Hi Darren and welcome to DILD workshop. Here we are concentrating on method called DILD and some additional methods that make your chances for lucid dream better. Besides DILD, second main technique for lucid dreams is WILD. You can find all about it in DV Wiki.

DILD is a Dream Induced Lucid Dream. That means, that you go to sleep normally and in regular dream you will suddenly realize, you are dreaming. For this to happen, you have to do reality checks, mantras, practice awareness technique. And write your dreams in dream journal. Here are some links you can check out, if you decide to practice DILD method.

      DILD tutorial
      Tutorial for Saying a Mantra
      Daytime awareness technique

Please read them and post any questions you may have. Happy dreams

Uhm ok so now I'm working on my dream recall.
I have some serious problems regarding being able to remember my dreams . I can remember it once I wake up but I feel like I'm only able to remember about 30 seconds of my dream.
Even if I get to remember 30 seconds of it, the moment I reach out to grab my Dream Journal , the memories of the dream fade and I feel like I have not even dreamt at all. Is this a common problem? I have searched for some solutions to this but none of them seem to help in me improving my dream recall.

Also, DILD happens at random intervals throughout my life?

Mull over the dream when you wake up, just lay there and think about what happened, this will 'strengthen' the memory and make it easier to recall. Then go to the DJ, you will find the improvement is really fast if you do this properly.
Also, DILD happens at random intervals throughout my life?
What do you mean? DILD does seem random in dreams but that's because we are in a state which isn't concious at all. The freuqency of DILDs will increase as you progress (:

Get in a habit of RCing every time you wake up. That could have been a false awakening, and RCs will help you catch those.

You certainly feel free to try WILD. In my opinion, you didn't give it enough time to work. Just so you know, you can keep practicing for DILDs, because that will help you with WILDs also, and if your WILD fails, you have a good chance to get a DILD. If you decide to come back, we'll be here. Best of luck and happy dreams

      Indeed.
Something I would like to point out is that a trick to remembering dreams, is to write down a single word then search for images of that word and see if it sparks a memory.
Also, yeah don't give up that fast. WILD tends to be harder so you need to stick with it more if you want to see progress.
