      Heavy objects

Hey, so I haven't been to the site in years. I really like what's been done with the place, btw. Recently I have been getting back into some serious dreaming and I had an experience this morning that really threw me off. After I woke up and wrote down three of the most vivid dreams I have had in a while I decided I felt it would be a good idea to try a WILD in the shower (works really well for me). I found myself in a mostly accurate recreation of my work with a coworker, but every thing that I tried to pick up I couldn't lift. I was lucid and this was frustrating to me, but the more I tried to focus on the objects the more difficult it became to do things. Then my shoes got stuck to the floor, and I took them off but then my feet got stuck to the floor. Since I couldn't move I decided to tell myself to wake up and I got on with my day. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any ideas on how to overcome sticky or heavy objects?

Thanks, and hello again DV! I think I need to become a regular poster here to further my recently rediscovered dreaming ability.

Feels like when I was fighting in my dreams, my punch were really slow and I couldnt help it. I forced so much to make it faster but I couldnt hit my opponent in the face...

I guess when I think about it things not doing what they are supposed to or working the way you want them to is a pretty common facet of dreams, and my focusing on their malfunctions might have just been encouraging the world to behave that way, but it really did feel like my environment was sort-of ganging up on me.

I think you're right about inadvertently encouraging the world to turn against you. The more you focus on something, the more it becomes real. Your best bet would be to try a completely new approach, or distract yourself by thinking of something new.

You've got it there - your belief in the world turning against you mid-lucid encouraged that to perpetuate. Should you run into this again, it would be a good idea to either consider why the world might be behaving in such a way, and either use your awareness to summon something to relieve yourself of these bindings, or else do the most interesting option available to you - wait and look around, try to find something that might hint as to why the environment is holding you, or what might help you get unstuck. If dreams are messengers, then this could be something worth looking into.

I'm not on DV much these days, but I'll try to toss a cool dream or two into my DJ.
