      Plagued by false awakenings!

Whenever I do get lucid, (which hasn't been much recently) , I always seem to feel the dream slipping away really quickly and then I 'wake up', except I realise later that I hadn't woken up, it was still in the dream. But I never seem to realise this when it's actually happening. It's really frustrating that when I do get lucid it goes so quickly.

Make sure you always stabilize whenever you become lucid. It'll help you maintain the dream better. And on top of all of that you should get in the habit of RCing when ever you find yourself waking up. Personally I don't have that many FA's at all, but I know they can be turned into a very positive thing once someone becomes consistently aware of them.

it sounds like your excitment is causing you to slip away from the dream. I used to use a trick of feeling something in the dream, the tactile sensation helped me remain focused on that dream and stay away from the FA,

I do recall one set of dreams with 4 FA, it was very uncomfortable as the heigher I got the less dream signs there were until on the last level it was just like normal reality . Scary stuff, trust me I look at inception with a whole new light

I tend to have found that FA's can be caused by much the same factors as actual awakening. Make sure you stay as mentally cool and calm as possible when you become lucid, and stabilize immediately.
