Dream Powers
I'd thought I'd make a tutorial on 'powers' or 'effects' you can do in your dreams. So here it is.
------------------------------------------------------------------
When in a Lucid Dream you need to remember you have complete control (you should anyway). So most people want to use magic powers like making a ball float, setting things on fire, etc. But, you have some that complain that they wake up when trying to do these things. It's probably because you 1. focus to much 2. don't know what the effect should look like, or 3. you aren't an experienced lucid dreamer.
Anyway, here are some tips on using powers.
Making things appear.
This power is one of the easiest things to do, and could (if you would like) be used as a reality check. To do this just simply think to yourself for example "ball" and if needed repeat over and over again, without focusing too much on it, and it should appear. To make things disappear do the exact opposite.
Making objects float.
I don't do this much because I have never found the need to. But the way I do it is toss the object in the air and think "levitate" and that usually makes it float for me.
Flying.
This is one of my favorite things to do because, in my opinion, it's a great experience. But anyway, there are many techniques on how people do this. But the way I do it is the easiest for me. [You may have to try different techniques to figure out which is best for you, or just create your own]
What I do is first think to myself, "I'm going to fly". Then right after I process that thought I take off running as fast as possible, and right before I feel myself starting to slow down, I jump. Right after the jump I stick my arms straight out like Superman until I'm high enough off the ground, then I put my arms in a comfortable position. To land I position my body in the stand up position, and usually I start falling right before I hit the ground I crouch down and take the impact. [This usually makes a gaping whole in the ground, but it's not hard to get out of]
Producing Lightning.
I get a lot of complaints on this from friends. They say every time they attempt producing lightning they wake up. It's because for some reason the say it takes a lot of focus. But I don't find that to be true.
The technique I use is probably a little different from some, because I don't start off thinking lightning. I treat it as if it is a real super power.
First thing I do is focusing on the blood running through my body (dream & real body) and I focus on all of the heat around me. I then focus on the blood rushing to my finger tips and I start to feel them heat up, slowly they start to spark, then I point at something and ZAP, the lightning just shoots out. That's all I could really explain so it would make sense. But I really recommend trying it.
More will be added to this if people would like. But for now this is all.
(Note the is mostly for beginners & people who are having trouble with these things)

I really appreciate this short guide you've added! I'm aware of the powers you can use, but I've never really found a guide that details the actions and feelings you should have when attempting them. When I first tried to fly I was helpless, I kept attempting different things until I found out how to fly and now I'm a natural. Same with other abilities. I'm really interested in trying to produce lightning.
I (and I'm sure other people) would really appreciate it if you added some more to this list! I have a special request: telekinesis. I've read that some people just visualize it and others somehow "lock on" to their target. What way works best for you? Also, adding some more obscure powers that aren't so common (like lightning) would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your work.

The reason some people arn't as good at dream control as others is just some people are naturaly beter at it than others although anyone can develop it with some practice. You just need will power and a good idea on what it is your trieng to do. You should have mentioned that belief and expectation is the most important thing when controling your dreams. If you don't belive and or expect that you are going to succed then you wont. I find that it is easier and much more satisfieng to experiment and come up with your own techniques because different techniques work differently for different people. Its great though to take inspiration from other peopls techniques and things you see in movies. It will make it alot easier to do. If something dosn't work for you at first keep practicing it and eventualy you will get the hang of it.
As for waking up when doing these things I think it has more to do with forgeting to maintain the stability of the dream and having less attention to the dream world. The beter you are at staying in lucid dreams in general is what will keep you from waking up.
I think you should refrase some of your powers.
I think summoning is a much beter term for "making things appear".
Telekinesis is probably what you mean by "making things float" allthough it is a bit broader and some depending on your technique might not really be telekinesis. In telekinesis you move objects around using your mind, including lifting them off the ground and making them float. I have gotten pretty good at it and I basicly move my hands like they do in star wars and focus on the object moving.
Electrokinesis is what I call "producing lighting". It is one of the first powers I tried and my "energy" based powers which I use for lots of things like teleportation, sumoning, combat ect started out with electrokinesis. I use a similar technique as yours except instead of the blood I focus on the feeling of moving chi.
There are a lot more powers you could say but its best for people to be creative so think up some techniques of your own. There is a very good dream control tutorial in the tutorial section too.

Thanks for the guide. I've been having trouble with flying lately for some reason. =/ Will try your technique tonight though.

this is a great little guide and I would love if you added some more to it.

I can see only a million huge problems with the direction this is going in.
