      Fieldy's Workbook

      Good afternoon all,

I'm Alex, 22, from London. I joined this forum back in 2009 and got really into LDing [even though I didn't post a huge amount], but have lapsed in the last year or so.

I'm trying to get it back but have lost a good 90% of my recall, only remembering one or two dreams a week if that. I've started a Dream Journal. It's quite uninspiring at the moment, but I'm trying as hard as I can.

My initial points of practice are going to be building my awareness. Reality Checks need to become a habit again, I had a technique to do an RC every time I walked through a door or doorframe, so that's a lot of RCs in a day. I'm building back up to it, but it's just reminding myself to do it each time.

I've just read Mastermind's advice about keeping a waking journal, filling it out before going to bed, so [it being National Stationery Day and everythin] I'm going to grab myself a notebook and start that this evening.

If anybody has any other pointers or advice on how to improve my recall I'd greatly appreciate them,

      Cheers!

Welcome to the DILD workshop, fieldy!

First I would suggest you get your recall to at least one dream a night. Writing in your DJ is very helpfull. Writi in it, even if you remember just one word or feeling. At first, it will be just a tool to teach your mind that you like having dreams, later a depository of your cool adventures. Each time you recall a dream, say thanks to your higher self for a dream and ask for another one

Doing RCs is great. Try to also do RCs that are not dependant on any item (like doorframe), because what if you don't see a doorframe in your dream - there will be nothing to triger RCing.
      Practice daytime awareness with RCs:

During day, no matter what you do, suddenly and with surprise, ask yourself "Am i dreaming?". This question has to give you a jolt, has to startle you, as if this really could be a dream, you just didn't realize it because you didn't RC. Look around, is everything as it should be? Any minor differences? Look at your hands (palms) and count your fingers - is there a right amount? Push you thumb through your palm and expect it to go through. Pinch your nose shut and take a breath and expect to breathe. Say "If this was a dream, I could float' and expext to gently lift off". Nothing? Look at your palms and say "next time I'm dreaming I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming". Repeat couple of times. Try to recall a happy feeling when you say the 'I realize I'm dreaming" mantra. Like day after christmas you wake up, you have happy feeling in your belly and yo don't know why, then you realize it's because you have pile of new presents. Or any other happy feeling that you can physically feel in your belly. Your mind will learn to associate you being happy with lucid dreams and will help you get both. happy dreams:

Great post gab, that's pretty much everything covered.
Welcome, thanks for creating a workbook, I'm glad you got back into lucid dreaming.
      I'll set you afew targets:
      - I'd like you to write in your dream journal every day, if you can't remember anything, then write down that you couldn't remember anything.
      - Stop doing systematic reality checks and only reality check when something strange happens
      - Try a new technique
      - Try a WBTB MILD
      Good luck

      Thanks for the replies,

Gab, I hadn't considered that the doorframe would only work if there were doorframes in my dreams - come to think of it, I usually recall being outside or in big halls where there aren't many doors at all. I'll try from now on, as you say, to ask myself if I'm dreaming and add some of the reality checks you mentioned. I've also never tried a mantra so I'll incorporate that into my day a few times from now on. Thanks for the ideas!

Arch, thanks for the tasks, I find it easier when I have something to work towards so this'll really help me! I'll do a bit more research and try the WBTB MILD tonight and report back.

      Thanks again guys

Well I managed to recall a couple of fragments from last night. But only snippets of the general gist of the dream.

Also I failed miserably at the WBTB MILD, it was my dad's birthday yesterday so I had a couple of drinks with him, I think that may have effected my ability to function properly. I'll try again tonight!

If I try an afternoon nap WILD would that affect the the WBTB later on? I'd like to try that as the new technique and have got an induction mp3 which is meant to be quite good.

Make sure you write down even the fragments or feeling you get from the dream. That's the only way your mind will understand, that dreaming and recalling them is important to you.

I don't think the afternoon nap will have effect on WILD, but it may make you less sleepy and thus going to bed later than normally. Don't forget to adjust your WBTB time. Good luck

Hm, have you tried to google images of the fragments from your dreams, to see if that gives you some hints to your dreams?
