I usually look up and just "will" myself to fly (usually to escape nightmares.) One time though, I grew black feathered wings when I was lucid (in a dream that wasnt a nightmare) and I flew to the sky. :fly:

When I was young, and I didnt know about lucid dreams, I would often discover how to fly by "swimming through the air." Nowadays I just jump in the air and will myself to float upwards. Though, I did go through a phase, when I got into some legal trouble in waking life(alcohol related). I assume it was because I did not feel in control of my life, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldnt make myself fly. This happened in two or three separate lucid dreams. Occasionally I still fall out of the sky when I start to doubt myself.
I quite often use flight as a means of getting from A to B, but have serious problems maintaining height/speed etc. What I've started doing instead is make use of the "whirlwind sprint" shout from Skyrim. Watch here. Unlike the standard shout, I position myself at a 45 degree angle and take off- flying quite a long way. It's a crude form of flight but it gets me where I need to go!
Odd types of flight? Hmmm, in some dream locations the gravity is turned up. Flight can actually be laberous then. You can not just fly, you must exert yourself. I have come up with a couple tricks though.
I reach out and point to some distant place like a hill side, and grab the spot I am pointing at as if it where just printed on fabric. I am connected to that point by a spider man type filiment. I real in the line (webbing) at a very fast pace and get whipped through the air , just like a zip-line.
You can also barely touch the ground and not have to expend as much energy. I will float a couple feet off the ground as if I am laying on my belly. I grab hand holds with my fingers and pull. There is always a next hand hold and each time I pull Neuton's law projects me forward. I can use this to race up the outside of a building or cliff face.
I used to do this exact thing as well! There was a move in the Spiderman 2 game called "web zip". He does it about 36 seconds into this video.
I have a memory from when I was about 7 where I realized I was in some type of world where I could fly. I took a normal piece of paper, folded it in half, held it above my head and flapped the two sides like they were little wings. It worked. As long as I held my arms straight up and flapped the paper, I could fly. I flew above traffic and decided to land on a semi-truck and ride it down the road.
When I was a little older, I learned what lucid dreams were and I tried more flying. At first the only way I could fly was by laying down on my belly and using my hands to shove myself up into the air. I would float a few feet off the ground and only be able to skim along that way.
Now I fly much easier by imagining the ground to be dropping away from under me. I still don't always have control, but when I'm having problems, I sometimes summon something that can help me. I've summoned a flying carpet, a carriage pulled by flying horses, and most recently, when I was trying to get to a floating island in the sky, I imagined a roller coaster track that would lead up to it and the coaster cart pulling to a stop in front of me so I could get in.
I have a friend that always float around in her dreams, but can never reach the sky. She just bumps against it.
lol, it struck me how well that symbolizes the glass ceiling.
anyway, I always have based my flying style off of the matrix, and I just crouch down, look up, and jump as high as I can. Then I usually just hover up there and look at the ground until I pick a place to land.
I've flown once, (non LD) and it was like swimming breaststroke in the air. No wings or jetpack
I usually just will myself to fly, but I can't go too fast. Once, I flew and ran on the side of a building at the same time.
Couple of weeks ago I had a dream where I was riding the wind. I could control the wind and used it to lift myself up and fly around.
I shapeshift into a hawk or crow, and spread my wings and fly fly away.
When i try to fly straight up, it doesnt work.
I fly horizontally and slowly glde upwards from there
If walking up invisible stairs is flying, then thats mine ;p
^Please to meet you at last.
I fly quite easily by imagining myself in a wingsuit (skydiving suit) this gives me the ability to glide up.
I just float up. Not that I've floan that much in my dreams...
I tried a different way of initiating flight recently, since I was sitting in the back seat of a car. Being lucid I knew I could fly, I just needed to go through the car roof to do so. I used my legs to push, but it was mostly my willpower that accelerated me instantly to speeds over 10,000 miles per second. That definately was more than enough force to punch a hole through the car roof. I stopped in a few seconds, where I found myself in space, and looking down I noticed the sphere of the earth below me.
I only had one longer lasting LD and I flied using my green vest (I'm wearing in almost every picture) as a hang-glider in combination with heavy wind that came out of nowhere xd
