Question FIRST Lucid Dream. need help.

Okay, so I think I unintentionally performed a WILD this morning. I slept around 1:30am last night and I had to wake up around 7:40am because I had discussion for my geology class at 8.

Turns out I already did what I needed to do for the class so I was able to leave early. Before I went back to my dorm, I grabbed a latte from Coffee Bean, and it was about 8:45 when I got back.

I laid on my bed, relaxing myself, and then after a while I realized I was having my first lucid dream. I've always wanted to have one so I guess having one at that time got me way excited, however I was able to control some of the things happening in my dream, then I "woke up," did a RC, then after that I was in my bed again, couldn't move, loud and deep vibrating sound going through my head, then I hear this little kid laughing. Definitely scared the sh*t out of me. I tried waking up, then I panicked when I realized I couldn't move, even though I knew I wouldn't have been able to move anyway, I kept trying to force myself to wake up.

Eventually I was awake and my heart was pounding fast and I was just "WTF?" by that experience.

Can I get some feedback on how I should have handled this whole situation please. I really want to have another lucid dream again. Thankssss.

Well you had Sleep Paralysis. It can be quite frightening if you don't know what it is. What I would do is go do some research about Sleep Paralysis and WILD's. I can understand how scary SP can be, I had a pretty freaky episode last night. Just remember, nothing can hurt you, no matter how loud or bright, or evil anything seems, it's all a natural stage in entering dreams. Nowadays I simply see Sleep Paralysis as a portal into the dreamworld (figuratively speaking of course), and have positive feelings about it. Just relax.

Congrats on your LD though, it's impressive that you didn't wake up. There will be plenty more to come, don't worry. Just always stay calm, whether it's within the excitement of a Lucid Dream, or the intensity and fear of Sleep Paralysis. Try to calmly enjoy these things.

      Good Luck!
The Key is to combine your waking rational abilities with the infinite possibilities of your dreams, because if you can do that, you can do anything.

There's not much you can really do. Just stay calm.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

I've had that, but not that scary stuff like kids laughing o.O
When I have sleep paralysis, I try to move my fingers and toes and it wakes me up. Just keep doing it, until you do.

caffeine can be helpful with dreaming, but it can also make your mind race a bit which can be unstabilising. also having a racing mind will allow the thoughts that you may not want to focus on to come through. this could be an explanation for the uneasy parts of it so you may want to look into that. a steady mind will be far more able to be in control in the dreamstate and reality. some people find caffeine can help induce sleep paralysis too, and i have had strange dream paralysis episodes with coffee. other than that great stuff congratulations on your first ld! wbtb really is a great technique...oh to be back at college and going back to bed after a morning lecture.......
