      Marlowe's Workbook

      Hello!

I'm a 17 year old student currently living in North Carolina, and I've found I cannot live without lucid dreaming. My life is going great, but it's almost like I'm missing something without lucid dreaming...

I believe the crux of the matter is this: I long to accomplish my ultimate goal concerning lucid dreaming, which is experience an indefinite series of lucid dreams who's plot carries on from one dream to the next. Basically, I can continue the dream where I last left off, with no particular goal in mind except to explore the infinite wonders of my mind. I've experienced several lucid dreams since I discovered this site, tried various methods, and I believe that raising my self-awareness and recall would be the best approach to obtaining lucid dreams. My motivation for lucid dreaming has been off and on; firstly, I quit trying for 1-2 months because of the intense fear I got from WILDing, but I eventually got over that. After a while I lost motivation again because I lacked the drive to log my dreams, which in turn resulted from a huge drop in my recall. Consider this post a declaration stating that I will master the DILD, regardless of how apathetic I may feel towards dream journalism

As of now, my recall is almost non-existent, and I haven't any lucid dreams in about a month, but all of that changes starting tonight! I've had trouble waking up in the night and recording my dreams, but I now have an audio recorder, so hopefully that will make that task a bit easier.

      Short Term Goals
      • Restore my Dream Recall
      • Write in my DJ everynight, regardless if I actually recall anything
      • Get to AT LEAST 1-2 DILDs a week
      • Find out my I can't seem to change the dream environment in my lucids =/

      Long Term Goals
      • Master the DILD, having AT LEAST 5 DILDs a week
      • Accomplish my Ultimate Goal
      • Discover my DG, and have a close relationship with him/her/it
      • Experience Trascendental Dreams
      • Master Dream Control

I will achieve these goals by a combination of ADA, SAT, Reality Checks throughout the day, WBTB, and a high, consistent level of motivation . I will update this thread daily to keep myself motivated.

Last night was rough, I went to bed really late so I slept right through my WBTB alarm. I could only recall a few fragments, but I did write them down in my DJ.

Hopefully tonight will be better, I will go to bed early to ensure my alarm wakes me up for the WBTB, and hopefully I'll recall a few vivid dreams. Though I was very distracted today, I managed to squeeze in two 5 minute SAT sessions. I forgot to do RCs when abnormal situations arose today; hopefully in the upcoming days I'll routinely conduct these when I notice anything odd.

Hi Marlowe and welcome to DILD workshop.

Wow, you seem to have it ALL under control. It's great to have your goals written down.

      Couple suggestions:

      1. Write in your DJ, even if it's just one word or feeling you remember. You can also write "I have good memory and my recall is getting better every day". And believe it!
      2. Do RCs, even if nothing 'crazy' happens. If you are like me and your dreams are just replicas of everyday life with nothing out of the ordinary happening, you could miss your opportunity at becoming lucid.

      Keep us posted. Happy dreams

      Thanks for replying gab!

I definately struggle with your second suggestion; I need to make a serious effort to remember to RC during the day.
(still haven't transcribed them in my DJ yet). Tonight, I will try recalling what I did today in order to 'free up' space for dreaming tonight (it had worked very effectively in the past, hopefully it will now).

It's ok to have some reminders to RC. Like a small paper with RC written on it. You can get rid of them later, once RCing becomes a habit. And keep doing whatever worked for you in the past. Happy dreams

Interesting. I have done something similar to your goal, except that I won't get back to the exact same place I was at before. Mainly because as time passes in waking, the dream also evolves along with it.
Have you been using the audio recorder?

That's awesome that someone has done something similar to my goal, I might have some questions in the future when I get my lucid consistency up

Let's see...today I had about 4 SAT sessions, as well as 2 dreams recorded in my audio recorder. I have run into a problem though: I haven't had time to transcribe the dreams from the audio recorded onto the DV DJ. I'll solve this tonight by waking up a little earlier than I normally do. My goal for tonight is to recall 2-3 full dreams, and maybe one of them will be especially vivid

Hey, I like your goals and they seem very achievable
I have some tasks for you:
      - With the recall being non existant, we need to work on this, when you wake up attempt to remember what happened in the dream for about 10 minutes after that write down as much as you can in your DJ
      - Do that ^ every day!
      - RC whenever something odd happens
      - Attempt a MILD, with WBTB if you want
      - Try out some awareness techniques
      - Write your progression here! (Already doing that!)

Edit: Seems your recall is already improving, great work!

Made some great progress over the past two days!

Yesterday, I read a post about how you wake up multiple times during the night, but often aren't aware of it. My new goal is to become aware when I wake up during the night, and write in my DJ every time. Now, instead of my audio recorder, I'm going to recording my dreams using a tag system, in which I write down 2-5ish short words that will remind me about the dream when I wake up. Hopefully in doing this, I'll be able to fall asleep a lot faster after recording.
Yesterday, I remember having at least 6 dreams (a record!), but unfortunately, I was so groggy when I woke up every time that I didn't record any of them .
Today was my first time implementing the tag system; I woke up around 3 hours after I went to sleep and wrote down about 3 tags about a dream I just had. The tags then reminded me of another dream I had before that, and when everything was said and done, I had recorded 2 vivid dreams with a total of 10 tags!

I'll devote the rest of the weekend the getting my recall and awareness up to par, and next week, I'll start trying to DILD

I really like your effort You are doing great job on getting your recall up to par. The tag system is great. Don't want to mess up your schedule, but I don't see reason, why you should wait to DILD. I would go for it. Keep up your RCing, mantras and awareness training, and I don't see anything standing in your way. Happy dreams

OK so absolutely no recall Saturday and Sunday, which was quite disappointing (the lack of recall Saturday was probably due to me going to bed very late).
Last night however, I recalled 2 vivid dreams and 1 fragment, of which I'm about to transcribe into my DJ on here. More importantly, I'm going to start trying to DILD now that I'm recalling my dreams fairly consistently. Wish me luck

The tag system sounds good, one thing I like to do is to search for images of stuff I remember from a dream (or even when it is just a feeling) and use that to get some recall back.
      Anyway, good luck!
