How lucid can you get?

Hi, I've had many lucid dreams but they've mostly been low level ones. Some of them have been a few minutes long and quite vivid but I always feel like I'm walking around in a daze. It's like the equivalent of being really really drunk in real life and out of it. I remember some of my dream goals but it's more like because I've programmed myself before sleep to remember them, not that I'm really aware in the dream. I feel in control of the dream but not in control of myself if that makes any sense at all. I just want someone to say that it is possible to have a really amazing lucid dream that's at least 20 minutes long and super vivid and you are super aware and it's just like real life or better.

I know that anything is possible in a lucid dream but mine just don't seem that good and I've been trying for a good few years with over 200 lucid dreams. I use Galantamine a lot and this does improve my lucid rate and give very vivid and long dreams but I still don't feel fully "lucid" and in control.

I'm happy I can lucid dream at all and I've had some great lucids, but I just always felt like there would be more to it and I'm a bit disappointed with it in a way. Am I expecting too much or are exceptionally long/vivid lucid dreams possible where you are totally in control as you are in real life? Thanks.

I have had lots of partially lucid dreams. In these I don't often remember my lucid dream goals, I don't think very clearly, and I'm easily distracted.
But I've also had fully lucid dreams. In these I think and feel exactly as I do when awake. These are the best kind of lucid dreams.

I have had the exact same experience. Mostly dreams where I'm easily distracted and drift out of being lucid with only a couple fully lucid and sharply vivid. I'm going to try the peanut butter and banana trick before bed tonight and see if it helps...

That's great, it gives me some hope. How did these lucids come about-were they from WILDs or DEILDs or just regular DILDs? Almost all of my lucid dreams have been DILDs and I'm wondering if that's why they aren't so great. I'm working on WILDs as it seems that these would give much greater clarity and control since it's a transition straight from waking. I hope this is the case.

Some of my fully lucid dreams have been from DILD.
WILDs do seem more likely to produce highly conscious dreams. I have had a few successful WILDs and those have been some of my best lucid dreams.
