      Question Anyone Know Another Way?

Hi DV! Okay, for the first time ever, I had LDs three nights in a row. Guess how I awoke each time. The stupid closed-eye method. Every time I try it, no matter how hard I believe, it wakes me up. WTF? Yeah, yeah, the door method and the corner turning method. But, I don't always have a corner or a door by me, so I resort to the closed-eye. I tried snapping my finger, but that worked as well as trying to earn money for a $400.00 guitar without a job or allowance. So, does anyone know a method of control that doesn't involve closing your eyes, or using doors and corners? Please post if you do.

I'm sort of confused on what you need help with. Are you trying to stop the dream from fading when you start to wake up?

Well, I can't stop it from fading because once I use the closed-eye method, I'm basically killing the dream, without a second to stop it. I really need to know another method of spawning things.

I have spawned things under a blanket before. You could use a bucket, box, cup, etc... Anything that would cover what u r trying to spawn. Now if it is something big then behind a door or around the corner is your best bet...

You could also just turn around and expect whatever you want to be behind you... The same physics apply as the door or corner method but u dont need a door or a corner!

Heh, when I was into LDing a couple of years ago, I'd treat the dream world as a "genie" and yell my wishes out loud and then look around and find whatever I was asking for. That worked pretty well.

Closing my eyes tends to mess up my dreams too, so these days I usually just open a door or drawer or something and stick my hand in expecting to find whatever I'm looking for. You have to have no question in your mind that it'll be there. If you're trying to summon a gun, open a drawer and just grab it like if you knew exactly how it was positioned in the drawer as if you'd put it there five minutes ago.

Yeah, closing your eyes is probably a bad idea. First rule of dreaming is "Everything requires your attention to exist", so you can see why you'd wake up from closing your eyes. Without your focus on your surroundings, they cease to exist, and with no "container" to hold you, you wake up.

Instead of closing your eyes, just reach somewhere you're not looking. Pockets are always a good choice. When I want a sword in my dreams, I can reach behind the couch, or even just reach down to my hip without looking and I always find one. But remember to focus on the sword and what you want to use it for, stare down your enemy while you reach for it. If you want a sword...

I still think people are confusing expectation with intent. Expectations fail you in surprising ways, but intent always wins the day.

What he said. Honestly I've never had a problem with closing my eyes in dreams. That might be because in my first lucid, when I wanted to teleport, and I felt like the dream was gonna fade. I was worried, so I kept them closed for like 8+ seconds, thinking if I opened them I would open my RL eyes. I opened them, and voila, I teleported.

Never had a problem since then. If you just want to summon something, like Cusp said, just don't look and will it to be there. If it's small it's always in your pocket, but that's not to say that you can't take a sword out of your pocket. Lookingu p, and feeling for it on the ground always works for bigger items.

As for teleporting, it you can't do it because of the closed eyes thing, spinning always seems to work, or you could stare at a blank wall or a blank ground or w/e and imagine the whole scene around it (that you're not looking at) changing. Or you could watch Jumper a few times.

Turn around and expect whatever you're summoning to be on the floor behind you, or standing behind you. Works great for food, people, dragons... (:

I strongly suggest not using the closed-eye method anymore; everything in your dream requires your attention to exist, like The Cusp said.
