      Clarity Problems

well last night was my first attempt ever at lucid dreaming and i have to say i was suprised that it actually worked. i drank 4 glasses of milk and ate a bowl of cheese, went to the bathroom, and listened to the reallys ultimate lucid mp3. I then went to sleep and remember only one things but it is very foggy. I remember do a reality check just like in the guides, my hands didnt seem right, my fingers where the wrong shape and i had to many and also i could push my fingers through my palms. But everytime i dream its almost like its just happening and im not even paying full attention like im just kind of there. is this because im so used to ignoring my dreams? So basically i was wondering if there was any way i could make my dreams more clear and vivid. would a seditive be usefull? i was thinking melatonin maybe.

      -thanks

If you're in the lucid dream and need to make it more vivid, you can just shout "CLEARITY, PLEASE". Or you can touch an object and feel it's texture, or rub your hands togeather.

Practicing visualizing while meditating can boost your visualization skills, and these carry on to dreams.

You can also practice being more observant by getting a picture, looking at it, and trying to observe every detail.

Using vitamens, like vitamen B6 is also said to produce more vivid dreams.

For me, it just came down to experience.

The more LDs I had, the clearer and clearer each consecutive one was.

I find it important to take time in the beginning of the dream to stabilize it. I figured time spent on stabilizing the dream is never lost. My LD's are usually longer when I stabilize them properly.
I do it by watching detail on my hands, but I guess it's a matter of preference.
I also agree that dreams become more vivid with experience. Dream journal helps a lot with that as well.

As for chemicals, that's about the last thing I'd think of as a newbie Oneironaut. If you want to go that route, just eat mushrooms or LSD, will work just fine, and you don't even need to practice LD anymore.

here's what I do that works perfectly for me...
At first,Id stabilize my dream...I use vocal commands like "Increase Clarity" and look at my hands, paying attention to every detail I can find...
After a while,ur dream might be a little less vivid...to get back its vividness look at your hands then rub them together or spin around...
My only advice, dont overuse the techniques, otherwise, their effects will be weaker...
      Hope it helps,
      -sam
The idea is to remain in a constant state of departure while always arriving..

I'm also having similar problems with my field of vision. At least five times I have become conscious that I'm dreaming, only to find out my FOV to be extremely narrow. If I rub my hands together it will expand, but then the detail level is bad and objects can freely change even when they should be visible. If I try to expand my FOV by looking around or looking at details, I will get stressed and wake up. If accept having a narrow or imperfect vision, I will be able to continue the dream and even control it to some extent.
