WILD Attempts Increase the Chances of Random Sleep Paralysis

Has anyone else had this happen? I woke up around 5 times randomly throughout the night today. A couple of those times I was in light sleep paralysis, with that full-body vibration accompanied with WILD attempts. Another time I woke up during the night, I was in full-fledged sleep paralysis. There were maybe light hypnopompic hallucinations. It was a strange experience; it's the first time I remember it happening it to me, so I figured it was probably a lucid dream. I tried moving but my body was completely paralyzed. After my eyes were open for about 15 seconds I felt the vibrations that occur in the onset of sleep paralysis, then I started moving and looked at my alarm clock to do reality checks, and I determined I was awake.

The reason why I'm posting this is because I've never had this type of phenomena occur before I learned about lucid dreaming. It seems as though my WILD attempts have spurred these events through the familiarization of sleep paralysis. What do you guys think?

It seems to happen to me as well. Perhaps it always happens, like your arm falling asleep, but now we actually know what it is so we notice it?

From the first WILD attempt I did to my last one, I personally didn't notice an increase in natural SP episodes.

Do you take more naps during the day? Lack of sleep? Stress?

All of these can cause SP, and the first two and maybe the third can be the result of WILD attempts

Yes, random sleep paralysis does seem to happen when I don't get a full night's rest, but I've always been the type of sleeper that randomly wakes up multiple times throughout the night. Only recently have I been experiencing sleep paralysis. The only time it happens to me is when I wake up in the middle of the night, or the early morning. I don't recall ever having experienced sleep paralysis when I wake up to get out of bed in the morning. Therefore the only factor that seems to be causing this is waking up multiple times throughout the night. It doesn't happen all the time, but it has recently been happening frequently since I've had a fever for the past three days.
I'm going to attempt a DEILD next time I wake up in sleep paralysis. If I'm completely paralyzed, maybe I'll be able to break this dry spell and have my first DEILD. :)

Goldenaxel, I'm going to assume that I would probably remember having experienced sleep paralysis before learning about lucid dreaming. It's a very intense feeling if you're conscious when it sets in, so I doubt I would have forgotten about it. Also, does sleep paralysis occur to you when you wake up in the middle of the night? If not, when?

Puffin, do you often wake up randomly throughout the night? I'm thinking this might only occur with people who have trouble staying asleep throughout the night.


For the record, I have been increasing my caffeine intake recently in preparation for a Caffeine Addiction Initiated Lucid Dream, so that might be contributing to my experiences.

I don't remember ever having had those types of dreams, Jay. But then again, my dream recall is pretty horrible.
