      I'm Trapped!

      Hey DV,

My dreams are so dang boring! They lack that sense of adventure I'm seeking, and really extreme adventure is the only reason I want to LD (I can even imagine having a sort of 'continuous LD', in which the plot kinda carries over from dream to dream)

      A Repetitive Dream Scene
My lucids never fail to occur in, or around, my house. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, because I could just change to dream scene. However, I can't seem to change, the dream scene; it's almost like I'm trapped in this area of my dreams. Here are the things I've tried.

Teleportation - I closed my eyes while visualizing where I wanted to appear when I opened my eyes. However, this has only resulted in the dream ending, or no change of the dream environment at all.

Walking Through a Mirror - I attempted to walk through a mirror, with the intent to treat it as a portal. The mirror definitely wasn't solid, it was more like a light gel. I walked through it, but I came out in my front yard.

Spinning - All spinning does is destabilize or end the dream, it never has resulted in a change of the dream scene.

Imagining a Dream Scene Prior to Sleeping - Never has worked, even when I try to WILD (I always end up in my bed).

Flying - I attempted to fly to outer space, but once I get so high, it's like I hit a barrier and the dream ends. Or, if I want to fly with the intent of going into space, I lose the ability to fly altogether.

Hyu's Portal Method - I learned this method from reading Hyu's DJ, and it has been the closest to working. Last night, I drew a circle in the air, and visualized the destination. I could actually see my destination manifest in the portal, exactly how I thought of it. When walking through, it appeared promising. I looked back and saw what I can only describe as being a space filled with colors and geometric patterns. Confident I had finally left my house, I turned around and proceeded to walk through the portal, only to find my house as the final destination.

I struggle with most other dream control aspects, such as controlling elements or doing anything complicated, but I will be happy so long as I leave my house area in a LD. If I can't escape this area in a LD, there is no point in attempting to LD, as I have no motivation to enter a lucid dream and not being able to embark on an adventure at least from time to time.

      Any Suggestions?

Read a book! Visualize it fully as you read, read it before sleep! I think this would be a good way to give your dreams more oompth.

You could do the same with films/tv, but you're imagination isn't there, you would just be replaying what you saw you know?

Ok firstly, you are not trapped! Don't believe that, or it will become truth. A great way I use to summon places/things is just a door! Just visualize the best you can - "behind this door is [whatever/wherever you want]" you can practice this on doors in waking life too (just dont let anyone catch you lol)

I haven't tried this but I heard it on here, you could try summon a teacher (a master, lucid dream expert, whatever!) you could even use my door technique, "behind this door is a great teacher who will teach me to control my dreams" It's worth a shot hey

Thanks for the advice, the thing is though, I do/done all of those things before.
I've been reading a fantasy trilogy for the past month every night before bed, and constantly catch myself being 'lost' in the book (similar to a day dream, but it feels like I'm imaging the events unfold in my head instead of reading text on a page).

I've tried the 'behind the door' thing before, and that led to a wasted LD that ended up having me on a wild chase. On other occasions, I told myself that behind numerous doors, that a 'wild landscape' would exist, only to find my front yard =(

As for the teacher/master, I personally want to go searching for my DG, and I can't sense any emotional attachment or anything special for that matter from any of the 'guides' presented to me. And of course, I can't go searching for one if I can't leave my house =/

It's weird because I never believed that I could ever be trapped in one location in my dreams, but now that I've exhausted all these methods I've formed that opinion. It isn't a strong opinion; in fact, every LD I strongly believe that I'll disprove this opinion. Unfortunately, this is never the case.

Why not? It depends what your belief is, you could quite easily just say "behind this door is my DG" (probably, I like to believe we all have a path to follow, some are not yet ready for a guide, or not ready to leave a certain dream!
Why not shout out to the dream - "please show me what I need to see, the reason why I cant leave this place, what is it I have to learn before I can move on?" or... "please present to me a guide who can help me out of this place/situation" whatever you want, you get the drift, my point is though, whether its a 'real' dg or whatever doesnt matter, your subconscious will manifest a teacher/object worthy of what you seek. You could try many things man, next time im in the dream i would just shout "bitch this is my dream, through this door I will find what i need to know to be able to move on and control my dreams how I want!" that or the teacher thing.
But good luck man keep us updated, just think of this as a test, you can and will overcome it, don't let it consume you!

I really like this idea, I think I'll give it a try tonight. My dreams have always responded fairly well to me talking to them. I should get a clear-cut response even from this.
      Thanks

I have the same problem. Most of my LD's are WILD and they start out in my bed. Once I feel SP kick in I roll my dream body out of bed and I'm in my room. My dark room. I cannot see anything until I go outside. I tell myself I will be at a certain place when I open the door or that it will be light when I open the door. 9/10 times it's still dark and I'm in my yard. It sucks. I have to work really hard to get light or go somewhere else. Another bad thing is it's the middle of the night, so all my neighbors are asleep. Nobody is around.

The way I get light is by spinning - usually I see a small speck of light and as I spin the speck becomes a line, then the line expands until eventually there is a full scene in front of me. Sometimes it takes a lot of spinning and it can be really difficult to maintain. Usually the scene is still my damn yard. In that case I try to fly somewhere else or go around a corner and say I will be in a certain place. These actions work maybe 1/2 the time at best.

Even though the following link is a guide more aimed at improving recall, it should also alleviate your problem (One of the funtions of dreams is to help consolidate your waking memories into concise symbols. If you already go through your day by recalling it, your dreams become blank canvases for your intent): http://www.dreamviews.org/f15/if-you...ams-try-93005/

Its a geometrical shape called metatrons cube, named after the arch angel metatron. Its constructed from 13 circles that have straight lines joining their centres together. The interesting thing about it is you can derive other sacred geometry from it like the tree of life, the flower of life, the tetractys of the decad and even "the great seal" that you can see in a one dollar bill. Last but not least all of platos solids reside in its shape. I think that flash is just an artifact of its rotation so yes, its an illusion. Heres a link to a larger picture (warning huge file!): http://www.gbphotodidactical.com/ima...-COMPLETED.jpg

      Sorry for going off-topic btw

Maybe a lack of excitement in your waking life is reflected in your dream state?

Doing more adventurous things in your waking life might help your subconscious experience dreams in a more adventurous way.

Have you tried walking out opposed to flying? It's nothing impossible to normal humans. If you have just try and imagine the barrier shattering from an RPG or something you summon.
