About a year ago I became interested in experiencing lucid dreams, however it never worked for me, so I just gave up.
But recently I've been having them without even trying. At least, I assume they are, as when I have them I can experience my dream and the noises in it become as loud as they would in real life, and I regain my normal thoughts and mind, and I can "talk" to myself like normal (I hope I'm not the only one who does that).
But my dreams have always been incredibly weird, and all of the ones I remember were nightmares (for some reason I never remember happy dreams, if I have them). So of course the same happens when I lucid dream.
The first thing that happens is that I hear a weird sound. It's usually something that scares me, such as ghostlike whispers, what sounds like music being played backwards, or some other creepy sound. Then I start falling into a dark abyss, which by them I am either trying to force myself to wake up (which takes quite a while) or I am trying to imagine something to make me less frightened and to calm me down, because I know that the further I fall down the abyss, the scarier the dream will become. But when I try to imagine the comforting things, they quickly become something scary (For example, I'll dream of my boyfriend. He'll be there for a couple of seconds, but then he'll turn into a black, misty demon with red eyes who wants to kill me). No matter what, these dreams always seem to incorporate the things that frighten me the most.
I usually force myself to wake up, and then I have to stay up, otherwise I'll have another lucid dream [nightmare]. I'm tired of it. So I'm going to attempt to take control.
Any advice on how to turn these into something other than nightmares?
