Dream Stabalization not Working for me

So, the last couple of mornings I have been having lucid dreams. In the dream, I wake up in my bed room and realize that I am dreaming, but the dream is already starting to fade. So what do I do? I try the focusing techniques that I have heard of on this and other forums. I start off by rubbing my hands. I then take a breathe of fresh air, try and take in the smells. The dream gets a little clearer, but still feels like its fading. So, what do I do next? I look out my window. I open the blinds, and then I stare directly at the sun. After this I'm positive I have stabilized the dream enough. So, I start to head out my bedroom door to begin my dream, and at that moment, I wake up.:P

This has been happening the last four times I've initiated a WILD. I keep trying different techniques. I even tried washing my hands and going to the bathroom! any tips? What Am I doing wrong?

Those never work for me either, the best way to stabilize is shutting off your internal dialog. It takes lots of practice, but it works. Also, focusing on one object in the dream too much can make everything change or fade.

Oh ya, don't know if this is a coincidence or not, but when I fell asleep last night with some music in the background, my dreams happened to be super vivid.

Interesting, I must try this. :)I imagine it must influence the content of your dreams as well. I remember one non-lucid I had. My brother was snoring in the background. It turned all my dream characters into demon possessed zombies who chanted monotone curses.:shock:

That's probably it. My mind is always racing when I enter a lucid dream.

when yo go lucid and are close to waking up you will feel your real body in bed ( or where ever you happen to be sleeping)

what ever you do, dont focus on it , instead focus on the dream.

Dont stress this part, you are going to wake up from lucid dreams a lot and depending where you are in the REM cycle you have a better or worse chance of keeping stable.

instead, try the following over a course of a few lucid dreams, dont rush it and remember that the more you practice this skill, the longer and longer your lucid dreams will be.

When you obtain lucidity speak out loud, say "I am dreaming, my world is stable and I am calm" reach out and touch something and really feel it, say the ground. How does it feel under your hands, is it warm or cold, soft or hard, really engage yourself in the dream. This is a form of stabilization and works wonders.

When you are awake, take some time out each day, and visualise yourself finding out you are dreaming, when this happens take a deep breath, relax your body and mind and say to yourself, "When I realize I am dreaming my dream world becomes stable "

Think of lucid dreaming through two sides.
1. the visualize while you are awake that prepares you for sleep.
2. the actual feeling while you are in a lucid dream.

Work on them both and you will see the benefits.
