      New to LD'ing

Hello everybody, I'm new to the lucid dreaming world. For weeks, even months I've been trying to lucid dream. Last week, I was finally able to. I had the WEIRDEST lucid dream ever. Some demon clown guy was chasing my friend and I in a bathroom. Suddenly, I said "So you're not a flying demon clown?" my friend said "wth" and I made myself jump out the window. I realized I was dreaming right before I jumped, and flew up. My first lucid dream and I was easily flying, superman-like. I didn't want him to kill my friend, so I made myself shoot lasers out of my eyes. It didn't work...so I thought of him exploding and he did. I decided to do a girl while there, hey it's a lucid dream so why not? I flew up to a hotel and found her changing, I flew into her room and she assumed position. I layed on top of her and everything faded black from there...it was weird. Now, this week, just last night I had another. I was at my friend's bar mitzvah (which already took place) but this one was completely different. I'm not sure how, but I knew I was dreaming. I thought up a tall blonde and started dancing with her. Suddenly, I start hovering with her. Then everyone else is hovering too. I leave her and land, then start flying around. I was able to fly for a minute or two, not with the same control as in my other dream because here it made me land. I'd run down the stairs then jump, and I'd fly for a while. Suddenly, my law teacher was there. He's a cool guy but skeptical, so he said "You can't fly. Impossible" and once I had a single doubt in my mind, i wasn't able to. I'd run down the stairs, make a superman fist in front of me, then only fly for about 4 feet. I flew above him at one point and shouted "Look! I'm right above you!" But when he looked I started falling. I then decided to trot like I would on water to stay still. That would work for 2 seconds then stop. I gave up then, but at random times still try but it wouldn't work. I looked up some things on dream control, and how you usually need a while to be able to fly easily. I found that strange because I was able to fly in my first dream extremely easily until it faded, then pretty easily until I lost confidence. Any advice on how to keep flying easily and why my first dream faded?

Your first dream most likely faded because your REM cycle was over, it's completely natural.

For your flying, the only advice I can give is when you're in a dream and have doubts while trying, don't get frustrated, just tell yourself to step back from everything, take a few deep breaths and remind yourself that you can do what every you want.

Also, saying a mantra before you sleep would be uber helpful. Just say something short, simple, and to the point. Such as "When I dream, I can do whatever I want" or something to that extent.

I hope this helped and good luck!
      Happy dreaming!

Oh, a few more things from my dreams-
Well, during my first experience with the clown, it's weird because I'm not afraid of clowns...thought I should mention that.
Then, in my most recent, it was a series of dreams. Once after the party thing, my friend was stroking my...nevermind what but I didn't like it and I couldn't control her to stop. I was thinking "I can control you...but you won't do what I'm saying?" so i waited for the scene to change. The next scene was a circle of friends and I, and we knew we were in my dream. I started to lay down and say, "Let's go to the next dream level!" like in Inception, but instead the scene changed again, back to the party where I was too frustrated to fly. And thanks for the advice, OwO, but after I told myself it's lucid, I can do anything I want, while in the dream after I stopped flying, I was still unable to. But I'll keep trying that.
I'm starting to recall one more of my somewhat-lucid dreams from a month ago. My friend and I were walking along a sidewalk when I realized, "I've never been here...and I never hang out with her after school..." and I realized it was lucid. I tried to make her disappear, but once I thought of her she was stuck there. So I made the scene change, and I was in some sort of field with a few of those giant water container things. But they were low and small...My goal was to fly above them, but whenever I jumped I just jumped. I wasn't too upset then because I didn't try the trotting thing or anything special, and after jumping 3 or 4 times I woke up.
Any ideas on ways I can fly, or ways I can DEFIANTLY know I'm dreaming? I've only been able to lucid dream once a week so far, for 2 weeks...
