      Winston's Workbook

My name (at least in the dreamviews.com world) is Winston. I'm 31 and have been practicing lucid dreaming for about two and a half months now, ever since I heard a fascinating interview on NPR with Stephen LaBerge. I've read posts all over the internet, watched loads of YouTube videos, and have read a lot from LaBerge's "Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming" and the more recent book called "A Field Guide to Lucid Dreaming".

I started recording my dreams in a dream journal semi regularly back in June. Since the beginning of July I've written in it just about every day. I typically remember a couple dreams, although some mornings I'll manage to record 5 or more. I do have some days where I don't remember anything, but I feel like my dream recall has gotten pretty good. Prior to keeping a dream journal I didn't think about my dreams at all, and remembered essentially none of them.

I've used a number of apps to aid me in RCing. After several weeks I felt like automated reminders weren't really helping me, since those same automated reminders don't surface in my dreams. By that point thinking about RCing had become a bit more natural to me, so I've tried to remember to RC throughout the day at fairly random intervals, usually by plugging my nose, looking at my UP Jawbone wristband (reading the words "Jawbone" a couple times) and/or pushing my finger up to against my palm. I've noticed that a handful of my dreams involve peeing in strange places, so I try to RC whenever I'm in a bathroom.

I was starting to get a bit disillusioned, having not experienced a lucid dream yet, but this past Sunday night I had my first one—it was incredible! The content of the dream itself was actually fairly blasé, but acknowledging that I was dreaming and at the same time seeing how real everything was was just mind blowing.

I could go into more detail, but I think that's a good starting point. If there are things you think I should expound on let me know. This is the first lucid dreaming post I've made on the interwebs and I'm excited to get feedback/direction from the community!
