      Dream powers problems

I've had 3 lucid dreams so far, and in each one I have not been able to use any magic powers. I have tried jumping off the ground to fly, getting special objects to give me powers, and so on. The only thing I have been able to do is channel thoughts into someone's brain. A dc tried to tell me I was wrong (and I was), but I made them say I wad right. I have also levitated when I don't think about it, but if I realize I'm levitating I fall. Also, one of my dreams ended in disaster when a cow shot fire at me. Don't ask. I couldn't stop it and had to wake myself up. So is there a secret I'm missing? I know there's training, but I'm going to try that, and it doesnt help much if I'm trying to fly. I know I probably need confidence, but how do I trick myself into believing I have powers if a magic item didn't work? Any tips on gaining powers will be appreciated.

They key to dream control is belief in your ability to control the dream. If you expect your powers to fail in a dream they will. When you become lucid take some time to stabilize the dream. Then decide what you would like to do. For example flying. Tell yourself that you can fly, believe that you can do it. If it helps you can give yourself something to aid in flight, like a jetpack or wings.

      Good luck.

Your first couple times out try to enjoy the dream environment bask in the realization that your physical body is sleeping yet your still fully aware of whats going on as if your awake. when your ready, "mentally" you do great things, just take it slow one dream goal at a time. namaste.

"when you fall unconscious, what your mind expresses is a dream.
When you are aware, what your mind expresses is creativity. It creates your life.
When you are in a higher state of consciousness, it not only creates the life of whatever you want, but also on whom ever you want". -LifeBlissFoundation

I'm a long time LDer, but this is the first time I've been part of a LD community. After reading all sorts of tips and tricks, I can say with fair certainy that it depends on the individual. Things that work for some people just don't agree with other people's subconscious minds. The trick is to try many things until you find what feels right to you. You can also try making up your own way of doing it. If it feels right, your logical mind will be more willing to suspend belief and let it happen. Once it happens, tell yourself, "I'm able to do this because I'm dreaming, and in dreams there are no rules." Your confidence will grow as you prove to yourself that you are capable. Try to become good at one thing before branching out. You need to build your confidence in one area first, THEN you can tell yourself, "Hey, if I can fly, there's no reason I can't pass through walls," or whatever it is you want to do next. Believing in yourself is important both in the real world, and in the dream world.

Just as an aside, here's how I usually fly (I was a self-taught dream flier at 6yo):
      1. Get a running start, jump, and flap my arms. Hehehe. Not terribly dignified, but I've always found it easier than levitating out of the blue.
      2. Look at a point in space/air where I want to go, reach my hand out towards that point in space, close my fist around that point and feel it in my hand, pull myself forward and reach out for the next point of space with my hand and pull myself forward, while imagining it's as effortless as floating through water.
