It seems like my mind is flipping me off whenever I try to do anything cool in my LDs

Hey all, I am rather new to the world of lucid dreaming (became interested in august), and I find myself lucky in the fact that I have had almost 40 lucid dreams since I've started. I see many people on this site who have been trying for several years and haven't had anything - my regards to them!

Although my quantity of LDs is great, My average LD quality is disappointing. Earlier on, I've had LDs where I've flown, had sex, scuba dived, done drugs and created portals. But recently, my LD control has been horrendous. Here are four quick examples from lucid dreams I've had these last few nights.

      1. I am in the woods with some blonde girl. A dream goal of mine is to fight zombies, so we are holding rifles and looking for them. We come to a bridge over a stream and on the other side of it is a muscular, bearded man with a parka. I know he means to sabotage the dream. He says to us, "Put down your weapons or I'll make the loudest noise you'll ever hear!". We try to shoot at him but we can't even pull the triggers. The dream gets incredibly hazy, I get dizzy, and fall off the bridge into the water. As I am in the water, he releases an ear-shattering scream and I wake up.

      2. I have a dream goal in which I play something incredibly awesome on the guitar. I pick up an acoustic guitar and start to play. I am unable to play more than simple chords such as C major and A minor, even though I am convinced that I'll be able to play something awesome since I'm dreaming.

      3. I am with my girlfriend in the front yard of my old home. We both jump up into the air and start to fly. About 20 feet up, we freeze in the air and are unable to fly anymore, no matter what I try to do.

      4. I stand in front of a door to a room and think, "There will be a hot girl behind this door and I will make love to her". I walk into the room and find two of my guy friends having freakin' man sex on a couch!

It seems like my mind is working against me. When I try to do anything cool in lucid dreams, its like my mind is giving me the birdie and saying, "oh no you don't!". What seems to be the problem here? Perhaps I unconsciously don't have much confidence in my abilities in lucid dreams? Does anybody have recommendations for solutions?

But back to your problem. Perhaps in your subconscious, you kinda know/expect it to fail because you're on a "fail-streak", you're scared that weird things will happend that will f*ck up your dream?
I'd say just try not to think worry about it to much, just expect it to be just like you wanted, no weird things attached, be confident in your skills, because we know you have them

Instead of trying to do things just let the dream flow for a while, you can dream all your life so theres no need to rush through it. Try becoming friends with the dream itself and ask it to show you something amazing.

"For a long time it gave me nightmares, having to witness an injustice like that. It was a constant reminder of how unfair this world can be, I can still hear them taunting him. 'Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!'... How come they just couldn't give him some cereal?"

Thanks guys, good reminders. In my earlier lucid dreams, I've been so awestruck and have paid so much attention to sight, hearing, and touch that I stay in the dream much longer. In these recent lucid dreams it seems like I'm racing against my mind because I think I'll wake up (which of course, causes the dream to fade much quicker). I'll simply try taking a stroll the next lucid dream I have.

Well maybe you should have just thrown down your weapons... I mean he did warn you

Anyway, the same thing has been happening to me lately. I tried to summon a lover in my shower and my freaken sister appeared. Followed by a manakin of a civil war soldier. It was really weird, and not very arousing to say the least.
