Wink Getting rid of annoying characters

      Hi,

What do you do get rid of disruptive or annoying dream characters?

I have been lately attacked by dogs or bats, and when wanting to spend some "quality time" with a lady, I have been disturbed either by her mother or her child.

From the animals, I ran away (casting spells on the bat did not work), and the child I was actually able to convince to go out and play. I wonder what would work on the mother: telling that there is a sale of shoes in a nearby supermarket, or inviting her to join?

I wonder that in general, how you should relate to the requests your dream characters are giving you? Should you always try to ignore them, or is there any reason to try to comply with them?

This has always worked for me:

Me - "Leave me alone or else you'll never be allowed in my dreams again!"
      Them - "Okay, sorry."

You have to really expect them to say that and walk away feeling guilty.

Or, you can always turn away and then look back, expecting them to be gone.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      good idea :3.
Sending a command with the expectation for them to go will work quite well. It's all about belief and certainty.

      Good luck tiger xD

Some people believe it's some sort of part of you that has a deeper meaning (read that in Gateway to the Inner Self) and that it needs to be confronted or something like that xD
But I agree it's funnier to throw fire balls or stuff at them

Thank you for the insights. The suggested options seem to be authority and brute force, and it seems that I cannot do either one very well. Maybe it's because I still think dream people are real on some level, especially if they resemble some real friends for example.

I'm really unwilling to use brute force on anyone except video game monsters, or characters who behave aggressively. I'm not sure what would actually happen if I started to bash innocent dream people - probably I'd just wake up feeling very guilty.

Authority then... well I got to the "mother of the girl" scene again, this time her telling me that I should not disturb her daughter since she is studying very hard. This is even worse since it directly appeals to my reasoning, and even if I told the disturbing character to stay out, I would still keep the guilty feeling.

Any hints on how to proceed? Should I just visualize the outcome more carefully before I open a door or make a telephone call? How did you actually gain control/authority over your dream characters on the first place?

Ignore them, completely and utterly. They'll cease to exist of their own accord.

If you find yourself having trouble doing this, find a distraction, and pour all your attention into it. That'll have the same effect.

Yep. Everything requires your attention to exist in dreams. Trying to fight or reason with your dream characters forces you to pour your attention into them, which keeps them around and makes them more real. Ignore them into oblivion!

I use a next method to get rid of annoying characters: if someone annoys me I just pull him/her into my hand's palm thinking that everything in dream is created from oneirum (dream materia) which I can freely manipulate. This method is also good for testing "realness" of DCs.

hahaha that's a good one, I gotta remember that! I've had a few lucid dreams where unwanted characters show up, and if i get frustrated and tell them to go away, my frustration usually manifests into something else in the dream and I lose lucidity due to my emotional distress/disruption.
