theme is always betrayal. I attribute this to the fact that my ex-wife was cheating on me for at least a year before I finally had enough and left her.

I am in a hotel or dorm or some mass housing complex in an apartment that is supposed to be mine but I don't live in an apartment. It has several rooms and all them are painted white. I am living with my girlfriend (one from over 20 years ago) and she is hanging out with my best friend a little too much. As the dream progresses, I find them getting closer. I try to put a stop to it, but I cannot. They continue through the dream to get closer. Everytime I am looking for her (which seems to be all the dream is about), I find her with my friend. Finally, I start to get enraged. I through things around, fight with him, and her. I punch him, but he doesn't seem to care. I push her hard onto a bed, and immediately feel guilty. You're not supposed to strike a woman. I start to cry. I can't fix this. I feel lost and lonely. Dream fades.

I am on the ground picking up quarters that someone has dropped. There are hundreds of them. People are walking past me looking at me. I feel like I'm doing something bad, but I continue. I find a Silver Dollar, and pick that up. Dream fades..
