      ibeGallery's Workbook

Hi, I'm 15 years old and live in England. I'll go by the name of ibeGallery if anyone wants to quote or anything.

I firstly had my first lucid dream that I can recall about 4 or 5 months ago, and started to learn about lucid dreaming about a year ago but I have never properly give it a go until now. I have never had a expected lucid dream or anything like that, both of the ones I can recall are both natural ones but I have only ever had one that I can recall after finding out about lucid dreaming.

The first lucid dream I had was at someones else's house where I have never slept before. I went to sleep at about 1 o'clock and woke up at about 6:30 AM in the morning, after waking up I started to try to get back to sleep and was thinking about what my existence in this world is and why I am here etc, all the deep questions you ask yourself every now and then. After drifting back off I went into a lucid dream, where I was on a beach (looked like it was in Spain) and got straight up, the beach was beautiful etc but I kept thinking while walking around for like 2 or 3 minutes, how can I get home, how did I get here and what am I going to do. After thinking those questions over and over again, I just thought how could I really be here and then remembered about reality checks so I went into a shop just on the beach front and saw a man stood there inside, I could see him from the back (there were about 7-10 people in the shop), he had a white t-shirt and a half-caste skin colour and a hint of grey in his hair. After looking at his head for a while I thought When I turn back around this man will have no hair, so I turned around, waited about 5 seconds and turned back and half of his head was bold, and half wasn't, so it felt as if what I was thinking happened but it only turned half of his head bold and not the whole thing.

The second dream I had was about 2 months ago in early December from what I can recall. I slept on a different side of the bed as I do usually and went to bed at probably about 3 o'clock or something along those lines but I can remember being awake for quite some time before getting to sleep. I got to sleep and then went straight into a lucid dream from what I can recall, can't remember if I woke back up or not. But anyhow, I started in a hotel room, it was a oldish hotel and was a really posh one, all of the skirting board and ceiling bit was carved nicely and had a varnish finish to it, all of it with a old look to it. I opened up the door and began to go downstairs where I saw like 10-15 of my friends from school etc, people I knew who walked past, and I said hi to a couple of them etc. After some of them walked past I looked outside the front door as it was just down a short hall, and there was a beach across the road, there didn't seem to be any wall splitting the beach from the pavement you woke on, so I called one of my friends over and we walked over and I sat down on the beach sand and looked out and I could see the end of the beach nearby and then a small dock for ships quite a bit away. My friend went back into the hotel after about 5 minutes and I stayed out by myself, he went in as I started to go into the sea. After he went in I was about stomach deep in the sea and I could see the small bank which drops down to about 20ft from about 4ft deep in water, instantly (this was the exact same style as I had on a holiday at a beach). I got to about the edge and then dived down and swam a bit below 7ft or so in the water and I got like 30cm from massive amounts of fish swimming together, I could see loads of sea life around and it was really close, from what I can recall the fish were yellow with grey stripes on them and quite large in height but not fat etc. After that I can't remember much and the next thing I know I was in the main town with two of my other friends and can't remember much about being in there. After that I can remember being in a airport with about 30-40 of people I go to school with, and some teachers to like it was a school trip. When I woke up something kept poking it my head telling me it was in like some place in America that started with the letter A and someone told me it in the lucid dream but I can't remember when, they told me after I asked them and it was a really weird name.

Thanks for reading, I hope to update and keep up to track with this course - ibeGallery.

I tried Mantra yesterday night, it wasn't successful but I could feel I was getting closer, and closer. I could feel my body going to sleep as my mind was still awake but once I thought about my body being asleep, it made my body jump and wake straight back up but I could feel some weird feeling while doing it. I used the mantra 'I lucid dream tonight', as I thought it would work good. I got it from the collection of techniques by gab. I also drank a bit of water before falling to sleep as I did mantra. I also did about 2-3 RDATs during the day, and my state of mind is pretty good as I always think I'm going to have a lucid dream every time I try to have one.

EDIT: I also did a couple of reality checks also, not just random ones, when strange/weird encounters happened.

      Welcome to the DILD class!

good job on getting those 2 lucids. Even if they were natural, it will help you practice for your next ones. If you remember that feeling you got when you were lucid, use it when you RC. RCs work the best, when you put emotions into them.

The fact that you are starting to be aware of your body falling asleep is great.

Do you have a dream journal? It would help you with recall and many other things.

      So, here is the plan:
      1. Keep doing awareness question +RCs plus mantras during day.
      2. It's good to have at least 2-3 different RCs.
      3. Before bed, do a few minutes of awarenss + RCs +mantras.
      4. As falling asleep, try to not get too excited and fall asleep normally, while repeating your mantra.

I know you have read the Collection... There is my favorite mantra and RC - the looking at hands. It's a classic from Castaneda's book. It got me lucid for first 25 or so LDs. But of course, feel free to use anything that feels and sounds good to you.

Keep me posted of your progress and ask your questions. Happy dreams

Thanks for the great response gab, I've got a notebook to use as a DJ but I haven't remembered any of my dreams in the past 2 days, hopefully I can remember one of them tonight. I'll try the plan you gave me tonight as I've done quite a bit of it throughout the day today, so hopefully all is good and I can have a lucid dream tonight, if not there is always tomorrow.

EDIT: Do you know if meditation would help with anything to do with lucid dreaming? Like awareness etc, I've been thinking about trying it out recently, it looks interesting and worth a try, thanks.

If you don't remember any dream, please try some of the ideas from Collection... article. And just be positive about your dreams and memory. If you think your memory is good, then it WILL become good.

Meditation should help with awareness, with ability to quiet your mind, concentrate on one task, and bunch of other things. Check out sivason's Dream yoga class. Happy dreams

I tried the plan last night and added a couple of things.
I did RCs, awareness and mantras throughout the day and then I tried a subliminal sound track thing I found on youtube, I listened to the majority of it with my eyes closed on my chair and it made me really tired so I went to bed afterwards and did mantras while trying to get to sleep and a RC before bed, also drank some water etc, the last thing I can remember saying was my mantra 'I lucid dream tonight' and I must of said it at least 300-400 times, I said it every breath but got distracted a little near the end when I was nearly asleep but then got back on track with it.

Do you think apple juice would help? I read up that drinking it before bed could help with vividness and remembering dreams. I can't remember any of my dreams last night either, and haven't for the last 3/4 nights.

EDIT: Is there a feeling when going into lucidity after mantras? And where will you firstly be, in your bed like you was when you were awake? Because 2 days ago I was doing the mantra and I felt as if I went to sleep and then I found myself awake again still doing the mantra but I never did a RC and just kept saying the mantra and trying to sleep, is it possible this could have been a lucid dream? I also felt kind of weird like I have never felt before and it went through like the whole of my body.

I've been doing quite a lot of RCs today, about one every hour and I'll do them as soon as RC pops into my head. I've been counting my fingers, holding my nose and attempting to push a finger through my other hand, hopefully at least one will work when I'm dreaming. I've done a bit of mantra also but not much, hopefully I can lucid dream for my 3rd time tonight.

First of all, I like your enthusiasm. keep at it

But please don't forget, that all this may need time to start working for you. So have patience. Every time you try, you get closer to success.

      1. apple juice - i have heard it may help. So can cheese and bananas - vitamin B6
      2. there is all kinds of really strange feeling you are unfamiliar with, as you falling asleep. It's really hard to diagnose what it was exactly. You can feel extreme relaxation, floatiness, heaviness, vibrations, jerking, ...

With more experience you will get to know these feelings better.

When you lost track of mantras and came back to them and you felt weird - could have been a LD, or just you fell asleep or lost track, and then regained awareness. That happens frequently when you WILD and when you pay attention to your falling asleep process.

Whenever in doubt, do a motionless RC - think to yourself "If this was a dream, I would float up". See what happens. if you start seeing your room and your eyes are closed do the same, or just roll out or get up. You could be in a dream.

When I'm about to get into LD, I feel it in my head, some kind of buzzing. But not always. keep trying, I know you will succeed.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to try it again tonight and hopefully have a lucid dream. I've been doing RCs every hour or so and done an awareness check once or twice also, thanks again for the help, I'll keep the workbook updated.

I'm also going to try WBTB tonight also as I don't have to get up early in the morning.

EDIT: I did the plan at night and went to bed at 1:30 in the morning and got to sleep around 2:00, doing mantras was the last thing I did. I got up at 7:30 for WBTB and looked on DreamViews real quick and drank a cup of apple juice, also had some cereal to eat. I went back at bed at 7:55 after doing a quick RC etc, I tried going to sleep while doing mantras and I must of spent at least 60-90 minutes of trying to sleep with mantras so I just gave up and went to sleep after another hour or so, so it took me about 2-3 hours to get to sleep. After going to sleep, I woke up every now and then but went back to sleep and after getting up I could remember partial bits of my dreams after about 5 minutes, so I wrote some keywords out of them in my DJ. No luck on lucid though I don't think, although mantras wasn't the last thing I was thinking before sleeping. Although progress was made.

If mantras are keeping you awake, start to go to sleep normally, and get back to mantras when you closer to falling asleep. It's also possible, that you were not tired anymore. Or maybe you stayed up too long. Those are all things that you can adjust next time. The whole process is a trial and error type of thing.

      Keep at it
