Problems with leaving an area in my lucid dreams.

To be breif and to the point, the last two times I have had a lucid dream my subconcious has pretty much threw me into unescapible situations, ruining my lucid experience.
Last night I was dreaming that I was in a public restroom washing my hands when I became lucid. When I turned around however, the bathroom had turned into a laberenth of stalls, sinks, and urinals. I wanted to get out of there and experience other aspects of the dream world, but I couldent get out of that god forsaken lavatory for the life of me. I even asked a DC if he could point me to the exit. He pointed me to a stall door, but when I opened it (fully expecting to see the outside world) I was greeted by nothing more than a partuicularly offencive looking toilet.
I'll spare you the details of the other lucid dream I had, but it's the same basic idea. I become lucid, and then my dream locks me down into my surroundings. Im usually unable to exersize very much dream controle, which is strange because I use to have complete and utter control of my dreams. Any help would be appriciated :D

I have this problem a lot too it's quite annoying. Like you said regaining and practicing your dream control again would be a good place to start. Another way is to get creative in the ways in which you could escape the labyrinth. Dream control is the main part of this but some of the things I try are to look for windows that have the outside on the other side, ask DC's to create a path for me to the outside or take me to an exit, phase through walls expecting to be where you wanted when you come out on the other side, this is hard to explain but like passing your hand over your dream eyes or closing your dream eyes then as your hand passes by or you open your dream eyes you are where you wanted to be. Just a few examples.

Thats hilarious!! Although because you obvious intention was to leave this won't help, but I would have been delighted with the opportunity and gone off exploring the labyrinth of lavatories and interacting with its contents. To bad it had to be you....

Next time you want to escape your surroundings and are lucid, try either falling backwards and imagining where you want to be, or spinning around and imagining where you would like to be.

Either of these may give you false awakenings though, so be sure to reality check if you find yourself in bed after either of these.

Another thing you can do is just imagine that as soon as you turn around that there will be a door behind you. Some people are able to conjure up such things. I personally am not often able to do this so I usually fall backwards if I do not like my lucid scenery and try to replace it completely.

Just be creative and you can get out. If i was stuck in a bathroom i woulda stood inside the toilet bowl, flushed the toilet and expected to be sucked down the toilet and apear somewhere els in a fraction of a second. I got that from Harry Potter but still just look around and use your imagination. I remember being in a creepy house that was endless so i just closed my eyes and flew upwards through a cealing and i poped outa a pool and landing on a diving board. Tho i did have to deal with an unfriendly person at the pool afterwards.

I just recently read ("Our Dreaming Mind"- Robert d Vandecastle ) and it had a section about the Senoi. They are some african culture I believe. I can't look up and type on phone. But anyway they base their whole life based on their dreams. EVERY one in this group recalls their dreams every night and learn at a young age. They say if you dream is of a tornado chasing you run in to it because your dream guide or something like that is trying to show you something. Try not to get anxious and calmly, lucidly try to see what you dream is trying to show you.
