      Writing

Has anyone ever written anything in a lucid dream and managed to stop it from changing? How about creating logical arguments etc.? Could someone with good enough recall use dreaming as time to write essays or do other work, then transfer it across into Real life? It may not sound as interesting as going supersaiyan on some DC's ass, but if I can get even a portion of my work off my chest in the dreamworld, I would feel so much better. Also, who knows what my subconscious might add? I could get DCs coming up to me and helping me with my homework

So, is this possible? Post your experiences

      Goals
Have my first Lucid Dream [X] Become adept at stabilising dreams [] Change my dream environment [] Summoning [X] Telekinesis [] Hear a joke from a DC [] Ride a dragon, then jump off from a great height [] Swim [] Drive [] Eat []

When I write about what I dream it's usually de-elaborated and lacks the minute details that would cause them to be portrayed illogically and nonsensical. Also, they're usually documented well after the dream; my interpretation is always first, writing second.

I don't think that's what Kurlie was talking about. You were talking about writing down your dreams while awake, but he was talking about actually WRITING while within the dream. Very different stuff.

      Kurlie:

If you manage to actually write something down in a LD (rather than just read it), you stand an excellent chance of "taking it back" to waking life with you because a) what you wrote likely will not change much, because it has a different nature than writing provided by the dream and b) because, since you wrote it, the memory of what you wrote might be much more accessible.

That said, I definitely think you can get much done during dreamtime, but you'll likely have much more luck doing the thought-process portion of your essays, etc, during the dream, and leave the writing part completely on the waking side. That way you don't have to suffer the tedium of writing things twice and you also get to think about it with the resources of your dreaming mind, subconscious, and unfettered imagination all readily available to help build your thoughts.

No experience with writing in lucids. But I'm pretty sure that you can logically create - be it writing or thoughts. A friend of mine uses a mantra before she has LD or OBE, that helps her remember what happend upon awakening. Something like "I have conscious lucid dream and I wake up with full memory". I think it would be helpfull, if you wake yourself as soon as you write something. Happy dreams

I strongly agree with sageous, doing the thinking, rather than the writing, is likely going to be much more beneficial. It seems to me that words (dialogue as well as writing) is always difficult to recall word for word, but ideas are much more intuitive.

And if you're trying to write about an experience, there's no better way to delve into the details than by living it in a lucid. This is an especially useful tool when writing fiction, where detail and experiential accuracy is everything.

I've often written things down in my dreams and remembered them when I woke up, well enough to write it down on paper IRL. It's really actually pretty neat and handy, if you ask me! As a person who loves to write IRL (short stories especially), often times, I can't get the dream written material out of my head until I actually write it down on paper. Sometimes makes for interesting and bizarre reads!

I'm not sure if it follows the theme of the OP, but it seems worth mentioning that two of the books I've written were sourced completely in my dreams. One of them is just dreams, and all those dreams are either direct "copies" or very close to my actual dreams. The other is more elaborate (and closer to topic) in that I actually tested certain images and plot devices that I wanted to put in the book, but to which I needed to get closer, more intimate (this book also has lots of my remembered dreams as well).

No actual typing in the dreams, I suppose, but the transfer of dreamworld creations to paper definitely did (and for me, can) happen.

I can not say for sure, but from my own experience the words you write in the dream will not stay the same if you attempt to proof read it. I have spent some time attempting to disprove the whole "you can not read much in a dream" to no success. A simple 'Stop" sign even gets all weird and may have the S backwards. I have taken a book in a dream and read and re-read a short paragraph, only to find the words warping and changing.
I do think you can get the logic and content parts of your work done in an LD and recall the ideas you came up with. Mzzkc's idea about experiencing what you want to write about is great. I just think the act of attempting to write in the dream and keep it intact is not worth the effort. I am not even sure it can be done for a sentence with more than 8 or 9 words.
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.

Y'know, once I had a dream that gave me the accurate and exact answers for a test the next day. ^_^
