      Post Jiffyhippy's Workbook

Hi, I'm Jiffyhippy, 14, english, and I have been interested in Lucid Dreaming for the past few months, I remember reading about it quite a lot a while back, but I gave up because I was too confused, but after reading some of the stuff here, Im getting back into it as of the past few days. I started a dream journal today, got 2 entries from dreams I can remember a few nights ago, and I have had 3 Lucid dreams before, all of which were DILDs.

As for Reality checks Im getting used to pressing my tongue to my teeth to see if it goes through, I remember my 3 lucids from a while back, and I guess I've deduced that I tend to realise I am in a dream when I am running. They all start with running, I have asthma quite bad IRL, so if I realise that I am running fucking fast without stopping, Im dreaming.
Dunno quite what else to put, I guess Im interested in learning how to DILD, and wouldnt mind someone explaining what Sleep paralysis & REM sleep is/how to help induce it.
      -Thanks

I suppose I should also add - I tend to realize Im in a dream when Im in part of my city (Leicester) even if it is a strange version of it. I have noticed in dreams for a while now that Leicester in my dreams, is similar, but not the same, sort of like a rough copy.

Hi Jiffyhippy, welcome to the workshop!

DJ is great, make sure you write everything down. Check out the DV Wiki for more RC, it's always good to use 2 or 3. Try to add some awareness training to your rutine - Puffin's DILD Guide - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views and http://www.dreamviews.com/f49/all-da...gyoshi-113253/

And here is the good news. When doing DILDs, there is no need to worry about SP or REM. You just go to bed normally, and because of your daytime practice, once in a regular dream you will realize, that you are dreaming. If you are curious about it anyway, there are some good articles in Wiki and in threads about both issues. Please ask, if yu have any other questions and post your progress. Happy dreams

      Hey,
I've got some tasks I'd like you to aim for:
      - Keep working on that recall, I'd like to see you being able to remember at least one dream per night, but much more can be achieved!
      - That is a cool RC, make sure you do RCs in real life when strange things happen or you feel overwhelmed
      - If your dreams are quite similar to real life, try out some awareness techniques
      - Try out a WBTB MILD
      - Write your progressions here!

Hi there and welcome to dreamviews, so 3 lucids uh? Was this that long ago?
I wonder, since you have asthma how could that be used as a RC apart from running? I believe that personal RCs are the ones that work the best, so maybe something like being aware of your breathing could work for you?

If you don't want to read the wiki, SP refers to sleep paralysis and is what people refer to when they wake up and can't move, often it is given the name of old-hag. While in SP, you wake up but not so much your body and your brain believes that you are asleep and starts to send vivid hallucinations, which may be in the form of visuals or audio or smells or anything of the like. A lot of people end up getting scary stuff because being paralyzed it is easy to get scared, however controlling that should give you the ability to toy with the hallucinations.

For REM, it stands for "Rapid Eye Movement" and is the sleep stage when the brain shows the most vivid hallucinations which we know to be dreams, during this time everything but the eye is paralyzed, so when dreaming your eyes will move the same or nearly the same as in the dream, which is where it got the name from.

And thats about the general part of it, maybe too general lol tell me if it is and might as well dig on some articles on SP and REM and their brain-workings.

Guess i should update, started a dream journal, I can already see how its helping, started it at the start of the month, but I didnt really get to use it till the 4th since I had a bad fever, but since then I have remember 6 dreams, and in good detail too, like I can remember specific things, like where i was and what the place looked like (normal, all run down, how many posters etc) I can even remeber things people have said, or general audio

Quick question, is there anything that can help me realise Im in a dream? I already do around 2 or 3 RC's a day, and do awarness checks every now and again too, before I sleep I think back to recent dreams, and my DJ is going well, anything more I can do?

You could use mantras like "I am aware that I am dreaming" and the like, also doing short WBTB increases the chances of a DILD greatly, even more so if you conbine it with a MILD.

I will tell! I think what triggered it was the lightbulb in my bathroom not working, I got confused, RC'd, and boom, I was in a dream I didnt wake myself up accidently with excitement, but my sister (3 years old) woike me up by screaming T_T SO I got a good 5 seconds of lucidity I guess this is just the start though

Well, Ive stopped updating my DJ recently, because Ive had a ton of exams so I havent had the energy to update it, but the main reason Im writing an update, is because despite not having a proper DJ anymore, Im still remembering dreams better, and this morning i had a proper Lucid Dream, about 5-10 minutes long from what it seemed, I knew where I was, and this is the strange thing, in dreams Iveremembered before, if it was a part of my city, it was broken down, different, but this was a park near where I live, it it was exactly the same, I could tell what I was doing, who I was with, what was going on, at one point, I could feel myself waking up, and I managed to stabalize myself! using the spinning technique

Hey, that's great, congrats! Let's hope your recall won't decline, but I would recommend writing in your DJ anyway, if you get a chance. DJ can help you find some patterns - like what has influence on you dreaming, lucid dreaming and recall - for example bed time and length of sleep, WBTB time and length, any supplements, RCs you did during day...

Good job on stabilizing. Happy dreams
