      Post realdealmagic's Workbook

Hey, I'm Ryan, 16, and have been doing this for a month or so. My experiences so far haven't been too bad, still no lucidity, but my overall dream recall has been improving. I remembered, the other night, 2 dreams. That's never happened to me, so it's getting better!

I've been attempting a few methods, but I'm going to stick with DILD, using the SAT, along with a slight hint of MILDing as well.

Still no lucids, but I will have one soon! In fact, I'll have one tonight!

      First workbook, yay!
I'm glad to see you are recalling dreams, especially multiple ones, but there is probably a fair bit of room for improvement with your recall. So think about your dreams and try to remember them when you wake up and if you want write them down.
It's a safe choice sticking with DILD, have you tried a WBTB MILD yet, that could be a good way to get a lucid under your belt. But if not, the more random awareness you do the better.

How about writing your dreams down here for a week, then you can look back at all the improvement you will make

      Welcome, realdealmagic!
Way to go, that's the best attitude you can have! Just write everything in your DJ, no matter how small of a memory. Yes, you should give one method a chance to see some results. If you post in detail what exactly you do, maybe we can help you tweak it a bit. Believe in yourself, I'm sure your first lucid is near Happy dreams

I'm going to try out a WBTB MILD tonight I think, that method seems to be calling my name. I will go to sleep very soon, while keeping the mantra "This is a dream," in my head. I will then wake up in 5 hours, stand up, walk around a bit, probably come onto the IRC for a little bit, then go back to sleep, keeping the mantra in my head again. Hopefully that'll work...

Okay, got absolutely no progress last night, just as I didn't the night before. No recall or anything. Frustrated

Keep at it, you will see that you remember dreams more frequently up to the point where you are remembering at least a dream a night.

Hukif's Gravity RC seems like the best method to me, accounting for pretty much LD nightly, but the only thing is that I haven't had an LD yet, so I don't actually know the difference between gravity IWL and in a dream. I'm going to work myself to an LD with MILD and then when I manage to achieve a stable one, I'll focus on how it feels to be standing, walking, running etc. How my weight feels against the ground.

I don't think you need to acctually experience how RC feels in LD to practice it during day in waking life and to get you lucid. Pretty much every RC will feel differently and yet they do help people get lucid. (No one ever experienced true feeling of his finger going through palm, or how it feels to be able to breathe while nose is pinched shut.)

The way I use gravity RC is during my awareness practice, after my counting fingers, finger/palm, nose plug RC, I say 'If this was a dream, I would be floating/levitating'. And then I expect to rise up. When I said this in my regular dream, I suddenly unexpectedly lifted of the ground and realized I'm dreaming.

As to your previous post - please don't get frustrated, that's a LD killer. Please realize and accept that recall fluctuates for most everybody, even if you do things same way every day. It's completely normal. But if you get frustrated, it will make it worse, because you stop trusting in yourself and loose enthusiasm. And trust in your capability and excitement about your next LD are crutial to have an LD. You have to keep this up only till your first LD. After that, you'll have tons of inspiration and excitement to keep you going. Happy dreams

As gab said, you don't really need to experience it in a dream first. More than that, for me gravity will vary from dream to dream and my weight will feel different in each, so I would say that just trying out something that feels different is good enough.

Like, try to be aware of your weight when using a backpack and compare it to when you are not and think as the backpack version like the dream-one or how it would feel like.
      Also, how is recall going?

So I haven't been keeping up with this at all. Sorry.

My recall's not bad, it's definetely improving. I need to make more of an effort to get my notebook at my bedside ready for when I wake up. I've remembered like 2 dreams every day for the past while, and haven't written them down so they're gone.

Don't get discouraged. Keep writing your dreams. I know it sounds too simple to get you lucid dreaming, but believe me, it works.

If you bored with some RCs, mix them up. Make new mantras, write new goals for what to do in a lucid, keep it exciting. Try this awareness + RC technique:

Ask yourself a question 'wow, am I dreaming?' that jolts your attention and makes you stop doing whatever you doing. For a moment, entertain the idea, that you are sure this is a dream or false awakening and feel the excitement in the pit of your stomach. Just pretend, that you have had a lucid dream that was indistinguishable from waking reality, so any waking moment is possible to actually be a dream and you don't know for sure untill you RC.

Then, look at your hands. Are the any different? Count your fingers. Do you have the right amont? If you sure you are awake, say mantra "Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming". Repeat a few times, while looking at your hands. I believe, that this startling moment, when you first ask yourself, is very important, as this is what will start happening in your reg. dreams and get you lucid.

It all depends on state of your mind. You can do it, we all believe in you! Happy dreams

Yeah don't get discouraged! Sometimes a break is good anyway, so just think of it as a good rest-of-dreams experience and take it on again!
