So I need help with my lucids lasting longer

So I managed to get lucids pretty often, last night I had 4 total! The problem is that I don't know how to make them last longer, they lasted a couple of minutes and before yesterday I had some that only lasted some seconds, I keep trying to prolong them but I feel like I wake up when trying. I also seem to have a problem where whenever I open my eyes I end up waking up somehow, anyone else have this?

Don't try too hard to prolong the dreams, stabilisation requires you to be calm and therefore in control, but don't worry this should come natural through trail and error as you are frequently LDing.
      Well done

As soon as you become lucid feel as many different textures as you can whilst looking at them close up. Don't spend more than a couple of seconds on each. Do this for 10 seconds and your lucid will be stable. You could feel and look at your clothes, the ground, a plant, a book etc. Then during the dream feel and look at the texture of your hands often, this will help to maintain the stability of the lucid dream.

I'm going to try this next time I LD, do you know any reason why sometimes when I WILD I'm always scared to open my eyes cause whenever I do I always seem to wake up?

A quick hint would be to plan out your lucid before you go to sleep (such as, I will fly to meet up with a polar bear, each cheese on the moon, milk a talking unicorn llama, etc), that way, when you enter your dream, you'll be more focused on stabalizing (such as read above, or in the thread http://www.dreamviews.com/f14/what-s...rk-you-108360/ )
Don't forget to try to stay as calm as possible, and good luck with all future attempts!

I'm the opposite, my lucids are long and detailed, but I don't have them very often. Just do what everyone has already suggested and you're good to go.

      This^^
I remember one of my dream characters (one representing my musical talent) told me when I asked how to lucid dream (way back when) 4 things to do he even told me to spin in a dream to stabalize it. If only I could remember all that he said except stop trying when your high.

I smell Michael Raduga. Am I right?
      My opinion:
*Lucid Dreams, OBEs, Astral Projections are one and the same.
*There are no levels of lucidity. Quality changes if you apply some deepening.
*Lucid Dreams do not last more than 20 minutes.
      *Wolves are beautiful.

      Tip from a pro:

At the moment of lucidity, sit down (unless you become lucid in a very distracting place) and just meditate a minute.

Keep your eyes open, both hands on the surface of the ground feeling whatever it is, stare around at the scenery. Try not to think too much, just feel yourself breathe and take up space with your body.

Since you have many lucids I suggest taking one whole entire dream and just doing this. Something is bound to come along and try to engage you back into the dream, so when it comes, go along with it. Practice keeping lucidity while following the dream plot.

While it keeps you from doing personal goals and may not be too terribly interesting, it is crucial practice for maintaining lucid dreams longer. If you can follow the dream plot for 10 minutes and still be lucid your other lucids seem to lengthen on their own. You are teaching yourself how to balance your ego (conscious mind) and the dream (subconscious mind) which is what stability is all about.

      Good luck in your endeavours

The point made by mcwillis is perfect, i did this just last night and the one before, looked at a few surfaces close up(didnt acutally feel them) but then looked back to the main dream scene, for instance i looked at a wall, saw dirt and scratches and marvelled at the detail, then looked back to the road i was on, and it became so stable i actually felt i would not be able to get out!!

its not just about technique though, but intent! you must become passively confident, even sure, that your techniques will work, become sure of yourself, know it will work, expect it to work as you go to sleep.
