      Question Can't control ANYTHING!

ok so i've started getting lucids... I know i'm dreaming I do an RC or two, but I only have one small problem... once I realise i'm dreaming, the dream continues and I don't get control but don't lose lucidity? How do I fix that?

I have had the same problem lately. In my first few lucids I could do basic control. Now, I can't control shit. Also, my traditional RC does not work anymore so I had to move to a new one. But, the best advice I can give for control is; make sure you wholeheartedly believe you can do it, do not have a single doubt in your mind that you can do it. If you think this is impossible you most likely will never succeed in controlling stuff. Also, something I've been told by other members. Instead of trying to summon someone, or something, or trying to change a landscape or what not, ask a dream character to do it for you. I have heard that works quite well, but have not experienced it first hand yet. Well, hope this small bit of advice helps.

Start with minor control experiments that do not shock your mind. You can eventually do magical things, but must work up to it. If it shocks your brain it will be harder to do. Start with trying to find something or someone. Say you decide you want to have a battle axe. At first don't try to materialize it. Instead tell your self something like, "oh yeah, I set mine down behind that tree." Try to convince yourself you fully expect to find it there. Look behind the tree. Find a pretty girl. Do not try to form her from thin air. Instead, know that pretty girls hang out just around this corner, then walk around the corner.
When you have got good at that kind of stuff, then you are ready to try magical stuff.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

I don't think you understand what I said... what I mean is i'll become lucid and the dream will continue the exact same as it was before... My conscious mind will be sreaming "YOUR DREAMING! YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT!" but nothing HAPPENS! i'm lucid and I know i'm dreaming but I don't have control.

Firstly you need to tell yourself you CAN control your dreams, because you CAN, just because it happened one or twice doesn't mean that's how it will always be, don't impose that on yourself. It's all just practice at the end of the day.

You might not be able to control what is happening because 1. You don't believe you can. Or 2. Because the dream doesn't want you to, yet.

Try practicing this exercise in waking life: whenever you remember, consider the fact "I AM dreaming" follow this with a reality check and consider what you would do, or carry on doing what you would do if it were a dream.

Sorry Deatheraux, I did not understand what you meant. Ok, first you are making progress just getting to a lucid state. That is much better than most of the world! So be happy about every dream you get that far in. Here is what I think would work best in your situation. When you get to be aware that you are dreaming, do not bother with trying to control things for now. Instead work on bringing more awareness into the dream. If you set goals related to that and achieve them, you will feel like you are progressing and you still will be training your mind.
If you find you are only watching the dream, but know you are dreaming, try something like one of these techniques, but you can make up your own similar ones.
1)Decide clearly in your mind 'where' the dream is and say it to yourself. For instance 'this is my old school ground' or 'this must be an old subway station'
2)Decide clearly in your mind 'what' is happening and say it to yourself. For instance 'three guys are walking down an alley' or 'those 4 people are lost in the woods'
3)Guess what will happen next and say it to yourself. For instance 'the three guys will find something' or 'those 4 people will see a bear'

Modify that routine if it does not seem to work. After two succesful dreams in which you accomplish that much, then try to change #3 into statements that give you some control. For instance 'I want those 3 guys to start fighting' or 'I want those 4 people to actually be 4 pretty women.' Of course at this point use all the tricks people listed above about believing it will work.

Just my take on how I would move forward if I were you. If you can skip all this and get right into the dreams, great. But if not this method should get you there in about 4 dreams.
