      Post KnightTime's Workbook

Hi, I'm KnightTime. I want to get into LDing. I saw a post on iFunny (iPhone app) about Lucid Dreaming and was interested, so I looked up Lucid Dream forum on Google (I am familiar with forums, and I think they are very helpful). I found DreamViews.com and became immediately excited and involved in Lucid Dreaming. I am currently going to school, which ends May 24th, so I will have a lot more time for LDing then. I have to wake up at 5:50 every morning to get ready for school, so I have very limited time to LD. I was contemplating whether or not to wait to start until school was over, but I decided to at least get some help for preparation.

I chose MILD (I saw in a previous post that MILDs are posted here as well as DILDs) because it seemed the most convenient for me, since you can do it right when you go to bed, or so I heard. I will start a Dream Journal tonight, and put it by my bed. Ever since Sunday (when I got into LDing) I have had 3 straight regular dreams that I actually experienced, which, believe it or not, is probably a record for me! I haven't actively pursued a LD, except for last night. I tried using a mantra, but I played basketball a few hours previously so I think I was too tired and eventually just drifted off to sleep without keeping my mind aware.

      1. I was wondering what is the best mantra to use for having your first Lucid Dream with a MILD?
      2. With a limited amount of time for LDing, do you think MILD would be the best choice or would DILD work better?
      3. Do you have any good tips for keeping my mind aware and awake while attempting a MILD?
      4. What do you recommend putting in my Dream Journal?
      5. Is there any additional info you need?

      Welcome to MILD/DILD class!

MILD is the simplest method to achieve lucid dream. It involves mantras, which will help you set your intent and tell your mind what you want to happen. And reality checks, which will help you realize you are dreaming. You can do this without awareness training, but awareness is very simple to do and it can multiply your chance at getting lucid.

You can pick any mantra and of course, make your own. For the start, I will recommend this classic mantra and RC.

      1. During day, bring your hands up, about chest high, with palms facing you. Look at your hands. Examine them, as if you saw them first time. Notice details. While looking at them, say "Next time I'm dreaming, I look at my hands and realize I'm dreaming."

      2. Put your hands down. Bring them up again and repeat the mantra as many times as you wish. No need to do it more than 20 times at a time. But you can do this a few times a day, every time you remember.

Each time you do it, be amazed, that this little trick will get you into the best adventure of your lifetime. Know, that it will happen tonight. Don't think into future. Think about it happening now. Your brain will interpret 'now' as the earliest opportunity, which will be tonight.

      3. Repeat this when sitting on your bed ready to go to sleep. Then when you falling asleep, say the mantra without looking at hands a few times. Mantra is most powerfull, if you say it when you already falling asleep. You may start to just muble it or even mix up the words. No problem, your mind knows what you mean.

If it keeps you awake, start falling asleep first and then say the mantra a few times.

Now, if you want to add awareness to this practice, it's very simple.

Just before you do the RC and mantra, look around you. Think in surprise and amazement "wow, this could be a dream". Then bring up your hands and say the mantra a few times.

There is more to the awareness and I will link you little later, when you have this practice down.

If this practice seems simple, that's because it is. Here is the most important part. Intent and excitement:

When you saying your mantra, KNOW, that it works. Be excited about your first lucid dream, that you KNOW it's coming tonight.

Don't wait, start practicing. This technique has a potential to give you your first LD tonight.

Getting up early is not an issue. It more depends on how long your sleep is. For a MILD/DILD, you don't need to wake up at night to attempt a LD. You do all your practice during day and as you going to sleep. Then you just going to bed normally.

If you happen to wake up at night, take a moment to say your mantra and RC a few times.

That's a good recall. Keep writing in your DJ, to keep your recall up.

With MILD/DILD, you don't need to keep your mind aware. You just go to sleep normally.

      1. I was wondering what is the best mantra to use for having your first Lucid Dream with a MILD? the looking at hands mantra - see above
      2. With a limited amount of time for LDing, do you think MILD would be the best choice or would DILD work better? DILD is just added awareness to RCs and mantra. I would recommend DILD, but you can give MILD a try.
      3. Do you have any good tips for keeping my mind aware and awake while attempting a MILD? There is not need to do that. You keep your mind awake when you WILD. Once you have a few DILDs under your belt, check out WILD, it's a wonderfull experience.
      4. What do you recommend putting in my Dream Journal? DJ details and more about all this in Collection of techniques for DILD.
      5. Is there any additional info you need?[/QUOTE] Yes, your report of your first DILD on my desk first thing in the morning

First, I was looking out of a window inside an unfamiliar house. I saw a bunch of giant plants in giant flower pots, with K. standing by one smiling. (We are planting Marigolds in Life Science IWL.) Then, all of a sudden I'm on a long road, which reminded me of GTA because there were old-ish buildings on one side of me. The other were many sets of silver bleachers, with music stands in front of each set. A ton of people were on the road with me. I had people from my school running up and down the road doing different stuff. I started running back and forth to the end of the road and back, doing stuff I don't remember with different groups of friends. At the end of my dream, I saw S. wearing a shark outfit and started taking it off. Z. was right beside me. I woke up after that, although I do vaguely remember being on my iPod, then putting it away for some reason.
The dream seemed very vivid. It was about 5:30, and the sun was setting down in the sky. I could feel that it was about 70 degrees out. That is all I remember.

I really wish I could have gotten the cue from the giant plants that I was dreaming, but I am feeling very hopeful for tonight!

      1. Do some more of awareness. The "wow, this could be a dream" and you really be surprised when you say it.

      2. Few times a day, look at something and say "that's strange". It helps, if it really is strange. But it works even with normal things.

      3. Few times a day think "if this was a dream, I would levitate" and expect to fly up. Give it a tiny push and expect to take off.
