Experiences with the 'spinning' and 'hand rub' method. And How to escape a dream?

Today after waking I went almost straight back to sleep, concentrating on achieving lucidity. I did, though i was not in control of the contents of the dream, and could not make things materialize at will.

When I started to lose lucidity, I remembered the spinning and hand rubbing method. In fact, I decided to try both simultaneously. This worked so well that I became trapped in what seemed like hours of lucid dreams, including about 5 false awakenings. The physical sensation of being pulled back into the dreamworld when using both methods was quite overwhelming, bordering on unpleasant. I would not recommend doing both methods at once.

I kept having false awakenings, doing a digital watch reality check, discovering I was still dreaming but having no way to escape. I was not scared so much as annoyed after a while. I tried holding my nose in the dream but it didnt wake me up.

Anyone have any tips to wake from a false awakening once you know that's what it is?

I'm Not Extremely Understanding what you're Asking here, But, Try Closing your eyes and opening them really wide and hard And it should wake you up.

In a dream when you are trying to materialize something, it may be a common misconception to just will it fast and it should be there, sometimes that does not work, try doing it slowly and prolonging the concentration on it. That should work.

The opening your eyes trick is good, but if it does not work, just sit there and say "wake up".

The opening eyes thing works for me, about 90% of the time. However, I have had a few spells where I have become "trapped" in multiple false awakenings (one, in particular, that spanned for about 10-12 consecutive FA's). I think it might have to do with how fast asleep you are, at the time that you're trying to wake up, but that's just a shot in the dark.

But yeah, it's not always just like "opening my eyes." While I'm preparing to open them, I have to somewhat "shift" my awareness to my waking world eyes, and not just my dream eyes. I have to be confident that the pair of eyes I'm going to be opening is the pair that is actually going to open my eyes in waking life. I believe this gets easier, over time, once you're able to become a little more familiar with that feeling.

I've found that it usually wakes me up if I try to scream in real life. I've never been able to actually do it, it always just wakes me up. Otherwise I wouldn't try it because no one wants to wake up actually screaming. It just makes me very aware of my sleeping body and the disconnect between the two. When you become aware that your body is not responding, your mind tries to remedy the disconnect by fixing it, therefore waking you up. I'm sure the same could be achieved from many variations of attempted physical movement, but there's something about the intensity involved with a scream that never fails to wake me up. But if you're one of those people who talk in their sleep or something I wouldn't recommend it. :P Just try it if opening your eyes doesn't do the trick.

Falling always lands me in a false awakening.
