Exclamation Altering time with in a dream.

I was wondering if it was possible to make a dream truly feel like several hours, days, weeks.

I had a series of dreams a while back that were all connected. I felt like 2 days past, I remember in the dream thinking "WOW, I had 2 lucid dreams in a row". I had set my alarm for 7:00 AM, I woke up and passed out(I also turned alarm off). I had a lucid dream(as soon as the dream started I knew I was dreaming). The dream became blurry and I woke up, but the thing is I woke up into another dream, a false awakening. I had lucidity in I think 2 of them(but barely any). In the rest I had great dream control, after a dream finished I woke up in the false awakening and carried out my day. So I basically lived out 2 days in dream time, 3 hours in real-time.

      Inception anyone?

It's called time dilation, I haven't done it myself, but I heard it makes the dreams seem a lot longer than what they actually are.

That is not time dilation. Time dilation is when you alter time itself to travel into the future IE: travel at the speed of light, or enter a black hole.

After the whole Inception scene dealing with this subject (don't want to describe it and cause spoilers) I've been wondering this myself. I haven't even had a lucid dream yet since I've just started, but the concept seems interesting enough, and there has to be some way to make dreams seem longer.

Yes you can extend a dreams time, I was reading up on a thread someone made in the "Beyond dreaming" section(you should be able to find it). There is something called psychological time, its a lot to read but it is worth it.

there are some techniques to dilate time, one i read was u imagine a clock and try to fit more hours, like a normal clock has 12, then you try to fit 24 or 48 or i guess u could try 2 go higher but it might be harder to do so.

That sounds like an interesting way to do it. As soon as I actually start lucid dreaming I'll be sure to try it out.

I know Raven Knight has a few entries in her DJ where she does this.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

You know dilation means to expand right? I'm not talking about the scientific version of time dilation, I'm talking about the version you should be running a search on to find out more about it.

Can I get some more experience people in here? I am currently practicing time dilation in dreams.

I've always noticed that my LDs are a lot longer than they are in the real world, typically when I nap for a few hours but the dream feels like much longer. One method might be to make a big clock and adjust a gear in the back so it moves slower.

Try the tutorial I wrote in my signature. It seems to work for a lot of people and is very easy to understand.

I think I might have done this unintentionally once, my five minute lucid dream lasted about an hour
'Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
      Contagion to this world.

Probably the same phenomenon as when your whole life "flashes before you" before you think you're going to die.
