      Difficulty summoning certain dream character

It's not that I'm new to this.
It's not that I try too hard or don't care enough or don't believe it will happen.
It's just that it never works.
There are certain people I can summon by just thinking of them, some whom I dream at night of by just thinking "I should dream of x tonight, it would be fun" during the day, and then there's her.
No, I'm not in love. It was an attempt to make a, well, a multi-person party. Dionysius style. Since I noticed she just wouldn't show up no matter what I made it my goal to get her to show up. For a month or so, in lucids beyond number. I've come close to a location I've designated where she'd be in my dreams but I always wake up. Also when I was falling asleep once I saw her there, clear as the text you're reading now.
I've dreamed of her before, in non lucids, but something has changed. To put it shortly, we no longer work at the same place. Since I doubt that physical distance would have any real effect on my dreams besides a psychological one, I turn to the beardy sages of Dreamviews for assistance.
I thought that it was odd the first time. So second time I gave it my best shot. Third time, fourth time too. By number ten I already started to expect a failure.
It's not that it doesn't work because I don't believe it will, it's that it didn't work so I don't believe it would. You get it?

      Any help is welcome.

I am far form an expert on any of this. Yes, I've been Lucid and been able to attain certain levels of control in my dreams. But I am nowhere near as experienced as the people who could answer your questions well. And I doubt I am even as much of a veteran as you seem. But I have been reading a lot, and I came across a method that may work. In the thread, it talked about coming up with a reason they would be there. It seems as though you have tried this, but perhaps you were only willing their presence. You said it is a party setting? Maybe this person you want to be there was invited by a friend you know will be there. And when you open the door for said friend, the person you wanted to be there will be with them. Or maybe if you know a place where you would expect her to be, you could go there, expecting to see her. And once you find her, you could build the party setting from there? I don't know, but I hope this helps.

Good luck to you. Keep trying, don't give up, and most of all, believe. I'm sure you'll accomplish your goal.

"It's not that it doesn't work because I don't believe it will, it's that it didn't work so I don't believe it would."
      --you.

I get what you mean, maybe, but forgive me when I say it doesn't make much sense. If a) is true, then b) seems unlikely considering it assumes the exact opposite is true. ...Right?

The only "help" I might offer would be to point that out. Maybe it is that you "don't believe it will happen" afterall, because "It's just that it never works".

If it's worked for you before for "certain people"--your words--then "never works" seems a little inaccurate.

My humble suggestion would be to evaluate any reasons this person is different from those you've summoned before, how your own feelings may influence your ability with them in particular, etc. If it's something you can point to, I'd say that's a fine clue.

I sincerely hope that helps in some way.

Yes, I can see how my statement doesn't make much sense. I was trying to say that I had faith but lost it after several failed attempts. Perhaps I should have worded it differently?
Anyways thanks for the advice people. I guess it's time to try again.

well... i have gone through this same thing... and it still happens occasionally with a girl that i was completely obsessed with... and come to think of it i may have made a thread like this a long time ago very similar.... maybe im a bearded dv person now?
anyways, i can say for sure that the biggest problem that i have had in dreams in general is that i have always tried too hard. does that make sense? i thought too much about lucid dreaming.. or i thought too much about a certain girl, or a certain situation etc etc that i believe i set up a psychological block for myself. once i realized this i calmed down and just started taking things as they went. then my ld's went up, as well as my control, and i was able to summon this one particular girl.... so i hope this helps... let me know what happens or if you have any questions and we will see what i can attempt to do.

I seem to be having the same issue. I can't summon DCs anymore. I once (yeeeaars ago, in a DILD) summoned Capt Jack Sparrow (the character, not Johnny Depp the actor). Maybe it was because I was already near water and thought it'd be cool to meet Jack Sparrow. I turn around and there he was, Black Pearl and all.

Now that I'm actually into LDing, I can't seem to summon anyone anymore I tried summoning Nito89 as part of a challenge between us, but failed. My friend thought it might be because Jack Sparrow is a fictional character, as opposed to Nito, who is a real person. So I'm going to try to summon Lucius Malfoy (from the Harry Potter books/films).

I thought I was trying too hard for that one particular person (let's call him C.), so in my last lucid, I randomly decided to summon James May (presenter of BBC's Top Gear), which made sense to me as I was in England in that dream. (Two out of my three WILDs were in England, incidentally) But that failed too It's not like I had thought about Top Gear or James, it just randomly occurred to me in the Lucid.
