Going to places you've never been before?

Would it be possible to go to places you haven't been before? For example, if you've never been to Paris, could you be able to go there in a lucid dream?

Well yes you could. It might not actually look like Paris. Unless you have seen pictures.

      But yes you can.

I was always a dreamer, in childhood especially. People thought I was a little strange.-Charley pride

Yes you can go anywhere. It won't be an exact replica but it will look good enough based on what you have seen.

Ah ok, so pictures of the place would suffice right?

Sure but it wont be an exact replica. Even places you have been in real life wont always be the same in dreams.

Yep, totally. It probably won't look 100% correct (given you've looked at pictures, and possibly seen movies containing the location) because it's just not possible to have that many details spot-on in a dream.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Considering that I believe dreaming to be a plane of existence that all have the same access to, rather than your own internal projection, time for an experiment:

Ask the dream out loud (looking towards the sky) to create a 1:1 replica of Paris, France and to put you at a location (landmark) you CAN look at pictures of, but have not already seen pictures of.

Explore the area thoroughly and take in all of the details, and try to find 1 or 2 little details that would HAVE to be located in that same spot in the real Paris that you don't already know the content of (something like a landmark's engraving you've never read, etc.)

When you wake up write down all the details you've gathered, THEN search for images of the same place you visited in the dream, and see if your dream details containing unknown information are verifiable by searching for the waking reality information about the same location.

Let us know how it goes.

Well, yes. You can use LDing to visit even Pluto, but be aware that it will be not really Pluto, just a fake version of what your mind THINKS it look like. You can even create new countries, etc.

Lucid Dreaming is bound by only one fundamental law, which I like to call the TOE (Theory of Everything, lol) of dreams. Believing.

Believe hard enough, it WILL happen. I know it sounds fairytailish but it's in fact the whole base of LDing.
'The petals dance through the wind,
The crimson blood shimmers on the snow,
The shattered heart weeps of hidden sorrow.
And over a pure white sky,
      rises a black moon.'

Sure. I dream about places i've never seen or even thought about before. Consciously, I guess (haven't needed to try) you would just need to visualise what you want to see prior to opening a door or something similar.
