      Dream control & length?

      Hello,
Yesterday I had my first decent lucid experience in the form of a FA/DILD, the feeling of freedom is amazing though it only lasted about 20 seconds more or less

Everything was stable until I moved and the dream started to fade so I tried stabilizing it by rubbing my hands together which worked. I knew I didn't have much time so I started walking out my room, since it was a FA and it was during the dark hours I couldn't see anything but this lasted for only 2 -3 seconds until I woke up.

Since this experience I was wondering how I could make my dream last at least 5 - 10 minutes, in the lucid the environment seemed very fragile.
I didn't have much time to do anything so I figure that I wouldn't have good control, what can I do to be ready for next time?

PS. I attempted the hand through palm RC which failed for me the second time, luckily I was much more aware than before. I remembered the sensation of a small surge of power go through my hand when I tried which was exactly like the other time.
Also the counting finger RC worked but at the first glance at my hands they looked normal until I repeated the RC.
At the fork in the road I turned left while everyone else turned right..

I usually have to go into a trance for my lucid powers to work first time; which is easy cause I do alot of meditation. The past two nights I've been lucid for multiple hours with total control, when doing this seems normal for you, eg. the change of excitement at the fact you became lucid should be non existant cause it can destabilize the dreamworld by reminding you that your other body is still there, and you should have been expecting lucidity anyway; it should be simpler to hold on to the dream. All these stabalization techniques are gimmicks in my opinion and just pure awareness of the possibilities of your environment is your best bet. Use that to keep active or you'll either lose lucidity or your dream will fade. Good luck!
