      JadeGreen's Workbook

Hello. I'm JadeGreen and I am 16 years old. I've been into lucid dreaming for about 2 and 1/2 years now. I have had about 50 lucid dreams, but my biggest issues have always been that having lucid dreams takes alot of effort for me. I also have alot of difficulty controlling when I lucid dream. For example, I could spend a whole week doing reality checks, mantras, etc and not lucid. Then decide to take it easy for a couple days. BANG! Then I have a lucid dream when I haven't got any goals in mind and have difficulty figuring out what to do with the dream.

There was one time that lucid dreaming was great for me. In the summer of 2010, I had an awesome lucid dream chain where I was having lucid dream about every other night for about two weeks. And the dreams were long and vivid, and I had good control over them. Other than that, every dream I had has been a lot of work and luck.

One more issue, that nobody seems to be able to help me with. I get lucid a lot more than I give myself credit for, because especially in recent months, I've been becoming lucid quite a lot, but immediately waking up upon becoming lucid. I categorize these separately in my dream journal, calling them "minor events". And know that I am rather experienced by now and can say that getting excited is not the problem.

My recall seems to be suffering too. I remember dreams almost every morning but they seem more blurry than they did when I was first starting out. They also seem to have grown to be more strange, in a way. It's actually gotten to the point where there is no plot to the dream and it is just a random series of events. Sometimes when I do a dream journal entry, I have difficulty putting events into order or dreams have large holes in the plot. This is especially a problem for very long nonlucid dreams.

I have generally relied on the MILD technique for most of my lucid dreams. When I started out, I used DILD like most beginners. I now use both techniques in conjunction in trying to heighten my chances.

I'm just about sure that I came looking for help in the right place. Thanks in advance for your help.

Oh! My goal! I almost forgot to put this. My goal as of right now is to be able to have a stable lucid dream on command with less effort than I use now. (This is of course assuming that I sleep under normal circumstances.) Improve my recall a little, too.

      Hi Jade,

well, your problems are quite common. You see, lucid dreams don't really happen on command. You can do your best and get none and then you get a few when you stop your effort. But most of the time, when you doing your practice correctly, you should be getting consistent LDs. By consistent I mean, that there still will be time periods with more lucids and periods with less, or none.

Same goes with recall. I can recall some long and detailed, complicated dreams for couple of days, and then just fragments or not even that for a couple of days after. As long as you get more days with good recall than none, I think you are ok.

Now, I have heard from more people, that they get LDs the moment they stop trying. So it could have something to do with a fact, that LDs don't really work, when we WANT them, and we want them hard. They work more when we just simply KNOW, that we can do it and we stop trying to force the issue, or even getting frustrated over that. And what also doesn't help, when someone thinks that his recall/LD count sucks and that makes a person not happy. What helps is having the Intent, being happy and content about all dreams, even fragments and to know, that there are ups and downs and that's perfectly ok.

I'm sure you know, that you don't allways have control in LD, or you can have different level of control.

Since you know the techniques, you have had plenty of LDs, all I'm gonna stress is the importance of daytime awareness. This is probably the most important part in not only getting consistent LDs, but also good quality LDs, such as length, awareness, vividity and such.

For this, I would recommend you read the WILD class lessons. It's about intent, awareness and the whole mental state a dreamer should have. And if you are interested to take your training up a notch, dream joga classes. They are both here in DV Academy. They will help with all dreams, including DILDs.

I'm afraid, that without work there will be no LDs, untill you maybe have couple of thousands of them.

Hope, that I have answered at least some of your questions. Happy dreams:alien

Well I was considering going into the WILD classes because I have already had a couple of WILD-similar experiences (Even a successful "WILD") that sort of happened on accident. I don't know much about preforming WILDs because ill be honest, I'm a little intimidated by that technique. All that I really know is that you have to wake up during a dream then go back to sleep and go though sleep paralysis or something, and you get lucid.

I'm suddenly interested in trying out the WILD technique considering that so many people have had so much difficulty, and i'm doing it without even trying. I want to keep my head and not come to any rash conclusions, but It's something that I'm going to look into.

I love WILDing, mostly because of the transition sensations you get just before you enter LD.

So, WILD is when you go to sleep, you let your body fall asleep as usually, but you keep your mind awake, untill dreams start to form and you enter them while still awake. You do this after at least 4.5hrs of sleep.

And here is a kicker - you do not go through SP when WILDing. That is a common misconception. What you may or may not experience is hypnogogic hallucinations (HH). They can be feeling of floating, vibrations, sounds, movement, or perhaps something else. These are normal signs of falling asleep, only normally, when our body falls asleep together with mind, we don't notice any of this, because they happen after we fall asleep.

Once you know what can happen, you are ready, you won't freak out, and you get to your LD.

What you mentioning is DEILD. You wake up from a dream, stay motionless and enter another dream, this time lucidly. It's a shortened WILD.

Both methods are fun. Best tutorial you will find in Sageouse's class in Academy. Good luck and Happy dreams

I think that I'm going to try the WILD classes, now that you mention it. If not, I see no harm in coming back here if things don't work out all that well. I promised myself not to make unsupported conclusions, but it seems like the WILD method may actually be worth a try for me.

Sure thing. You can try WILDs and you can keep your DILD/MILD practice to catch those LD when WILD doesn't work out.
