      degrees of lucidity

      Hey guys,
I just had my 3rd LD last night by the way of a DILD.
The first 2 LDs I had I didn't have to stabilize my dream and I could fly and do most anything. The one from last night I decided right when I became lucid to stabilize anyway so I rubbed a couch and checked out my surroundings...after I did this I tried flying and basically couldn't. It was a real struggle to get off the ground at all, I also tried a few other things I had done before as ease but couldn't do them either.
Could there be a simple reason these aren't working for me now or is it just that dreams are so different from dream to dream?

      Thanks in advance!

Well, as long as you're aware that you're dreaming you can call it a lucid. But there's varying levels of consciousness. In one lucid, you may be almost as conscious as you are in real life, but in another you might only be vaguely aware that you're dreaming. It sounds like you just had poor dream control, or you weren't in the proper mindset.

You have to be 100% sure you'll be able to fly away. If you imagine what it'll feel like to suddenly accelerate and go through the air, and mentally think about an explanation as to how you're able to fly, it'll be much easier.

Like you said, dreams can definitely be different each time around, so be sure to employ your best dream control practices in order to combat poor control.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

During a WILD I had this morning I noticed that flying was more difficult, I guess because you think more logically. My idea of overcoming this is saying that you have superpowers or something like that as a kind of way to give your mind a reason why you can fly, and why physics do not apply, untill you do this enough that your mind automatically assumes that you can fly because in dreams you have superpowers, or whatever.

Superpowers is a good strategy. Every time I become lucid, I automatically assume myself as a character who's been endowed with [insert skill here].

The most stable, clear and vivid lucid I had, came with 0 control. It was too real, and even though I failed two RC's, I couldn't fly. Even though it was an awesome dream, I woke up feeling sad. I thought I had lost all my powers. But the next time I got lucid, I could fly like usual.

      It's a bit random, but you'll learn!
