      Weird Problem

Hey, I just have a quick question I need to ask.

Sometimes when I become lucid, I tell people I am dreaming and my proof, which is when the problem usually starts up. Sometimes it happens when I just become lucid, though. Anyway, sometimes something comes up behind me or beside me and just attacks me, which scares me and wakes me up. The two times out of many that I have been able to see it it was an almost invisible form and another time a German Shepard. It just tries to attack me, then I wake up.

Any ideas as to how to combat this? If you can think of a decent DEILD escape plan that would help, too, as I am very good at DEILDs.

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong area, I wasn't sure where to put it. Feel free to move it if you need to.

How conscious were you when you became lucid and the DC attacked you? If you're lucid enough, usually you wouldn't wake up because you know strongly that the DC isn't real, and nothing can hurt you. If you were only semi-lucid, it's a different story - you might in fact become afraid. Maybe work more on awareness.

Another thing you should do is know that you have complete control. You should be able to hold your hand out and shout "STOP!" to the DC, and expect them to stop. You should envision what they'll look like as you do this, and what they'll do, so the expectation is able to be realized more clearly by the dream. Good luck

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

That doesn't really help, but I can't blame you because I didn't quite elaborate enough. It happens VERY suddenly, so I only have a second or two to do something. Since it is so sudden, I have very little chance to realize what is happening right away and stop whatever emotions from hitting me. It is also usually from behind or very close to my side, so I can't put out my hand and whatnot. Plus, I have bad control anyway, so I'm not sure what would happen if I did that. If you could think of some DEILD escape route that would help, though. Like exit the dream, go someplace else, repeat a few times, &c, but I'm not in the mood to think of any escape routes, so I'm open for any suggestions. Thanks anyway.

This may sound a bit simplistic...but try not telling your DCs that you're dreaming.

Obviously for some reason you've has hooked onto the idea that you should be woken up when you tell a DC that you're dreaming, and your sleeping brain brings it about by sending something to jolt you awake. So I'm guessing even if you willed yourself into a suit of armor or in a force field you'd still get woken up if you're partially lucid.

But as Puffin said, if you're fully lucid and used to the sensation you should be able to put a stop to the attack.

Ha, your first suggestion works most of the time, I just need something for when it actually happens.

At your last comment, like I said, it happens too quick to stop the awakening without some VERY fast thinking and DEILDing. Haven't managed to do that yet.

      Thanks anyway!
