Hey I'm Justin I'm 18 years old, I heard about lucid dreaming when I was 16 I was so interested in it but never stuck with it. I've never had a lucid dream but I've been through sleep paralysis and had a weird experience.
I want to have my first lucid dream, so I started a dream journal, it's helped me a lot with recalling my dreams, but I want to become lucid

Welcome to DILD class!
I take it you are aware of the different techniques available to induce a LD. Here we talk about DILD - LD that you get when during regular dream you realize that you are dreaming.
It's a very intense and incredibly exhilarating moment.
So, to have lucid dreams via DILD, here is what you need to do:
1. Practice during day (awareness question, Reality checks and mantra) few times an hour.
2. When going to bed - few minutes while sitting on bed.
3. As falling asleep - repeat mantra in your mind
All steps are here in this article Collection of techniques for DILD.
And here is our official DILD tutorial.
Please read it and ask, if you have question about it. I'll be happy to help you achieve your first lucid dream. :alien:

I had a really crazy dream a couple weeks ago, maybe you can tell me what it means, I woke up in SP I think. I started to shake really bad, and hear a buzzing noise, I opened my eyes and could see my wall right next to me. It started to vibrate then a purple portal opened up and it started to suck me in. I woke up after

SP is, when you can't move, no matter what. It normally starts after we start a dream, so we don't act it out. If you never had SP, you will most likely not have it when lucid dreaming. The vibrations, sounds and images you may see, are regular signs of falling asleep. You may also wake up into that.
When you say you opened my eyes, is it possible, that you didn't, but the portal you saw was a dream, or just hypnagogic/hypnapompic hallucination. In either case, it's a good sign. it means, that you are more aware during your sleep.
Next time, let it play out. Keep yourself aware by thinking a mantra "I'm dreaming". Happy dreams:alien:
