I always seem to lose my lucidity after I become lucid.
A night or two ago I had a nightmareish dream, looked in a mirror, and felt something wrong with my awareness. I was in a dream, bam, lucid.
Alright, so for some reason I spawn a girl, I try to edit the mansion, girl turns all crazy evil, trys to attack me, I close my eyes, spin three times to get new surroundings, and I'm in a new world, and am not lucid.
It's pretty frustrating, any tips on how to work on this?
Early on, when you're first experimenting wiht lucid dreaming, trying to change the entire dreamscene by closing your eyes/spinning etc will often reset the dream to a new envinroment but also reset your mind back to its non-lucid state. First try to build up experinece in controlling your dreams while lucid; summon objects or dream charceters from nothing, or try transforming one object into another etc. As you get better at controlling your dream envinronemnt you will be able to create an entirely new dream without it removing your lucidity
My lucidity is no more than 30 secomds long and I dont know what i should do.
Waking life Time and Dream Time and totally different.
A Dream Second is so much more longer than a Waking Life Second it can be suprising. So if you have 30 seconds in your dream it could be like a second of real life. It was even stated in Waking Life. So getting over excited when you discover your lucid is one of the most commen mistakes made by people just starting.
Staying calm when you find your lucid is key.
When you realize you're dreaming, just stay calm and use all of your senses. Touch everything, notice the sounds and aromas, focus more on sight, even taste something if you want. Lick the wall or anything, it's just a dream anyways. Also, yelling commands works too, the louder the better.
You should also say yourself that you're sleeping, state it for your mind. My last dream was completely realistic yet (almost) completely unlucid.

first you have to stabilise by looking around you and reinforce by also feeling something and hearing and smelling.then you can move on to do what you want.
closing your eyes and spinning is always a bad idea- try not to use it.
I agree, NEVER close your eyes. If you do, NEVER open them, try making them transparent instead.
Closing your eyes isn't a bad idea really, you can use it to beat a nightmare easily if instead of opening, you imagine a new scene.
Anyway, hear thomulf, stop and stabilize, take a good look at the dream, then start trying to control it.
i guess i have to work on my patience... last night i had a ld but i completely blew it. I tried to use all my senses (even tasted stuff :D ), but the clarity and control was still pretty shitty. so i decided (my "awesome" dream brain lol) to go on and explore. then i woke up. i'ma definitely try to use some of ideas from this threat :)
also i think that the last night's nd made quite a powerful effect on me and feelings from it sorta transferred to the ld and messed it up even more. dunno maybe it's normal...
