5 nights, 3 successful reality checks...no control yet

I've been working on LD'ing for about two weeks now. The past five nights I've had three successful reality checks in my dreams and became lucid. The only problem is, it doesnt seem like I'm getting a chance to stabilize the dream. I've been using the finger through the palm RC and it has worked well, every time it works and I realize I'm dreaming. I just havent yet been able to keep myself from waking up yet. I've read a lot about dream control, and have tried to stay calm and just use all of my senses and feel my dream world around me...but the dreams not really giving me a chance to do so. Its seems like as soon as I do the RC, I'm awake before I can put my hands down to even do anything. However, it does seem like my brain is becoming more and more aware to perform reality checks in-dream, as I had no results my first 8-9 days, and now I've had three RC's in the past 5 nights.

I am noticing a pattern, however it may be too early to tell. But it seems like I will do an RC and become lucid one night, then the next night I wont and will just have normal dreams, then the next night I'll have an RC again.

Any idea of what I'm doing wrong or what the problem might be?

I don't see a problem. You seem pretty new at this so you are making really good progress then. If this streak keeps up you will be flying through walls in no time. But I will tell you something that helped me when I couldn't keep a dream going. You ever see that movie Crank? Where the main character had to keep his adrenaline going to stay alive? Well early on it was a bit like that for me. I had to keep moving and doing stuff relatively active or I would doze off and loose lucidity.

Thanks for the encouragement man I might try that tonight if I get an RC. I've been trying to stay calm, but this time as soon as I realize it I might try and start running or punching something close to me. Im not sure of the initial activeness would help me stabilize it, or make me wake up, but I'll for sure give it a shot.

Well the key is to keep stimulation going. Not necessarily active. A tip I used from someone on the forums that helped me out greatly last night was rub your hands together and really pay attention to how it feels when you are doing relatively nothing. Helped prolong my dream to about 30 minutes.
