Veteran lucid dreamer here...Loosing control suddenly.

Well I use to have awesome, vivid, extreme lucid dreams. I'd complete the dream tasks when I wanted to, get spicy when I wanted to, fly when I wanted to. Now it seems every time I try to do ANYTHING in a lucid dream I'm almost instantly awakened, or pushed into a false awakening (in which I think I'm awake, even trying reality checks, I think I'm awake). How do I get my old control back?

Control can be fickle. Give it some time, don't stress over it, and I'm sure things will tighten up post-haste.

You might also want to examine the emotions you're feeling when you get lucid. If you've started having strong feelings of surprise/elation/frustration/whatever, and you didn't before, this could be what's waking you up. Or "waking" you up, as the case might be.

But like Mzzkc said, don't worry and keep at it. We all have dry spells on occasion.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

Thanks Mzzkc, that gives me more hope. Hopefully this crap will end relatively soon!

Samael, thanks as well. I thought about this too, the whole emotions things. I wasn't excited at all, I was just ready to stabilize the dream. The thing is, I'm not having a dry spell, I'm having a wake up spell :'(
