      Lucidity and Blackness

I've been having this problem for months (ever since I started trying to lucid dream):

I have no problem with initiating a lucid dream any more, I just realize at some point while I'm sleeping that I can sit up out of my body.

The problem is, everything is pitch black. When I try to open my eyes (if that's the problem) I feel like I'm opening them in real life. I'm starting to wonder if this is REALLY the case, as I have rarely bothered to reality-check afterward, which might be my major error here.

In any case, I've tried focusing on specks of light and expanding them (doesn't do any good besides producing random sparks and some weird ghost images), I've tried spinning, I've tried any number of things. It doesn't seem to matter, everything is always black. Now one of the odd things is that if I stop and listen, I can hear beautiful music, and this will go on for as long as I focus on it. I've listened to several "songs" this way, although they weren't anything I'd ever heard.

The only thing that seems to help is getting away from my dream-body and out into the hallway, where I start to regain my vision, but I never seem to think about this at the appropriate time, and while I'm close to my body in the dream, it feels like I'm moving through molasses. This used to scare me - I'd panic and try to wake myself up, then wake up in my paralyzed body (hooray, sleep paralysis) and be frightened while I tried to regain control of my limbs. I've been getting better about not doing this. In any case, when you're in a situation where every second counts, not being able to move well can be a huge hurdle.

Has anybody encountered this problem, and how did you solve it?

Have you tried feeling around for things? maybe getting a feel for whats around you can return your vision in your dream.

But ive read in another post that this used to happen to some guy but he would get up into the air and fly as fast as he can and try to rip through the blackness and it worked.

no offense silver, but how can he fly if he cant move well. Very good suggestion however, concentrate on what you're feeling, one time i did, and SNAp it was much clearer (I hadnt even realised how fuzzy it was before then)
when i have a lucid dream the first thing I will do isorder a pizza.

      PIZZA
      pizza is sacred.
