      Always waking up too soon

ahh not last night, but the night before i went lucid

i told myself to stay calm and then thought about maybe zooming in on something but then felt like i didnt need to because i didnt feel the dream ending

then all of the sudden i wake up

im positive i was lucid because i stuck my finger through a wall then decided to walk through my house to go outside

although i dont think i had as much consciousness as i usually do i think it was enough to have stayed in my dream if i tried a technique

also i want to point out that i felt pretty calm and before i went to sleep i told myself to be calm so i dont think i got too excited

ive heard of a few different ways of staying in the dream (spinning, looking at hands, zooming in on stuff) but these dont work for me

so if anyone could put out a bunch of suggestions that have worked for you i will try them

      A Few Tips

      I have had 5 LD's and i started 4 months ago..

A few tips..that may help..is when you become Lucid, tell yourself to stay calm..which you did..but dont move around right away...just stay put and explore ur surroundings..cuz i have had a few LD's where i would become LUCID and i would walk around as soon as i became Lucid--not giving my DREAM MIND if u will, time to settle and decide on things and get to know my surroundings..

So in basic...Stay Calm..Explore Your Surroundings-and when you get comfortable enough..move around and have fun!

      thanks

i had my longest lucid dream last night

i went to tell my relative something about the dream and that i was leaving and he got mad and turned into an old lady and started chasing me down the street then when i got away i zoomed in on some grass then started feeling my hands and rubbing them together i then kept running down the road for a while and increased my speed and lucidity then i felt myself swallow(most likely in real life) then i guess i thought that would wake me up so it might have been what did it

oh well i think the rubbing hands thing works for me

there's another method that is very beneficial for lengthening LDs. I call it "dream reentry".

Pretty much once you wake up from a dream/LD you may think of the last scene of that dream, relax and reenter it.
This technique is somewhat like a WILD - before you do it, you have no idea on how to do it, but once you succeed, it's impossible to forget.

If you become familiar with this technique you will stop worrying about your LD fading and gain much more confidence in your LD ability

Try it next time you wake up from a LD

      yay, my method is working

To keep it lucid, I spend couple seconds I'm awake to become more aware. Then I visualize last scene of the dream (again, makes me more aware and clarifies the fact that I'm entering a dream). Then I enter it and take off. It's very helpful to do a RC or some other activity to reinforce lucidity upon entering...

Lucid Dreaming is when you know you are dreaming. The first thing you were referring to was an OBE (out of body experience)

One technique that I've used a few times that has helped me is a method similar to spinning. When your dream starts fading and all you see is a black screen, start to roll like a log (So it feels like you are rolling around in your bed). If it works for you it will literally feel like you are rolling around in bed, just keep doing that for as long as it takes for imagery to start to appear, the times it has worked for me it took about 10-15 seconds.
